100% To Be Feared... / Chapter 26: Classrooms

Capítulo 26: Classrooms

Hearing that Damian had a heavy slash, Jack wondered why exactly he was getting Katana. Jack could ask him for his class, but that was a taboo in this world's society. So, Jack decided to take a different approach.

"Why don't you try out a heavy sword?"

"You think so?"

"Yeah"

Taking in, Jack's advice, Damian decided to grab onto a one-edge heavy blade, with the same red glowing blade and black handle paired up with the futuristic design.

'So this bastard was going by it through design.'

Once done with helping Damian, the other two couples, joined the group. Hana was holding onto a mythical-looking bow with a white design and purple vein-like features going throughout the bow. Arthur on the other hand was holding onto a spear with wing-like features with golden designs and a white shining blade with blue runes around its edges.

Tarik and Alicia on the other hand, didn't choose a weapon.

"You guy done?"

"Yeah, do you need any help?"

"No, I'm going to help Lei before choosing mine."

Healers, magicians, and summoners didn't exactly have a weapon of choice, in the novels Jack read, the magicians would normally use wands and staffs, but in this world, they have been proven to be ineffective.

Or mainly to be ineffective, in reality, it was only the human-crafted wands and staff that lacked the ability to help the magicians improve. Other weapons found through dungeons and more showed exceptional performing abilities. However, the academy didn't have any as they were extremely rare, and students weren't allowed to bring in their own weapons.

However, even then, there was still something they could use.

Handing over a white heater shield with a golden design to Lei, Jack said, "If you can't increase your power for now, just increase your defense."

It was a simple argument, that had completely missed the other heads.

"Thank you, Mentor"

However, in the end, Jack started to grab more items after, having Lei scan them. Two swords, two spears, two round shields, a magic crossbow, and that was about it.

The others around had dumbfounded expressions at the fact, that Jack didn't care that he was basically ransacking the armory.

And finally, Jack decided to grab a silver dark kite shield, that looked like something a marauder would use. Its dark appearance, however, changed in the instant that Jack held it on. Falling to his knees, after touching, Jack felt lightheaded and tired, almost as if he had used his ability twice.

Sofia who was paying attention to the main group of S students, came rushing over and took the shield away from Jack.

The others supported Jack who was on the ground, with heavy breaths.

"Ah, I see, a self-regenerating shield. Your magic must have been instantly consumed the moment you held it."

In the hands of Sofia, the shield quickly took its original shape in a matter of seconds, transforming into a kite shield with wing-like silver designs, and blue runes all running throughout its body.

Handing the shield back to Jack who instantly stored it in his dimensional pocket, Jack thanked her before grabbing a random black sword without any design.

Damian who had the same question as everyone else, asked, "Didn't you use your axes before? Why change into a sword?"

"Because it fits my class"

Seeing as how Jack seemed unwilling to go into further detail, the group quickly moved on from the issue. Jack who was still feeling exhausted, just wanted to rest at this point. His already low magical power had been sucked dry from his bones.

And at the end, it was time for the top five to pick their armor. Armor sets weren't exactly the rarest but in the end, at the academy, they were considered a sign of power.

A hologram of the armor was displayed and all one had to do was grab onto the pendant inside, and put it on. Activating the pendant using your magic was enough to create a whole armor set.

Lei and Alicia had their choices given as there were only a few designs they could choose from, and in the end, they both chose a white robe. Arthur picked the mythical angelic armor set, and Damian picked a futuristic armor set, that Jack wondered if he actually liked. Jack on the other hand, just grabbed onto a dark-looking armor set.

After doing so, the group was about to leave until Damian, Tarik, and Alicia decided to stay for a little longer to get a shield. It seemed as though, Jack's advice struck their heads.

Finally leaving, the group headed towards the indoor gym, as it had already been an hour since they went into the armory.

The indoor gym was filled to the brim with all the students in the class, trying their best to get used to their new weapons. The teacher in charge of the class this time was Miss Sofia.

However, a problem arose for the latecomers, all the space in the room had been taken by the others in the class. That issue was quickly eliminated, as the room shifted creating a second floor right above them, with Sofia giving the group a thumbs up.

Lei smiled and then murmured, "She seems nice".

'She ain't doing this for you.'

Going upstairs, the group once again divided themselves. This time, however, it was different. Jack and Lei were together, with him helping her train. Arthur, Alicia, and Damian, however, all got into a team against Hana and Tarik.

Normally the uneven group would have been evened out by bringing the other person without a partner to help the group out but no one had come.

The training with Jack and Lei was simple.

While Jack stood around with his shield and sword in hand, Lei, on the other hand, would try to create an opening using her skeletons and finish Jack off with her crossbow.

Allowing, Lei to practice formations while Jack practiced his reflexes.

"Lei don't leave yourself open, by trying to create an opening through your skeletons, you are leaving a path directly leading to you."

"Yes, Mentor"

What Lei was attempting to do was to attack Jack from two different sides making the two skeletons walk in different directions to create an opening. However, using this fatal mistake, Jack left the skeletons behind and rushed towards Lei, who shot an arrow in complete panic, that was blocked by Jack's shield.

Slashing at her neck, Jack's blade was stopped by an all-familiar barrier. The same barrier that was used during the entrance exam. It was the only reason why the students in the academy were able to duel without getting supervised.

Patting her head before helping her stand back up, Jack returned to his previous position to start once again.

By their side, the others had changed their situation once again. This time instead, the groups consisted of Hana and Arthur versus Damian and Tarik. Alicia had to for obvious reasons stand outside the fight.

Instead approaching Jack and Lei, while dejected.

Jack tried to ignore her, as she stared at the two of them but Lei who was not used to the attention asked her if she wanted to join.

Smiling happily, Alicia came running to Lei, hugging her tightly.

"Thank you, you are so nice, Lei"

Sighing at the fact, Jack looked defeated.

"Lei, hand her your none magical crossbow."

Doing as she was told, Lei handed her crossbow and all the arrows she had over to Alicia. The magical crossbow she got from the storage allowed her to use a little bit of her holy power to create magical arrows.

Pointing his sword now at the two of them as they only wore their shields and crossbows, Jack started his lesson.

"For now, the both of you are useless, especially you, Onjouji, thanks to the barriers you don't even get to use your abilities properly, however, later on, you will be indispensable. The same for you, Lei."

"However, there is a necessity for growth, and even with all this training, we will not gain any abilities nor increase in strength. The only ways are..."

Alicia who already knew the answer, responded, "Through purification and might"

Purification referred to the term of killing demons, monsters, or corrupted, gaining power depending on the demon you have killed. Might on the other hand referred to the act of creating miracles, and doing unimaginable things.

The simplest way for aspects to grow stronger was through killing monsters, and where does one find monsters? In the outside sometimes but mainly in the dungeons.

That was the main reason as to why such important weapons were given to some random students. It was to help them survive their future difficult battles.

'I don't understand why they don't give an armor piece to all students, though.'

Armor in this world wasn't rare but nevertheless, the students didn't all receive one. Jack thought about it but didn't find any reason as to why.
