Nidia kept her head lowered when she entered the room as she was unwilling and afraid to make eye contact with some of the people inside the room.
She felt much calmer after sitting down.
Somehow, the chair solaced her. She had already experienced an emotional roller-coaster before the lunch meeting was even over.
Raising the cup, Nidia took a small sip of water before looking at the people sitting around the table.
Her gaze first moved toward a certain direction.
<I knew it. Jackson's not around.>
This realization evoked a bitter feeling in her heart, and she felt an urge to cry.
But before Nidia could dwell on it, she accidentally met Derek's eyes.
Derek still looked shocked.
As their eyes met, Nidia began to look wary. Although she knew that Derek would attend the lunch meeting, her mood was still affected at the sight of him.
Derek looked gloomy. His expression did not change at all as he looked at Nidia.
