Capítulo 2: Chapter Two - Work

Pov Hermione/Jade

Another year passed, and the kids stopped bothering me, but in that time I had to face many fights, of which I was undefeated, my wandless magic I am polishing, but in the meantime, I can spell quills to do my homework without needing to waste time on it, as they were subjects I had mastered.

Besides the fact that my handwriting was better and more legible than that of many of my classmates, I was exercising my body and practicing more, with the little knowledge of computer classes, I managed to create a decent computer, plus a modern mobile phone, I was gradually acclimatizing my room to my taste, an electronic keyboard, an electric guitar, a drum set, a bass, among other things, little by little I was recording the songs I knew ... I also put Raven's learning spell into practice, so I was able to learn more than I expected in this world.

I was writing theories of magic implementation, also the why of potions and gathering magic from plants, making possible the theory of what a cultivator would be, having attunement to nature, without the need to make potions, although I do believe that the options are efficient, you also have to find alternatives. After passing the theory, it was time to put it into practice, which the first time was a total failure as I couldn't master it after extraction, losing the power over and over again at first, but then my ability became a little more consistent, allowing at first extraction and absorption, and then taking it to extraction and manipulation of the power.

I did not stop exercising, making my magic more powerful, thus proving the theory of the existence of the limiter in the bodies of mages, as the body of a mage was physically stronger than that of an average human, they tended to conform and simply use magic, without ever breaking the limiter of their magic... No wizard would have considered exercising like a Muggle to become even more powerful. It also depends on how powerful the spell is and how strong the protego enchantment is.

I've been practicing magic at different levels and the protection circles, also the extreme magic summoning circles, which I've put a bit of magic into, if I activate them by introducing a bit more magic, the moment I make contact with anything, it will explode. The first ones got out of control because I got excited and didn't limit myself, but now I'm loading some with different functionalities...

These would be smoke bombs, mist bombs, hot steam bombs, explosives, water bombs, and even mud bombs (effective on sloping terrain), which are useful for capture, one I used was earth bombs, where they do stand up and are buried and only the head protrudes... Which scared off the first victim, but there were no injuries.

With this, I could be a ninja, but I can't get careless so easily, this is not Naruto, but Harry Potter. Now I was with the prototypes of magical weapons before I dared to make all this, I had to enchant a bag that I always brought with me, I didn't want my now "parents" to find my experiments that they would take as dangerous. Although, on second thought, some of them were a bit dangerous.

I had certain fears, not knowing if my attempt at Occlumency, which was only practiced with pure theory, would be of any use when it came to dealing with Legermancy. If someone else tried to read my mind, the most correct thing to do at first would be to give away harmless memories, such as my living with my parents in their dental clinic, my classes at school, my games, and hours of reading stories that I found curious, prepared moments of "accidental magic" inside the house or that sort of thing, since preventing them from seeing my memories of my past life was my priority.

In my spare time, I practiced throwing the trap cards, though I should also create a basic tool that throws the pieces of paper as the accumulation of magic is done on the paper I have. I might make ones that vary in the magnitude of the explosion, for the showdown with the Death Eaters at the Ministry, if I can't convince the stubborn Harry convincingly.

I was happy with my results so far, I was almost seven years old and time was passing fast for me, I remembered my brothers, and the fact that in this life I have none makes me feel lonely and sad, forcing me to always look for something to entertain me and bring me back because while I face this, I have to be my anchor, I can't lose my sanity.

My parents commented that with my grades it wouldn't be a dream to get into a prestigious school, that made me think that they haven't noticed my magic activity, so I had to make my magic noticeable accidentally, although I didn't know exactly how I would do it, I would come up with something convincing but that wouldn't scare them away.

.

I was already on my seventh birthday, and Hermione's hair was already starting to look out of control, which made me think of many things I could do to control it, specifically, a permanent straightening, also the teeth made me feel like a rabbit, so maybe I would have to do something about this before Madam Pomfrey did it in the future.

I also began to consider different ways of earning my own money, as at some point I would need to dip into some muggle money savings, history had to take a certain course for Voldemort to be defeated for good, so I should not change too many things that were to come.

As I tried on my clothes, my mother gave me some accessories to put in my hair, she wanted me to dress up enough to stand out that day, which I accepted, but just as I was about to put on the headband I decided it was time to work my accidental magic, making the white headband take on the color of the outfit I was wearing to match it, which surprised my mother, who was extremely puzzled.

In the end, they accepted my magical gifts, with which I subsequently fixed my teeth in a discreet way, reducing the size little by little without it being something relevant, thanks to that my parents left the subject of my teeth and let me be.

After a long period of assimilation about what I would do to get money, I decided to resort to writing a novel, I didn't know if it would work, but there was no harm in trying, I wrote a fantasy story, based on the power of words, giving power to certain words, at first it was just an idea, but it took shape as I wrote, becoming a message to convey.

Once I finished the first volume, I was determined to go to a publisher, I printed my first novel, and once the manuscript was in my hands, I felt proud, so even with everything I had in mind for this story, I always had a notebook at hand, having as a goal, to reach my final decision, although I was sure I would have things to change, the joy that overwhelmed me to have finished it after months was worth it.

I didn't want to ask my parents for help, I wanted to prove that I could do things my way, although I was an adult in a child's body, I was confident in my abilities, so I decided to take the manuscript to five different publishers, I got dressed and started my journey with my backpack, where I carried what I needed, my parents at this point, trusted to leave me waiting in their dental office or in their garden, they also let me go to the nearest cafeteria.

My alibi was ready, so I set off with my map of the city in hand and at full speed in search of the first publishers, ordering the usual things at the coffee shop to throw me off the scent a bit.

The first publisher rejected me without hesitation, not taking me seriously because of my size and age, For the next three, I was upset and serious, so they agreed to review the manuscript and give me an answer later.

I was not swayed by the kind words claiming to take me seriously, so I said I would have to be reviewed there and then, upon taking that stance, the second publisher denied me that, telling me to come back when I was an adult, the third publisher said they could not, but another day I could come back and they would be happy to assign someone to review my novel. On the fourth they allowed me to make an appointment for the review, so I would have to go back to that publisher if on the fifth there was no response.

Arriving at the fifth publishing house, it was a bit smaller, but I was already a bit exhausted and I wouldn't back out, everyone was looking at me a bit strangely, they attended to me like in the others, but when I was about to leave, a man of about forty came out, who saw me angry while I was hugging my manuscript, we made eye contact, but I frowned turning my gaze away to continue on my way.

- "Hey, girl, wait a minute," - His voice stopped me, causing me to turn indignantly toward him.

- "Who are you and what do you want?" - I asked bluntly.

- "I'm the editor-in-chief of this publishing house" - After hearing that I looked at him carefully to see if he wasn't lying, he took out his business card and gave it to me, where I could read 'Dimitri Jones' - "And I want to know what made you angry, a badly printed book? maybe discontinued? I can do something to get it." - His confident expression and the way he spoke made it clear to me that he wasn't lying, but at this point, it didn't hurt to say what she wanted.

- "I want to publish a novel I wrote, I wanted my manuscript to be reviewed" - When I finished saying that he laughed at me shamelessly, that made me angry, but I knew it would happen, the others didn't, either because they didn't want me to cry, or because they didn't know how to deal with me.

He stopped laughing when he saw that I was serious.

- "Are you serious?" - He stared at me, but my look said a lot, then I looked away - "I'm sorry, I didn't mean it, I thought it was a joke" - I nodded because finding a person who is sincere as a whole is a great achievement. - "Well, if you want, in compensation I can check it little girl, but you must take into account that if it's bad I'll tell you."

- "I'm not interested in bad reviews, so you can give me your opinion without any blushes" - I answered confidently and he smiled at me, which made me trust him a little more.

He took my manuscript in surprise, maybe because he didn't expect it to look like it, he looked at me and then started to read it, he finished the first three chapters quickly and looked at me a bit surprised.

- "Did you write it?" - He asked me somewhat intrigued, to which I nodded - "No one would believe this was written by a girl your age, I admit it's good and has potential, it's a fantasy story, but it could well be suitable for all audiences and sell well." - The joy was quite a lot in me, it seemed like a good decision to stay a little longer. - "Come tomorrow and we'll talk about it, it's getting late, don't forget to bring your parents."

- "I can't bring them" - He looked at me a bit puzzled - "I want to keep this a secret from them, that's why I came alone."

- "I understand..." - He sighed and looked at me - "What do you suggest?"

- "Tomorrow I'll come and we'll sort it out, I'll come earlier than this time" - I answered determinedly while I put my manuscript in my backpack.

I said goodbye and ran to the cafeteria, but then I appeared in a bathroom. I came out of it confused, I was inside the cafeteria and my parents had just come in asking for me, I ran to them and hugged them, the waiter looked at me confused and then smiled at me.

This day ended better than I expected, that day I slept like never before, and I was calmer, although I was excited about what was going to happen the next day.

.

When I verified that I could appear wherever I wanted, I started to practice it, from my room to the bathroom and so on, that gave me more confidence, when it was time to go to the publishing house to talk to the editor, I still had the card he had given me.

My parents took me back to their office, left me to "play" and began to attend to their patients.

I went straight to the back, where there was no one there and I could not be seen, from there I appeared in the alley closest to the publishing house.

When I arrived I was called directly to Dimitri, I went to his office, but he was not alone, because there was a young man, I'm sure he was already over age, but he wasn't even thirty.

- "Hello! Have a seat" - At his words, I sat down on the nearest chair in front of his desk - "Well, I don't think we introduced ourselves properly yesterday, so, my name is Dimitri Jones, and this is Ambrose Wayne."

- "Right... I'm Hermione Jean Granger" - Introducing myself with Hermione's name made me feel a bit awkward, although I was aware that it was me now. - "Nice to meet you."

- "Well Hermione, what is your plan for working with the publisher?"

Ambrose looked surprised as he said that.

- "I want my novel to be published under an alias or false identity," - I answered confidently and Dimitri smiled at me.

We had a long talk, and Dimitri was convinced, Ambrose hadn't said or said anything the whole time we were talking, I was doubtful about his presence, but something told me that he and I would be working a long time from now on.

- "So, under what name are we going to publish your book?" - Dimitri asked, already taking note of our project, on my next visit, it would be official, I would become a writer for this publishing house.

- "That will be Jade Baker" - I answered without hesitation, I wanted to keep that name that only my readers would know, maybe here it will be Hermione Granger, but I couldn't forget who I was, my family, and what marked me as the person I am now.

- "Well then, so be it." - After that, I said goodbye and went back to the office.

The rest of the day I was at peace with myself, the tranquility I felt at this moment was indescribable, because, after all the failures in the first editorials, I was frustrated at not being taken seriously, I knew it was logical for being a child physically, but that did not give comfort to my poor soul.

The next day I took it upon myself to return to the publishing house, meeting again with Dimitriy Ambrose. We were to sign the contract today; I read it to confirm all the details we had agreed, and my happiness at the signing was impossible to hide, being Jade again filled me with satisfaction.

- "You are now officially part of the publishing house, your true identity will be protected by the publishing house." - Dimitri seemed very satisfied with everything as I was. - "Good, now I will introduce him again, Hermione Granger, this is Ambrose Wayne, he will be your new editor, I hope you get along well, from now on you will work together."

- "It will be a pleasure to work with you," - I said cordially.

- "Likewise..." - His look said all over the place that this was a strange situation, but I was just like him.

Soon the editor was called, so we were left alone.

- "Call me Hermione or Mione, whichever you like..." - When he finally relaxed it was time to hand over my manuscript, and he smiled more comfortably at me.

- "Hermione... How old are you?" - I saw his expression that said curiosity all over the place.

- "I'm seven," - I said proudly, though that was just the start of a long conversation.

A while passed in which we talked, I said goodbye, and I ended up returning quickly to the office, the holidays were about to end, and I would return to school, so we would have to meet outside the publishing house at a middle point so as not to arouse suspicion.

This was only the first step, but it was the main step for the story that was about to change.
