There were only 2 days to go before Hazel's sixteenth birthday, it was the weekend and Hazel decided to get suck in with household things to keep her mind off her birthday with the possibility of finding her mate. She woke early because it was difficult for her to sleep as she couldn't stop thinking of her mate. She knew nothing about him or who he was yet but she wanted to meet him already.
Hazel got dressed and ready before heading downstairs where her mum was seated at the dining table with a hot mug of milk.
"Where are the twins?" Hazel asked.
"They should be down any second now," Hazel's Mum replied and just as she had finished speaking, the two kittens came tumbling down the stairs.
"What's going on here?" Hazel asked as she went to meet her younger siblings who were now in tears at the bottom of the stairs in their Neko forms. All Neko's remained in their full Neko form except their face which was human until the age of 5 where they could finally be more human like. Tigger and Kitty were only 1 years old.
"Haza," Tigger wailed and held his arms up to Hazel to be held.
"Ok, show me where you're hurt" Hazel said when Tigger was settled in her arms.
"Hans," Tigger replied sadly. Hazel looked at her brother's paws to see nothing wrong with them but rubbed them gently. Hazel glanced at Kitty's paws too to see she was fine too and had stopped crying.
"It's ok," Hazel assured the twin kittens after rubbing Kitty's paws too. "You both just need to be careful when coming down the stairs,"
The twins nodded their small heads in agreement before the three of them made their way to the kitchen.
"What do you want for breakfast?" Hazel questioned the twins.
"Choca shay," Tigger screeched excitedly and began to bounce in Hazel's arms.
"You want chocolate milkshake?"
"Yes,"
"Ok," Hazel nodded her head.
"I wan choca shay too," Kitty demanded.
"Ok guys calm down," Hazel said before placing Tigger in his high chair at the table before doing the same with Kitty.
Hazel prepared 4 chocolate milkshakes because she knew Snow would demand one too when she decided to join them. When the twins received their shakes with a straw, they sipped on them happily. Snow came just in time for hers and began to slurp on it without a thank you.
"Mum can I bake a cake?" Hazel asked their Mum after their drinks were finished.
"Of course you can, there's no need to ask. You know where the ingredients are don't you?" their Mum replied.
"Yes," Hazel replied before she powered on the oven to heat up before she searched the kitchen cupboards for the ingredients she needed to bake a cake. She decided on a plain sponge containing only eggs, flour, sugar and butter. After measuring the ingredients, they were put into a bowl to mix.
"Cake cake cake," Hazel and Trigger chanted when they realised what Hazel was making.
When Hazel had placed the cake mix into the baking tray after mixing to place in the oven to bake, Tigger jumped onto the work surface before she could stop him. He was about to put his paw in the tray for a taste thinking it was ready to eat.
"No Tigger," Hazel grabbed Tigger and placed him on the ground before Kitty decided she wanted to try and do the same. "You can't eat it now, you'll get sick. It has to go into the oven to cook first,"
"To ook?" Tigger questioned.
"To cook," Hazel confirmed before placing the baking tray into the oven and set the timer.
Kitty and Tigger were eager to watch. They went up to the oven and lay down in front of it. They carried their heads in their hands and stared at the cake mixture in the oven with great fascination.
When the timer went off, Hazel took the baking tray out of the oven with oven gloves as her sibling watched on with great interest. Even Snow was watching but she never said a word.
Hazel poked a thin knife through the cake and it went through easily meaning the cake was cooked through. Hazel switched the oven off before placing the tray onto the dining table with plates and forks for everyone. The two kittens however, got the wrong idea and both leaped onto the table next to the cake.
"I don't think so guys," Hazel shook her head as she grabbed the baking tray. "Get into your chairs or you won't get any cake,"
The kittens immediately jumped off the table and into their high chairs where they patiently waited a few minutes for the cake to cool down. Hazel gave everyone a slice each and made sure to leave one for her Dad to have when he got home from work.
"Yum yumy um yum," Tigger muttered happily as he gobbled up his piece of cake in small bites. Kitty decided to shove the whole piece in her mouth and realised it wouldn't fit when her cheeks got covered. She spat the cake out of her mouth before breaking it into pieces with her paws, the fork beside her ignored.
Hazel rolled her eyes before getting stuck into her slice of cake but thoughts of her mate came flooding back no matter how delicious the cake was, she couldn't forget the mate she was yet to meet.
