Reef knew it was time for him to talk to the media. Every day the news out there was like a hot ball and getting wilder. Still unable to rely on Grace, whose investigation was apparently taking longer, Reef asked Lisa Kim, his substitute secretary, to organize a press conference.
Since his company was one of the biggest in Saco, even in the state of Maine, many prominent media outlets sent their journalists to attend the press conference. Some national media also requested invitations because they wanted to cover the story. Reef told his staff to invite as many media as possible. He wanted to set the record straight, as some of the newspaper articles he read made it seem as though the CEO was involved.
