Capítulo 6: 05: Anger Issues

Christmas was upon us! Derek happily held the large red box in his hands and shook it a little. His parents were really proud of how smart he quickly became and how strong he was, so they decided to give him a special gift for Christmas - although he has some anger issues and some moments where he lost control of his temper by throwing a rather destructive tantrum involving feet kicking the ground and purple magic flying everywhere due to the contained anger that Derek had to deal with every single day. The curse within his soul not only caused him constant and endless pain, but it also enchanted his negative emotions to some degree, anger being the only emotion that got increased out of proportion by the curse inside his soul.
And that is how he received this skill? It's more double-sided than everything else he has!
[Cursed Anger (A)]
Description: Your curse has spread and attached itself to your emotions, it particularly likes your anger, feeding it with pain to make it grow beyond proportion. It makes it harder for you to control yourself in a state of anger, but do try, for control is essential.
Passive:
+ Suppresses Positive Emotions by 50%
+ Increases Negative Emotions by 25% (Anger by 50%)
Active:
+ Anger Overload: Increases all physical aspects by 50% while decreasing your control over your actions and thoughts by 50%.]
See? A weird skill that would sometimes activate on its own- Thankfully, Derek has learned that he can control it, which is what he has been working on for the majority of the time ever since he got it. His family (read: father and mother, since his sisters were spared the details for some reason?) also worked with him to contain the curse so it wouldn't spread over his soul, and that's how Raymond got an upgrade! The ghost floating manta ray that only he could see can turn visible to anyone Derek wants, which is cool, but the most useful thing he got was new skills:
[Spirit Familiar - Manta Ray <Raymond> (A)]
Description: Given to you through a ritual, Raymond manifests itself upon your skin as a chalk-white tattoo that is alive and moving within your skin. Raymond was a healing and protective spirit, he underwent a serious upgrading process that changed his entire existence into more than just a healing and protective spirit, Raymond is now THE protector! Raymond also prevents your curse from spreading further beyond your soul!
[Higher Heal (A): Constantly absorbs energy from magic and heals damages dealt to your soul or any other soul you command Raymond to heal. Can also heal physical injuries, up to 3 people at the same time.]
[Protect (B): Upon your command, Raymond can extend a protective sphere of energy that can absorb damages. Can even protect against spells and physical damage by creating this barrier that surrounds the target of the shield, up to three people are fully protected.]
[Calm Emotions (B): Upon your command or upon detecting a dangerous amount of destructive emotions within you, Raymond will forcefully use his magic to calm those emotions. He can also do the same to up to three people!]
[Soul Sting (F): After his upgrade, Raymond received a sting that he can use to hit any target directly in the soul, the damage is minimal but the sting is covered in an esoteric 'venom' that can paralyze someone's soul, making those stung by Raymond unable to think, speak, move, or do anything for 1 second, entering a "stasis" state.]
See? Raymond became much stronger! And even more... Sentient? Well, he could make noises now, and those noises had meanings, Derek noticed he was as smart as a 3 year old child considering that he developed a rudimentary communication system that had many flaws but was really useful to communicate between themselves. "What's this?" Derek had received a bunch of gifts, one from his mother and father, one from his sisters, one from Gothay, Gethai, Venic'o, Abathon, and Agatha, as well as a few Christmas Cards from the rest of the Herd and their children. Derek met the herd for the first time in October, by then he had learned how to maintain his calm for a while and how to calm down so his curse wouldn't activate... But, oh well, stress tends to break even the strongest of preparation!

[The day his dad discovered his anger issues]
"Esse é meu filho!" (This is my son!) Ottórøg held out his son proudly above his head, making Derek think a loud 'Simba!' Since the way he was being held reminded him a lot of the scene in which that monkey held the little lion for every animal to bow to: "Ah~ Ele é tão adoravel!" (Ah~ He is so adorable!) The one Derek learned to be Aga-thean Thabonn Bethan, or Agatha for short, held out her own daughter towards him with a small smile in her lips as her brother Abathon watched from the sideline with his wife Gethai, Venic'o and Gothay also had their own son beside them, he was 3 years old and looked like a 8 year old child by human standards! "Essa é minha filha, Ahimma Verin Veronica!" (This is my daughter, Ahimma Verin Veronica!) Her daughter was a 1 year old child, her smile was adorable too, but Derek could only focus on the uncomfortable feeling of having someone too close to his face and how his first thought was to punch the child- What the fuck!?
He hates his brain.
"Oi." (Hi.) Was all Derek said as an answer, he was more focused on keeping his calm mind- like, what the fuck!? This woman is pressing her daughter closer to his face, thankfully his dad wasn't an idiot, so he pulled him back and held him right on his shoulder, where he could sit comfortably and be safely away from other children. "Ele não gosta muito de falar com estranhos..." (He doesn't like talking to strangers that much...) Otto smiled apologetically, but his herd was rather focused on the fact that he could speak in the first place! I mean, in human standards? This is beyond impossible! But in Giant standards? This is awesome and rare!
"Não importa chefe-" (It doesn't matter chief-) Venic'o smiled softly as he held out his own son towards them in the same matter his boss did, much to Derek's displeasure, but he had to endure- I mean, attacking a kid just because they were forced by their parent to get close to you is almost completely nonsensical, furthermore Derek is not willing to try and see if a giant child can survive the strongest magical attack he can do. Which is just a blast of his purple magic, which apparently is psionic magic? Magic that is supported by the mental strength, and because he has an adult mind, his psionic magic is really strong and can become even stronger as he trains it, and the best is, he can just train his mind to be stronger without damaging his body due to overuse of magic while being a child so he doesn't damage his future potential!
Mind magic is just the best, isn't it?
"Eles ainda podem se tornar bons amigos! Eles tem tempo pra isso." (They can still become good friends! They have time for that.) Abathon's grin grew wider as his son nodded to his father's words- They all have heard how great their leader was, and his son who was barely even 1 year old can do so much already! At 2 months old he can do so much more than he can! "Oi! Meu nome é Agarothon! Você pode me chamar de Agar! Eu tenho 3 anos." (Hi! My name is Agarothon! You can call me Agar! I am 3 years old.) He was friendly, and Derek had to give him that, so he took the offered hand the boy gave him and shook it with some hesitation while saying: "Derek. 2 meses." (Derek, 2 months) The language was a little hard for him to speak, he memorized a bunch of words but the pronunciation of them he had to hear at least once to practice until he was good at saying them, right now he only knew how to properly pronounce about 50 words.
"Agatha tem razão, ele é bem fofo." (Agatha is right, he is pretty cute.) Venic'o grinned to Otto, who shook his head lightly, he was about to say something when little Ahimma picked up the little blunt dagger she had around her neck as a necklace and threw it.
Right.

Derek's forehead.
If he wasn't about to explode he would've given her a 10 out of 10 for her aim, but the blood flowing down the small cut on his forehead was making him see red- Literally. I mean, the dagger was blunt and giants (Even Half-Giants) are really sturdy, so they didn't really worry about the cut nor did they worry about the pain since little Derek was always in pain, so he shouldn't feel it. Well, Agatha was about to apologize, clear the blood and heal the small cut when a purple glow surrounded Derek's whole body, his eyes glowed this menacing red color for a second before the little blunt dagger started to crack and break under a purple glow as well. "Derek-" Otto didn't even finish his sentence, the dagger was thrown back at the girl with a greater speed and with this red cracks all over the dagger, almost as if the dagger was going to explode. Agatha reacted before the dagger could hurt her little girl and placed her arm in the way and tensed her skin, covering it with her magic for a split second- There was the clinking of metal hitting metal before blood started to flow out of Agatha's arm.
"Que merda-" (The fuck-) Abathon looked in shock back at Derek as Otto took his son to try and explain to him while also reprimanding and disciplining him how he shouldn't do this kind of thing when he felt his finger crack under Derek's hold: "Derek?" He ignored it, the pain was nothing really, he was more worried about his son whose eyes started glowing red and these red veins started to flow all over skin, giving his little body a menacing look.
"Uhm, Chefe...?" (Uhm, boss?) Looking around at Gethai's worried voice, Otto couldn't help but be honestly surprised- A lot of things were floating around them, and they each had this soft purple glow around them which meant they were being controlled by Derek's magic! "Bom, todos, se protejam." (Well, all, protect yourselves) Otto sighed softly- his son was really something else, wasn't he? Each and every thing that floated with a purple glow flew towards Ahimma, the little girl was so scared that she pissed herself if the wetness on her clothes was an indicator. Agatha protected her daughter easily, this was nothing compared to fighting dragons or demons with their bare hands! Agatha was a specialist at that, seeing how she can cover her skin with magic which makes it easier for her to just punch shit to death. The only problem now was his little guy who was going berserker on shit around, destroying the walls and floor with his magic- What did Otto do? Easy!
He flickered his finger on Derek's forehead while using his magic- A tiny layer of frost covered the baby's head for a second before it faded into tiny particles of light, Otto had to use more magic than he thought he needed but he did successfully put Derek to sleep with his magic. It was a simple charm, the way he used his magic to cast it was just different! His magic turned into ice that he controlled, so he just applied the effect he wanted and made his magic enter the baby's body to put it to sleep!
Later that day he took his son to his wife to check him- it's quite normal for Giant babies to grow up with a temper, like a few angry tantrums here and there, but nothing like Derek did. At max Otto expected Derek to break a vase or something with accidental magic, not try to kill another kid! That was how they found out that Derek's curse spread, affecting his emotions and stimulating his anger and other negative emotions while suppressing positive emotions...
What are they going to do with their son? How can they help him? They had to upgrade the temporary solution to include an emotional fail-safe that would help their baby boy getting control back of his magic and emotions until they find a way to heal him of this fucking curse- Until then, Derek will have to grow up learning how to control himself and how to channel his anger into something productive! That was how, after insisting, Otto got permission from Alessandra to start Derek on his Giant Warrior Training.
Only after Christmas though-
Which is why he got a weapon for Christmas- Holding the long staff, Derek felt the magic within it.
He had a bad feeling about this...
