Capítulo 90: Did a Number

"Hey," she asked Morne. "What did you do to…"

Her words died in her throat as Morne stood, her icy blue eyes widening with shock.

The flames had done a number on Morne's face, leaving it red, blistered, and browless, but still recognizable.

And it was the fact that she recognized him that filled her with fear.

Although it was somewhat hard to tell under Morne's second-degree burns, she had spent hours memorizing the face of every known criminal she had access to the files of, just in case they were foolish enough to come to Tere without disguises.

But this was no run-of-the-mill criminal. As she matched his browless eyes with what she realized was dark magic that had wounded the assassin, it dawned on her that this was someone far, far more dangerous.
