The Clan Heads looked at the pile, speechless. Mimi jumped off the table and looked at their reactions. Then she beamed with a look so pleased one could think she was the one who personally made every item in the pile.

Finally, after several seconds of silence, the elderly Clan Head picked up a small wooden box that rolled closest to her and cautiously unlocked its latch.

As soon as she opened it, a fragrant aroma spread through the hall.

"Spices!" the elderly woman gasped. "Human spices!"

"Is that silk?" another Clan head wondered, rubbing a sheet of fabric between their fingers. "So smooth… Our Court only grows cotton and hem!"

The third vampire glared at his neighbor, who reached for the same metal box as him. "Hey, don't touch this box! It fell to me, so it's clearly mine!"

At the same time, Reiner berated Ginevra and Mimi for acting in a way that disrupted the proceedings. Neither of the women took his berating to heart.
