Capítulo 22: Chapter 22- Rika – Nightmare (VOLUME 1)

*~*Rika's POV*~*

I was walking into the throne room in the castle. Mom was on her throne at the front, Dad in his Consort or King throne next to her, and Reagan, Talia, Zachary, Zander, Zayden and Zaley all standing around. Even Reeselynn was there, in Dad's arms as they all nine looked down at me. What was going on here?

I looked up into the eyes of my mother as I slowly approached her. Those eyes that I knew so well, that always held so much love and understanding. They weren't like that now though, they were angry and filled with displeasure.

"Mom?" I called out to her, not knowing what was happening. I hadn't even been at the castle, so why was I here in this room? I had been in my room, in my apartment, down in the city. Hadn't I? Or had I started to miss time? Was I blacking out? Was that the next step in the process after my wolf left me? "Mom, what is going on here? Dad?"

"Silence, Rika." Mom snapped at me. Her voice was harsh and angry. It was so intense that it made me flinch. Not even my dad was able to make me flinch. That was something that only my mom was usually capable of.

"What did I do wrong, Mom?" I looked at her with tears filling my eyes. I was pleading with her, trying to figure out what was happening. "Mom?"

"Stop it, Rika. I don't know how this happened, when things got to this point, but you are not my daughter. You must be a changeling. Someone swapped you out for my daughter. I do not know when it happened, or if you are aware of it or not, but you are not my daughter."

There was a severe and deep disappointment in her eyes as she looked down at me. She looked like she had had her heart ripped out, like she was the one that was being told these things.

"Mom! That's not true, you are my mom. I look just like you. How can I be a changeling? You are my mother. Please, Mom, stop saying this. Please, Mommy!"

"Stop calling me that, Rika. Actually, that name is reserved for my daughter and no one else. I do not know who you are, but you are not my daughter. You are not Rika." Mom was looking at me so angrily that I didn't know what to do.

"Mom! Please! Don't do this to me. Dad! Tell her, please. Tell her that I am Rika. I am your daughter."

"You're not Rika." Dad shook his head at me.

"You're not the sister that I once knew." Talia said as she looked at me with her magical eyes. They were glowing a light purple color, her magic flaring behind them.

"You're not my sister." Reagan said angrily. "My sister wouldn't end up like you."

"What did you do with Rika?" Zaley demanded.

"Where is our sister?" Zayden looked like he was about to start crying.

"What happened to Rika?" Zander looked angry.

"We will find her, so you better just tell us where she is now. What did you do?" Zachary's voice was filled with nothing but hate as he spoke to me.

"I am Rika." I said as the tears streamed down my face. "I am Rika! I am! I swear to you all, I am Rika. Please, you have to believe me."

"No, you are not." Mom rose to her feet and looked down at me with her magic glowing a white blue all around her. "My daughter is a Werewolf, a Witch and a Fae. You are none of those. You are just a human. You have no magic and you have no wolf. Therefore, you cannot be my daughter. You are an imposter. You are a fraud. And you deserve to be punished for tricking me and my family."

"No! Mommy, please, I am Rika. I am. I swear to you, I am Rika. My wolf just abandoned me. I swear to you, I am still Rika. Please, Mom, don't be angry with me. Don't do this to me, please."

"You cannot lose your wolf. If you have no wolf, then you aren't my daughter. You aren't who you say that you are. And now you must pay the price for your wrong doings."

As I watched on, Mom raised her hand above her head and looked down at me with sad eyes. The sadness wasn't for me though. No, it was for the daughter that she thought that she had lost. It was for the imaginary Rika that she thought that I had gotten rid of. It was for me, but not for the me that she was looking at.

I could hear the snapping, crackling, and sizzling of her magic as she charged it and made it that much more powerful before she attacked. She was going to attack me. My own mother was going to attack me, to kill me. And it was all because she didn't think that I was her daughter.

"Please, Mom, you have to believe me. I am Rika. I swear to you, I am Rika." I was pleading with her, trying not to be killed by the woman that was my mother.

"Imposter. Changeling. Monster. You are many things, whoever you are, but you are not Rika. You are not my daughter. If you are her, then you will shift into her right now. If you were my daughter, then you would prove it to me right this moment."

"I want to, Mom, I really do. I haven't shifted since the beginning of the year. I have tried to, though. I have tried to shift, and I just can't. I am not a fake though. I am who I said I am. I am your daughter. I am Rika." I was cowering on the floor, covering my head as I sobbed over and over again. "I am Rika. I am Rika."

No one seemed to be listening to me though. Mom was about to attack me and the others were just watching on, looking at me like I was a disgusting bug of some sort. No one was going to stop this. No one would help me.

"I am Rika. I am Rika." I said the words over and over again, hoping that they would listen to me, that they would not kill me.

"I am Rika. I am Rika." It was becoming my chant, my mantra. It was going to save me when Mom sent that attack my way. It was the only way that I wasn't going to die. My hands over my heads, my sincere tears, and my repeated words. They were the only weapons that I had, and I was going to use them to my full advantage.

"Imposter child, you have been judged to be guilty. You have infiltrated the royal family to gain access to information that is none of your concern. You have taken away the daughter of this family and failed to produce her. You are hereby charged with kidnapping, murder, impersonation, treason, and lying to a Queen. How do you plead?"

"I plead not guilty, Mom. I am your daughter. I have been with you since the day that I was born. I have always been your daughter. Don't you remember when I was just almost a year old? You told me that I made the toys fly across the room when I played. Reagan did that too. And when Talia was born, we were little and at the water park. Uncle Vincent drove you to the hospital and we had to wait for Dad to get there. I remember what it felt like when you left, when you were in your coma. Your soul was in the underworld, but to me it was like you were dead. Please, Mom, you have to see that it was me."

"You lie! You took my daughter's memories. You pretend to be her well, but you are not my Rika. You are a fake."

"FAKE! FAKE! FAKE! FAKE!" They others started to chant. I knew that this was it. Mom was about to attack me, that magic wouldn't be able to be contained for much longer.

"NOO!" I screamed at them. "I am Rika. I am Rika. I am Rika." I kept up my chant, desperate to be heard over the others.

"FAKE! FAKE! FAKE!" They continued to chant right back at me.

"I am Rika. I am Rika. I am Rika."

I saw the moment that my mom cast the spell. The magic flared to life, filling the room with blue flaring heat. It was going to be a matter of moments before it got to me.

"I am Rika. I am Rika." I chanted more and more as the searing blue heat bore down on me.

"You will die here, imposter." Mom said just moments before that heat was about to touch me.

"I love you all." I whispered. "I love you. I love you. I love you." I wanted them to know, even in this moment, I loved them all. I never wanted any of this to happen.

I was giving up on my life. I wasn't able to get away. And I had no wolf, so I doubted that I had any protection against this attack. Mom was doing what she thought that she had needed to, and that was fine with me. I still loved her, even though she was mistaken.

"I love you so much."
