Nora hated coming home. There was nothing worse than being judged by her parents, in her opinion. As she stepped foot into the Berry mansion, she was greeted by the maids doing a little curtsy out of respect.
Nora waved them off, shoving her hands into her pockets as she made her way to the nearest sitting room to wait for her mother and father to arrive. Her dad arrived first, and he greeted his daughter with a hug and a fond smile.
Nora’s mother however, was much more strict and not so carefree with her affection, opting for a squeeze of her daughter’s shoulders as the trio sat down on the white couches.
“You wanted me here?” Nora asked as she leaned back against the couch, “Why, did something happen?”
“Nothing happened.” answered her father. “Nothing like a death in the family, at least. We just thought –” her mother interrupted, holding up a hand to silence her father. He listened dutifully, though he did frown and rub his temples.
