Capítulo 27: Enjoying The Luxury

As Lucien entered Devereux's mansion, his eyes were immediately drawn to the lascivious decorations that adorned every corner of the entrance hall.

The floors were polished to a shine, reflecting his own image as he walked. The walls were adorned with intricate carvings and paintings depicting scenes of grandeur and glory. The chandeliers hanging from the high ceiling were made of glittering crystals, casting a warm glow over the room.

The furniture was made of the finest quality, upholstered with luxurious fabrics. As he walked deeper into the mansion, he couldn't help but marvel at the attention to detail that went into every aspect of its design. It truly looked like a palace made of crystal, fit for a noble.

Lucien then discovered several maids bustling back and forth, seemingly busy with something. Despite their busy activity, they would bow and greet Lucien politely as they passed him.

"Good evening, young master."

"Young master, you've returned."

"Young master, why are your arms bruised? That's not good! Let me fetch some ointment for you right away. Otherwise, your arms might turn blue by the next day."

Despite Lucien's negative reputation among outsiders, nearly every maid adored him inside the mansion. This could be because they understood that his rebellious behavior was largely a result of his parents' absence and that he was just a victim of circumstance.

The maid who was concerned about Lucien's arm was his nanny from childhood. She was like a second mother to the original Lucien, and he used to call her Aunt Rebecca. Although she insisted that he should not address her so familiarly because of their different standings, the original Lucien did not seem to care much and continued to address her in his own way.

"No worries, Aunt Rebecca. These bruises are just from tripping. They'll heal soon enough." Lucien answered nonchalantly.

"Who are you trying to fool? I've known you since you were just a tiny baby; I understand your body like the back of my hand. Those bruises will be there for weeks. Just wait here. I'll go get the ointment," Rebecca declared, hurrying out of the hall.

Lucien couldn't stop her as she had already run off, so he had no choice but to wait in the hallway.

Rebecca quickly returned with a small, unlabeled jar in her hand, wasting no time in tending to Lucien's injuries. She led him to a nearby chair and carefully applied a generous amount of cream onto his bruised arms, her gentle touch providing him with some much-needed relief.

Rebecca continued applying the ointment to Lucien's bruises, her brows furrowed in concern. "Are you sure these bruises are just from tripping? They feel like they were caused by something more than just a fall," she asked, her voice filled with suspicion.

After a moment of reflection, Lucien decided to come clean. "To be honest, I was involved in a fight earlier," he admitted. The fight had taken place in a public area with many spectators, and even though he had ordered his driver to keep it quiet, rumors of his incredible strength may have already spread from other sources. Lucien realized there was no point in continuing to lie about the situation.

"A fight?!" Rebecca exclaimed in horror, quickly turning to inspect Lucien's body with both her eyes and hands. "Are you getting bullied? Did you sustain any other injuries apart from your arms?" she hurriedly inquired, her concern for him evident in her voice.

"Calm down, Aunt Rebecca," Lucien reassured her. "Look at my face. Does it look pale or like I'm in pain? No, right? So don't worry too much, alright?" Lucien placed a comforting hand on her shoulder and gave her a reassuring smile. "I'm fine, really. It was just a friendly sparring match with a fellow nobleman. And I won, so there's no need to be that distressed."

"Sparring? Who was bold enough to spar with you and leave you with these injuries? It doesn't matter if you won or not, young master. By causing you harm, they didn't only insulted you, but also the whole member of Devereux! We must teach their family a lesson and make sure they never dare to cross us again." Rebecca's eyes were burning with determination.

Lucien was afraid that Rebecca might make a bigger deal out of the situation. Still, he knew it would be against the original Lucien's personality if he insisted on letting the matter go. So, he relented and shrugged indifferently, saying, "Do whatever you think is appropriate, Aunt. I don't know the name of the person's family, but you can ask my driver and see if he recognizes the person."

"Well, then I'm off to my room, Aunt." Lucien hastily bid her farewell out of fear she might interrogate him further.

"Alright, young master. By the way, dinner will be ready in half an hour. Please do come down when you're ready." Rebecca informed.

Lucien nodded and walked away onto the staircase that leads to the second floor.

...

"Holy shit!" As Lucien entered the room, he couldn't help but curse in both awe and shock at the sight before him. It was as if he had walked into an emperor's suite.

The size of the room alone was bigger than several of his apartments back on Earth combined. The intricate designs and meticulous attention to detail in every aspect of the room was obvious.

From the paintings on the walls to the intricate carvings on the furniture, it was clear that no expense had been spared in creating a space that exuded both grandeur and aesthetic beauty. Lucien couldn't help but feel a sense of awe wash over him as he took it all in.

The room also boasted a balcony that overlooked a meticulously manicured garden with a grand fountain as its centerpiece.

As he roamed the place, he couldn't resist the temptation to jump onto the bed directly.

Plop!

The mattress of the bed was so soft and bouncy that it almost felt like lying on a cloud. It was a stark contrast to the stiff, uncomfortable bed in his previous apartment. Lucien couldn't help but sink into the plush comfort, feeling as if he was sleeping on a luxurious Wagyu steak compared to the tough, cheap $1 steak of his old bed.

"Ha... I could live like this forever..." As Lucien flapped his arms and legs like a freed pet, enjoying the luxurious softness of the bed, his eyes happened to catch sight of an envelope lying on the table next to him. It was a plain white envelope with no name or address, but there was an emblem he felt familiar with.

The emblem was a strikingly detailed image of an owl, with intricately etched feathers and piercing eyes. The owl was depicted in a deep shade of midnight blue, almost black.
