As the ship started to descend the mountain, the closer they got to the bottom, the more confused everyone became.
"Luffy, is there really another mountain at the bottom of this pass?" Nami asked in a confused voice. Luffy looked at her with a confused look before he spoke.
"No, why?" he asked. Nami pointed at the front of the ship causing Luffy to turn around and look at where she was pointing. At the base of the mountain, where the canal enters the Grand Line, Luffy sees something rather large blocking the exit.
"It wasn't there 10 years ago," he said, looking forward. Suddenly a strange sound filled the air as they descended. It sounded like an animal wailing or crying. As they got closer to the bottom Luffy looked at Johnny and Yosaku and shouted orders at them.
"Get to the helm and prepare to steer the ship or we'll crash into whatever's ahead!" Luffy screamed, causing them to run in, but they came back screaming at him.
"AHHH THE STEERING IS BROKEN!" Their shouts caused Luffy to sigh. Luffy then proceeds to summon large clouds and merge them into the large clouds already around the ship to increase the layer if they hit anything. As they got closer, the unfamiliar voice grew louder and louder.
"What sound is that?" Nojiko asked while putting her hands to her ears to try and hear her voice a little better. As the ship got closer, Luffy was finally able to figure out what it was.
"Oh crap," said Luffy. "It's a giant whale!" His screams made everyone panic.
"Luffy we are moving too fast, if we don't slow down your cloud won't be enough to save us!" shouted Nami. Luffy turned to Usopp and shouted an order.
"Usopp, go to the main gun out front and fire when I tell you to" she said causing Usopp to run below deck. As the ship got closer and closer, everyone started to get more scared as the ship quickly approached the giant whale.
When they were twenty feet away from the whale, Luffy shouted. "NOW, USOPP!" he shouted, causing Usopp to fire a cannon. When the cannons were fired, the ship jerked backwards slightly, sending Nami and Nojiko tumbling onto the deck, before it began to slow down.
The ship didn't come to a complete stop, but just enough for the clouds to absorb the impact that was about to occur. When everything happened, the ship was safe and everyone was alive, which was what Luffy wanted.
"Grab the oars and start pedaling this thing!" Luffy's words caused Sanji, Zoro, Johnny, and Yosaku to grab both oars and begin rowing to the left of the giant whale and away from danger.
As they paddled around the whale, Luffy got a chance to get a good look at it. It was a very large black whale comparable in size to or larger than the Sea Kings of the Calm Belt.
The whale has multiple scars on its head, which Luffy guesses were caused by it hitting its head into the Red Line for reasons unknown to him.
"That's a huge whale," said Sanji while rowing, causing everyone to nod their heads while looking at the whale in amazement and with a hint of fear.
It was then that the whale suddenly looked at all of them with its enormous eyes, causing the eyes of everyone on board to widen.
"I don't think he likes us shooting him with cannons" Luffy said with a laugh as the whale opened its mouth and roared loudly while showing everyone enormous teeth bigger than the Going Merry.
As his mouth opened the water from the sea flowed into his mouth and down his throat. The Going Merry is also attracted to the water sucked in by the whale, causing the entire crew to panic.
"We're all going to die!" shouted Nami.
"Is this how we end!?" Usopp shouted. Luffy stepped forward and coated his hands in lightning getting ready to kill the whale, when suddenly the whale's mouth closed and it started diving underwater.
"Damn he went diving" said Luffy knowing if he punched a whale now they would all die for sure. Everyone looked ahead and saw they were about to crash into the whale's belly then they closed their eyes including Luffy.
Everyone waited and waited for their doom to come, but it didn't happen. So, they decided to open their eyes to see what was going on, and what they saw made their jaws hang from their mouths.
"Is this real?" Sanji asked in disbelief.
"I don't know. I believe we got swallowed by that whale." Johnny said while Yosaku nodded behind him. Ahead of everyone, they saw an open sky filled with birds in the air and to the right of the Going Merry.
There is a small island with a house on it. This confused everyone; one minute they were swallowed by a whale, and the next they were back out in the open ocean.
They all turned towards Luffy to see if he had any idea what was going on, but Luffy shook his head indicating he didn't either.
"I don't know what's going on, but I know for a fact, we're not in a real ocean," he told everyone before he walked to the side of the ship and looked into the water.
"The water here is green and the sky above is a painting," said Luffy pointing at the sky. Before the rest of the crew could respond to what Luffy said, a giant squid emerged from the water and prepared to attack them.
Luffy thought everyone would be frozen and terrified, but instead, they were all ready to attack. This reaction causes a smile to appear on Luffy's face. Zoro's hand goes straight to his sword, Sanji gets ready to kick him, Johnny and Yosaku take out their bisentos getting ready to attack, Nojiko takes out her three-section staff and starts spinning it, Nami takes out her bo-stick and stands beside her brother getting ready to attack, and the most surprising of all was Usopp with his slingshot aimed at the squid.
Luffy had hypothesized that the rest of his crew could sense the Squid was about to appear and get ready, he also liked the way his crew reacted to threats that appeared. He didn't even have to do anything; he was sure they could handle it.
When they were all about to attack, three spearmen suddenly came out of the house on the island and stabbed the squid in the head and killed it. Luffy narrowed his eyes and looked towards the door of the house then saw a man slowly coming out from the shadows of the house.
