The alpha looked back. On the grass was a motionless kobold with three arrow stuck in its body and head. The green grass was slowly being coloured red by the pooling blood.
Upon such a sight, the alpha kobold angrily growled. Looking back at the running goblins, it jumped back to the chase.
Whoosh!
The many other kobold too continued the chase. But when the alpha reached a certain rock, it scooped it up with its claws. It continued running with the rock in hand until suddenly...
Whoosh!
The alpha did a spin and mid spin it release the rock it had grasped in its hand. The rock flew in a wide arc, heading directly towards the goblins.
Bam!
Be it out of luck or skill, the rock landed in one of the goblin's head. Instantly the goblin fell just from the force on its head alone. Letting it tumble on the gassy and muddy ground. Luckily though, the goblin was wearing a helmet. Otherwise it would have died from that hit alone.
With the alpha at the lead, the other kobolds too picked up rocks on the way. and when they were in the right position...
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
The rocks flew towards the running group. A hail of rocks soon fell on the goblins. Those who were unlucky were directly hit by the kobold alpha, which caused them to fall instantly. In the group, the goblins were the ones that suffered the most. As the hob-goblin A were too sturdy to care about the coming rock attacks. Even if one lands on their heads, they would at most stumble just a little and then keep on running.
The only gremlin on the group was also doing just fine, as it was already ahead of the other goblins. With its speed and size, staying with the other goblins could easily end with death. Nevermind getting hit, it could be stepped on accidentally it it was not careful.
So that left the normal goblins as the only ones who struggled to with the hair of rocks. This was clearly evident when the distance between the goblins, and two hob-goblins started to widen. While the one between them and the kobolds grew shorter.
And as the time went on, one goblins slipped up.
Bam!
"Ahhh!"
The goblin was hit on the leg by a flying rock. It screamed in agony the moment it registered the the pain. As the pain spread, the leg failed to respond his for a moment. Forcing it to tumble down and get covered in mud. skilfully, the goblin continued the roll and managed to get itself on its two feet, getting up almost instantly.
But something gray suddenly flashed past it. The goblin looked and saw that it was actually the kobold alpha. For a moment, the goblin was stunned until...
Tcuch!
It's neck was gripped by a kobold's jaws. The kobolds tightened its grip and pulled with all it might.
Splush!
Blood splashed as the goblin's head was quickly pulled off for it's neck. With a simple push from kobold's hand, the decapitated body was slammed to the ground.
The kobolds didn't even take a second to relish in delight at the defeat. It instead continued charging foward with renewed vigor.
But of course, the goblins weren't the only ones go were having trouble moving foward. As every few seconds, an unlucky kobold would find itself triggering a trap. These seemingly random and weird traps started to breed fear within the kobolds.
As unlike the goblins who are just rushing trough with their will, the kobolds now had go be careful of what or where they stepped. Otherwise, the would find themself falling to a pit of spikes like one of the kobolds which stepped carelessly.
It was only through the sturdy body of the kobold that it survived multiple spikes piercing its body. But to the ones that continued going foward, fear started creeping in as they wondered what was actually happening.
Was the forest helping these foreign creatures? Who was next to be attacked randomly? As these thoughts start a appearing in the kobold's minds, the anger that muddle them slowly dulled in some of them till only confusion was left. Becaue of this, their charging speed got slower than what they need to.
Seeing its pack members slowly cower as the enemy slipped by, the kobold alpha frowned.
"ARRGHH!"
It's red eyes glowed in a deep seeded red as it growled what seem like an order. As if a certain switch was pressed within their minds, the kobolds instantly regained their vigor.
But as these kobolds steed out their inner turmoil, the goblin group finally got out of the deep forest and were created by an opening filled with tree stumps. Not far from the clering of stumps, a large wall was erected. In the middle of this wall, was a dark grey metallic gate that slowly rose up, inviting the returning goblins to enter.
First was the gremlins that was always at the front, it shot right into the gate, finally returning to safety.
Then came the two hob-goblins. Riddled with wounds they held on and passed through the gate. One of them finally returning home after many days away.
But as the ones having the most trouble getting through the rock storm, the goblins, were latest to go in. And even then, they only came in one by one. All of them entered untill only one was left.
But behind that goblin was the kobold alpha!
running on all fours, the kobold inched closer to the running goblin. At that point, the goblin had long discarded its weapons for faster speed. But even then, it was like it was not enough.
"Close the gate!"
The child ordered. The gate thus started falling down. The goblin saw as the gate was swiftly closing down, likely shutting down its life as well. It at that moment made a decision.
It jumped!
Head first in bolted towards the closing gate. Just inches away from the goblin though, was the alpha kobold's claw that reached towards the goblin.
Bam!
The gate clamped down and blood spilled on its gray coat.
"Ahhh!"
...
AN: so I don't know if any of you notice that yesterday or last week, we reached 49 powerstones. Which is just one powerstones away from the limit I set for an extra chapter.
tsk... tsk... tsk. But since we didn't reach 50 powerstones, I can't give the extra chapter this week.
(migi voice) How unfortunate.
But anyway, the offer still stands, 50 chapters and you shall be getting an extra chapter next week. And there is some good news as well.
I finally have an epic idea on how to end this whole kobolds stuff. So I will be picking up on writing all this story. Thus getting us closer towards what I believe is the best part about this book.
And for those interested here's a a little spoiler: We are getting a new main character!
Do you think the goblin survived?
An what exactly will the kobolds do next?
