Feeling uncomfortable, David lowered his gaze. Of course he knew that there were desperate people in the world and those who exploit that desperation, but they were somewhere far away, so far away that they were an abstraction that had no place in his world. But Gustav had that place, so if something like that were to happen in his life, it would automatically become part of David.

No, definitely Gustav was not part of something so evil.

"I don't believe Gustav Meiden had anything to do with something like this," David declared categorically.

Richard withdrew his scowling gaze. He smiled innocently.
