Life on Bastille Island was blissful for the mother-son pair. Rogue spent her time running a flower shop in the village and taking care of baby Nova. As the village was small everyone knew each other, and the appearance of a cute baby attracted the attention of the townsfolk, mainly the old nannies and aunties. Every time Nova appeared in public all the aunties lined up to play with him and pull his cheeks. During infancy, he would spend most of the day in the flower shop so the regular customers in the shop also increased. These aunties would make it their life's mission to take care of Nova when Rogue was busy in the shop.
Days passed by leisurely, when Nova was only a few months old, he could walk properly and even learned to speak by listening to the others around him. Even though it was early, nobody was shocked as there are many strong races in the One Piece world. But Rogue knew he was different, an anomaly and this secret shouldn't be shared with anyone else. For days she had traveled to the crash site and single-handedly buried the whole ship underground. She was anticipating the Marines to arrive someday to snatch away her baby. She even made plans to run away with Nova if such a day arrives, she has become too attached to this baby but fortunately, they never came.
Nova POV:
It has been five years since his arrival, growing up Nova knew that he was different, he had photographic memory since the day he opened his eyes. He could vividly remember every moment of his life, the people he met, and even the books he read. He was taller, stronger, and smarter than the kids of his age, resulting in the admiration of the adults and hate/scorn of the other children in the village.
Since his childhood, he could sometimes hear and see things others couldn't. Loud irritating noises, multiple voices talking simultaneously, and he could even see the internal body structure of others around him when his powers activated randomly. Due to all these reasons, he had difficulty making good friends as he liked to spend his time away from crowded places. Sometimes he would have recurring nightmares of floating in a dark place as he watched a planet get destroyed.
During those times Rogue would calm him down and tell him everything will be all right. Rogue was a true mother figure who taught him how to read and write and told him to become a good person in the future. She loved him unconditionally and most importantly she was his only family. His best memories of his childhood were picking flowers with his mother, playing with her, eating food made by her, and reading a lot of books.
One day he curiously asked in his childish voice, "Mom! Why am I different from the others?"
Rogue who was sitting at the counter and dressing a vase was stunned, she was in a difficult spot. Should she tell him the truth about how she found her or lie to him? Would he hate her when he eventually finds out the truth? She was in a dilemma.
"Because you are my son, always remember this, Nova. Being different is not a bad thing in this world, the stronger you are the longer you can live. You are destined for great things my son; my only wish is that you live happily."
Rogue was an honest and strong-willed woman with the blood of feared D clan running through her veins. She decided it would be best if Nova learns of his origins early, even though this world has strong races none of them can show these diverse powers. Increased super strength, vision, and hearing at a young age, she has even seen his eyes glowing red one time when he was having nightmare. If he doesn't learn to control his powers, he might hurt someone unintentionally. That night she took young Nova to the same crash site in the forest.
"Mom! Where are we going?" He asked curiously.
"Nova, five years ago I was near this forest when I found a ship that descended from the sky. I found you inside that ship." Before Rogue could say anything, Nova said, "Yes mom! I remember."
Rogue who was used to seeing Nova's exceptional physical abilities was once again shocked. "What do you remember baby?"
"Everything!!" Nova said cheerfully making Rogue speechless. They reached the crash site and funnily Nova was leading the way and Rogue was following behind him. Once again, she discovered how incredibly smart her kid was.
As they reached closer to the site the key in his necklace started to glow brightly, the ground began to shake and slowly the dropship emerged with a rumbling. Nova approached the ship curiously, suddenly a door opened, and an illuminated path appeared. They entered the ship and followed the path curiously.
They approached the center, where a single pillar emerged. After looking around the room Nova took the glowing key and inserted it into the diamond-shaped hole in the pillar. Rouge was also watching this cautiously. It was the second time she has been here and that too five years later. Suddenly a mechanical voice was heard:
*Authentication complete*
*Kryptonian subject: Alaric'El detected*
*Guiding process initialized*
