Capítulo 5: rank one silver tooth cheetah (rewrite)

Slowly, as we approach the territory of the silver tooth cheetah, we could see its cave up ahead. But everyone was extremely quiet, carefully watching where they placed their feet to avoid stepping on twigs or anything that would alert the beast of our arrival, spreading out a bit to encircle the beast. Each person took a good hideout position to strike from. One of the men heard a low growl from behind him. A chill ran down his spine as he broke out in a cold sweat, palpitations pouring down his forehead. He had frozen on the spot, afraid of turning his head to the spot where the growling was coming from.

The moment his head finally turned to face the angle the sound was coming from, he saw the yellowish predator's eyes staring at him arm length away, properly hiding within the bushes by using the leaves for camouflage. "The bea...!" He didn't complete his statement to alert the rest before a silver light flash passed him, his head gone missing too, with his body falling to the ground lifeless. The other 15-16 warriors scattered about, going on guard. The move of the cheetah was too fast for them to follow. Some were just aiming their attacks aimlessly because it ended up hitting nothing but thin air while the beast had succeeded in claiming more three lives.

I knew cheetahs were fast back on Earth, but this, this is on another level. If not for my level, I wouldn't have been able to follow its movements. It was toying with all the rank one warriors; only the rank two could hold their ground a bit.

"Hahhhhhhh!" Another miserable cry rang out, calling my attention back. One of the rank two had lost an arm, and I could still see the beast dashing back towards him to finish him off. Its efforts were futile as Andrew dashed over at that moment, striking it fiercely by the side of its neck with his dagger. He had been following the beast's movement for a while, looking for the right time to strike, carefully calculating the attack pattern of the beast. He succeeded when he made a turn in the pattern to come finish off his prey. The beast whimpered from the deep pain inflicted on it. Its eyes were full of rage as it glared at Andrew, switching its target from the others, fixing its gaze solely on Andrew.

The others used this opportunity to distance themselves from the beast's line of attack. They continued attacking from a distance if the beast got too close to Andrew, locked on a close-range battle with it. Though attacking from far was useless, as the beast would have left that place before the attack hit, they didn't give up. Andrew was giving it his all; those that could sneak an attack in did. But the beast was solely focused on Andrew. After a few rounds of exchange, both distanced themselves from each other again. Andrew could be seen panting; he had used up a lot of energy to keep up with the beast's speed and might, but the beast seemed to have the upper hand due to its speed.

Dashing over once again with amazing speed, unexpected by Andrew, the beast swiped out its claw paw, ready to claw his neck off. Andrew didn't expect that speed. Now he could notice what he had been missing all along. The beast wasn't just the regular rank one beast; he was at the peak, half a step away from rank two. No wonder its speed and strength were off the charts. Those idiot guild members had filled in the wrong information. A rank two beast equals a nascent realm expert.

When the paw was to connect to his head, a fist covered with lightning sparks landed on its head, sending it flying the way it came. The move was so fast; it astounded everyone present.

They only saw a flash of lightning, and next my figure was standing next to Andrew. He hadn't seen when I got there, nor how I moved, but he swears he saw my hands covered with lightning sparks when I punched that beast.

He was bewildered; he didn't know what to do. He recognized that skill. In fact, it was one he was using against the beast. "But how?" he just gave me the technique a few moments back. There is no way I could have mastered it in such a short time.

"Are you going to stand there or finish the beast off before it regains itself?" I asked in a nonchalant tone. The force of the punch and the might of the lightning sparks had greatly wounded the beast while stunning it at the same time. Right now, it's squirming on the floor from the shock.

Andrew quickly rushed over with lightning dash, stabbing his dagger with all his might at the head of the beast. A few powerful strikes from him put the beast out of its misery, but he wasn't happy. A few of his men were dead in the process.

The guild has to compensate for this and make sure to settle the families of these dead men, since they were the ones that gave out the wrong information. Still, the most pressing thought in his mind is the skill I have used.

I, on the other hand, went to one side to recover my lost energy. Perfect skills sure take a lot of energy. Using both lightning dash and lightning strike at the same time took a toll on my energy. If I wasn't a nascent realm expert now, I wouldn't have been able to fight another battle if I had missed my attack.

Well, the amount is enough, seeing the effect of the skills. It didn't suck much out from me, but I still needed to refill. The feeling of cultivation is intriguing. Secondly, I'm running away from Andrew's questioning gaze. There is no way I'm telling him what my martial spirit can do.

Seeing my action, he got the underlying message not to ask. As a smart man, he left that on the back of his mind while ordering the others to get all the valuables from the beast. "We might be having a good feast tonight," Andrew added to cheer the men up.

"Yeah!!!" They all echoed back before going to work. Some were cleaning the corpses of their fallen comrades while the others were getting the valuables and preparing to roast the beast.

Just then, a voice sounded from within the bushes. "Wow, wow, wow, look who got the job done for us." A group of twenty warriors walked out from behind the trees.

"Twin blade gang," Andrew muttered under his breath. This gang is well-known for their notorious dealings, especially when they have the backing of one of the big seven. Lots of killing and raping of women warriors in this forest are done by them.

"Please, we don't want any trouble." Andrew stepped forward, talking to the leading figure of the group, a man around his forties with a broad, unkempt beard. He is a rank one nascent realm expert from what I could see.

"Me too," he said with a broad, evil smile on his face. "Hand over the beast parts and all valuables with you and scram. Consider that me being merciful today.

I won't hurt any one of you," he replied, releasing a bit of his aura to suppress Andrew.

Andrew turned around to his comrades. He could see they were greatly outnumbered. Secondly, his teammates weren't in good shape, too. To make matters worse, the leader of the opposing group is a nascent realm expert. There is no way they are going to win. He subtly looked towards me, but my eyes were still closed, like I don't care about what is going on.

"What are you looking at that brat for?" He smacked Andrew on the face, causing the others to spike up, but Andrew waved them off, gesturing for them to calm down.

"You want me to change my mind?" the leader asked proudly after scanning me up to gauge my strength. Still, I was unmoved. This made him frown; he couldn't feel my cultivation. No aura was seeping off me either. It's more like I'm a mere human, not a warrior because there was no trace of energy in me.

"Trust me, you don't want to go finding trouble with him," Andrew said when he caught sight of his expression and could possibly tell what he is thinking at the moment. "If it's the beast you want, you can take it. As for valuable, we don't have any on us. We exhausted almost everything and are set to return first light tomorrow morning."

The leader pushed Andrew aside, walking over to me, stopping before me as he released his aura to test the waters before making any rash move. A frown arced on my face for a moment before I returned back to my carefree expression. The man took a step back; he didn't know if it was him or it's true, but he could swear one minute back I looked so ordinary, the next minute I looked so deep, like a cultivator hiding his powers, then again, I'm ordinary. Wanting to play it safe, he turned away from me since I didn't want to get involved with the happenings around me. He faced Andrew and was ordering him around, packing up the beast, and ransacking the warriors for valuables.

"If you take away the beast, I'm sure you would offer yourselves to be made as dinner for me," I said from the side, with my eyes still closed. Being too lazy to interfere with their business for now as I'm checking what my martial spirit can do, I found out I can deactivate any of the vortating light orbs and reactivate it by will. This sure had opened more curiosity inside of me. At present, there are four bubble orbs in the space: three green bubbles with grid patterns in them and a purple bubble with a spiral pattern within it, having an almost invisible string connecting it to the core of the sphere.

"What did you say?" the leader shifted his attention back to me. "Lad, don't be full of yourself. Just because I didn't want to pick a fight with you, doesn't mean I'm scared of you. The Twin Blade Gang is never scared of anyone. We are under the umbrella of the Wilson family, so you better mind yourself and not meddle with our business." He wanted to intimidate me with the name of a certain family. Unfortunately for him, I don't really know much about the families of this world but this name. I frowned, wondering where I've heard of this name before. Thinking a bit hard for a moment, the name registered back in my mind, and a murderous rage filled my heart.

"Too bad you have to be the first I would be taking my pound of flesh from. Blame it on your luck. Next time choose a good family to go under." Those were the last words of mine to the man, and the very last words he heard too before his vision went black. He didn't see me move; one minute, I was still sitting cross-legged, the next I'm standing in front of him. The whole thing took just seconds till the very last moment. All he felt was a piercing pain in his heart; the next moment he could see his own very heart beating in my hands. Those behind didn't know what was going on; all they saw was the man before me slowly going down on his knees, after which his body slowly fell to the ground, revealing a slowly beating heart in my bloody hand, my expression unchanged and unmoved. When I turned my gaze to the other members of the gang, they swallowed hard because those gazes were the gazes of a predator.
