Capítulo 114: Chapter 114: The Source of Elif's Pride!
"It seems we've greatly underestimated you, Prince Elif; not even the three of us combined is enough to defeat you; however, we still haven't shown our all yet. Up to this point, we have still been holding back; as Fairies, our greatest strength isn't head-on conflict but Illusions. Allow us to properly show you a Fairy's most powerful ability!" Declared the leader as he and the two other Fairies spread their butterfly-like wings, to which the Fairy avatar did the same, and the moment they did so, the surrounding light and Qi reflected off their wings before encompassing Elif into an illusion
Seeing the environment suddenly turn pitch black, a light smirk made its way onto my face, which I hid using my quạt tay while observing the illusion that I was 'trapped' in.
"Now that you're hopelessly trapped in our illusion, do you admit defeat Prince Elif?" Questioned a distorted voice, though it didn't take a genius for one to realize the one speaking was the leader of the three Fairies.
"I had great expectations for the illusions you Fairies were so well-versed in; however, if all your illusion can do is change the scenery to pitch black, I'm, once again, greatly disappointed." Stated Elif blandly as he finished observing the black environment before instinctively reaching his arm forward to block an attack.
"Ugh, that hurt. Haa, Elves and their weak physiques." Commented Elif after having been pushed back a significant distance while rubbing his arm in annoyance; however, other than that, he seemed fine.
"All of your senses have been trapped inside this illusion while we, your enemies, can perfectly see you; you may have managed to block that attack, though how many more can you block or evade before one eventually lands? The moment you got trapped in our illusion, your defeat was assured, Prince Elif; we advise you to give up." Declared the leader in a distorted voice as he used the Fairy Avatar to unleash a bombardment of attacks toward Elif, though every single one was either blocked or evaded.
"I think you misunderstand something; the only reason why you three even made it this far was that I allowed it, and while it's quite tedious to block or evade all of these attacks on such short notice, it isn't that difficult. If that battle formation allowed you to display the might of a middle or late Divine Emperor, then I admit, I'd be in massive trouble; however, against a middle Divine King, this can only be considered a warm-up, though I suppose that alone is already good enough for praise." Said Elif lightly while simultaneously dodging and blocking various attacks after having adapted to barely sensing the incoming attacks.
"Besides, while from your perspective, I may be in a precarious situation, If I so wished, I could easily defeat you three, even if restricted by this illusion; and speaking of illusion, I'm not trapped in here; I was just curious what if felt like to be under an illusion, and I must say it doesn't seem to be anything exceptional. Ahh, found you." Added Elif with a smirk as he swiftly turned to the left and fired a Gyakusatsu after blocking an attack.
Almost immediately after I fired my attack, a loud grunt of pain was heard as the relentless assault came to a halt.
"H-How, how did you find me? It should be impossible for you to sense me when you're trapped in our illusion!" Questioned the leader in a distorted voice, though it was also possible to sense slight fear in it.
"I can't sense you, though that doesn't stop me from determining your location from your attacks; I'm surprised you haven't noticed, but your attacks have a pattern to them, a very long pattern, though a pattern nonetheless, and after remembering them, I calculated their trajectory, speed, and direction, which allowed me to know your future location and when to attack. Anyways, now that I've learned, I can retaliate even when under an illusion I can end this little farce." Stated Elif calmly as he raised his hand and snapped his fingers, which reverberated a few times before the illusion that Elif was supposed to be trapped in started cracking until it eventually shattered like glass, shocking not only the three Fairies but nearly every member of the audience.
"Ahh, that feels much better, no longer confined to that black domain though I felt some déjà vu with that last scene." Muttered Elif with a thoughtful expression.
"I–I-Impossible! Y-You shouldn't have been capable of breaking out of our illusion!" Exclaimed the three Fairies in such shock that it resulted in them momentarily losing focus, which caused the battle formation to fall apart.
"Why are you acting like it's such a big deal? It wasn't like I was under a powerful illusion or something." Replied Elif lightly as he appeared before the three Fairies and blasted them with a wave of his Qi, making them lose consciousness.
"Elder, I win, right?"
"Y-Yes. Prince Elif has won the battle!" Announced the elder after regaining her composure.
There wasn't much reaction from the audience after the elder announced my victory, which slightly confused me, though I didn't dwell on it for too long before floating over to where Illumia and Eyvor were at.
"Wasn't I magnificent, Illumia?" Asked Elif with a narcissistic smile, though all he got was a smirk in return.
"My apologies, your Highness, I had lost interest halfway through the battle." Replied Illumia with a smirk, much to Elif's annoyance, as he knew she was merely teasing him.
"Tch, what about you three? Wasn't my performance simply superb?" Asked Elif as he ignored Illumia and eyed Idonea, Marley, and the slightly shocked Eyvor.
"Yes, it indeed was Your Highness. Yes, it was quite amazing! I-I don't have any words other than incredible." Stated Idonea, Marley, and Eyvor, respectively.
"Hmm, I know. I just needed to make sure you three understood how utterly amazing I am." Declared Elif narcissistically before lazily sitting down next to Illumia and fanning himself.
"Prince Elif, can you tell me how you managed to break out of their illusion?" Asked Eyvor, full of curiosity and shock since, as a Fairy, she knows just how powerful and dangerous illusions are.
"First, it was those three, and now you; why are you guys acting like breaking out of an illusion is such a difficult thing?" Replied Elif, also curious since as he wasn't a Fairy nor was he well versed in illusions, he didn't know how incredible his feat truly was.
"The act of breaking an illusion isn't that incredible or impressive, though that's only if there was a significant difference in a cultivator's will or Dao heart between the one who cast the illusion and the one who was affected by the illusion. However, that circumstance only happens between cultivators with a massive age gap as they've already had many years to refine and strengthen their will and/or Dao heart." Explained Eyvor seriously as she looked at Elif.
"Well then, congratulations, it seems you've figured out how I destroyed the illusion all on your own; my will or Dao heart must've been much stronger than theirs." Remarked Elif with a chuckle, though the way he said it was as if it was natural.
"T-That's the problem, Prince Elif! For someone as young as you to have such a strong and potent Dao heart that you could easily destroy their illusion is simply shocking!" Stated Eyvor as she found it hard to wrap her mind around the idea of Elif escaping an illusion.
"Calm down, Eyvor; if you wish to know why I was so able to destroy their illusion so easily and how come I have such a powerful Dao heart, I don't mind telling you." Said Elif with a light smile as he waved his quạt tay at her, though his words not only surprised Eyvor but also Idonea, Marley, the surrounding audience that was eavesdropping on their conversation, and even Illumia couldn't quell her curiosity.
"It's pride, my dear Eyvor. My pride is the reason for my strong Dao heart." Announced Elif as he chuckled when he saw everyone confused faces; even Illumia was confused.
"Your Highness, what do you mean by that?" Asked Illumia curiously; among the four women, she's known Elif the longest, so his words confused her the most.
"Yes, what do you mean, Prince Elif? I also have my own pride; however, I have no confidence in escaping that illusion previously placed upon you, even though I'm a Fairy." Questioned Eyvor as she, Idonea, and Marley eyed Elif in confusion as they all similarly had their own pride, especially Marley.
"Hehe, Marley; remember several years ago, on the first day of the Noble Tournament, how you and your Father confronted me after you defiantly stared me down?" Replied Elif with a question of his own as he looked at Marley with a smirk, to which she awkwardly nodded.
"So then, can you repeat what I said to you and your Father that day?"
"Why would I ever feel angry at someone who is inferior to me? They should already be happy they managed to acquire my attention." Said Marley as she repeated word for word what Elif had said several years ago that greatly angered her during that time.
"See, that's the difference between me, you, and everyone else in the OverRealm, Eyvor. You all hold pride in your skills, technique, power, capabilities, background, and appearance; while I do the same, I also hold pride in knowing that I'm the greatest, most perfect being that'll ever exist; everyone else is mere mongrels before me, whether it's you, Idonea, Marley, Illumia, Edvin, or anyone else you could ever possibly name. Knowing that, how could your measly pride or Dao heart ever hope to compete with mine?" Declared Elif with a smirk, and while you'd expect he would have a narcissistic expression, instead, he had a face that radiated pride, so much pride, that everyone in the surroundings felt some desire to submit to Elif, and the weak-willed ones even started kneeling; However, that was only for a second as the powerful undetected intent from Elif vanished as quickly as it appeared.
