Capítulo 89: Chapter 89: Sad Realization

"Where is Simon." She asked causing him to halt in his steps.

"He left in the morning." Sherman replied turning to face her.

"To where?" She asked with the built up anger she was feeling earlier finally dissipating.

"I actually asked him same question when he was about leaving. I asked him what to tell you and Miss Anna when the both of you get back. I guess he wanted to tell me cause I noted his reaction but........"

"Sherman please, I have a headache." Paige cut in obviously not in the mood for Sherman's endless chatter. Knowing fully well that he will still end up not saying anything meaningful and today was not the day for such unnecessary conversations. "Do you know where he went to? Please it's a yes or a no answer." She stressed.

"No, I don't Miss Paige. Nevertheless, to find out, you can....."

"Thank you Sherman." She cut him off. "Thank you so much. I'll be in my room now. Kindly hit up the cold meal, I'll be down in a bit to eat it."

"Very well ma." He replied and continued his short journey to the kitchen to dish out instructions in relation to Paige's dinner while Paige continued upstairs to her room. Getting to her door, she was welcome with a box of fresh flowers placed in front of her room. She bent over and picked up the box. She didn't need a soothsayer to know who kept the box there. Pushing her door open she stepped into her room to meet Samira standing beside her bed waiting for her.

"Good evening ma'am." Samira greeted.

"Hello Samira." Paige called cheerfully. "How are you?" She asked.

"I'm very well ma" she replied.

"Did anybody miss me at all?" She asked looking at her with a smile. "Nobody seem to have missed me around here."

"I did Miss Paige." Samira replied shyly. "The boss also missed you." She added in a whisper with a shy smile.

Paige reciprocated with a smile, carefully placing the box of flower on her bedside drawer before throwing herself on the bed. "Do you need help with undressing? And should I unpack your bag?" Samira asked.

"Oh no, I'm fine dear. I can help myself." You replied You can go please." Samira left the room and locked the door behind her. Paige took few minutes to catch her breath before standing in front of the mirror. She took a look at herself in the mirror and felt so odd. Funny how she seemed so happy and looked more beautiful and cheerful just two days ago. She searched for that glow within her but saw none. Her life suddenly felt empty. Before leaving Creek Island, she had thought she had a connection with Frankie. But seeing him and spending few moments with him, she realized that he was not all that. In fact, she realized she had a wrong impression about him from the onset. Frankie was a bully and she felt bad remembering the way he spoke about his brother without remorse. He literally care less of how other people felt.

She recalled her earlier thought about him when she attempted comparing him with Simon. Back then she saw him as a stable and focused gentleman. Someone she'd have a stable life with instead of Simon who's life look and sound too complicated. But at this point, she just want a simple life with a man that will treat her well and of course, he have to be able to take care of them too. Though she isn't planning on been idle, she was no longer willing to run two shifts with a business on the side just to make ends meet. She wanted to live a normal life, work as much as she can and not like she have the burden of the whole world on her shoulder.

She thought of her life before Kentley mansion and shuddered at the rate of suffering she went through. She remembered her step mother and came at the verge of tears. Simon did help her get rid of her step family but let's face it, he still requested something in return. So, it wasn't without a price. He claim to love her, "why not give me back the house for free? Why do I need to pay back by staying with him for a whole year" she thought aloud. "Oh Paige, you are acting entitled. You have no right whatsoever to this man's money. He owe you nothing." She reminded herself.

He only offered to help and she accepted. He did not in anyway force her to sign that contract few days ago. In fact, she did it willingly. She unzipped her dress successfully and slipped it down her waist. Putting on a bathrobe, she decided to unpack her bag before proceeding to the bathroom. Her bracelet was the first accessory she saw on top of the folded cloth immediately she unzipped her bag. She picked it up wondering what it was doing up there as she remembered packing it in the sidebag so as not to loose it. And this was even before breakfast at the Tedson's mansion this morning.

After few seconds of silently holding the bracelet up trying to recall ever putting it at the spot she found it but without any luck. She finally put the bracelet aside and continued unpacking her bag.

Once she was done unpacking, she headed to the bathroom but was stopped in her tracks by her call ringtone. "Hello," picking up, she said into the cellphone.

"Hello princess." Frankie called.

"Frankie, I am still mad at you please. Just leave me be."

"Frankie, what happened to Babe?" Frankie asked in the sweetest tone ever.

"You tell me. Cause I'm still trying to wrap my head around your reason for sending me away to Creek Island with your brother, why you had to speak about him in such manner earlier and for god's sake, why are you so mean to him?"

Frankie paused as he raged with anger. He struggled within himself pushing the anger to a farther part of him. "I'm sorry." He finally said. "I've been a jackass today, I know this. But I'm very sorry." He apologized. "I was actually mad at Felix over something he did the previous day and I allowed myself to behave in such a childish manner. Moreso, lately I've been feeling saturated with work. The whole stress is beginning to get to me. I really do not have how to explain this. But my father seem to have pushed a great chunk of work to me and it's taking its toll on me." He explained. "Princess," he called. "Could you forgive me for my behavior today and perhaps give me a chance to prove myself?" He asked.

Paige kept mute for a while as she made a mental check of how she was feeling and if she truly believe a word of what he is saying.

"Princess." Frankie called again pleadingly.

"It's fine Frankie." She replied. "Let's just take this whole thing one step at the time henceforth." She said. "You need to take it easy at work too. You are human and your body can only do as much. Do not over strain yourself. Seek for help when you need one please." She told him totally concerned and worried about him.

"I will henceforth." He replied.

"Promise me." She requested.

"I promise princess. I will only do as much as I can and I will make out more time for us. I want you, I don't want to loose you. If doing this means that I'll be able to make you mine, then I will. I love you Paige." He added.

Paige shooked her head with the knowledge that Franklin was not seeing what she was doing right then. Earlier she would have said she loved him as well. But she had spent some time with him and he is in no way what she wanted for herself, so she smiled. "Let's see how this goes Frankie. I'm not so sure of what I'm feeling right now. So, let's see how it goes." She replied.

"That's okay." Frankie replied a little downcast. I will make it up to you, I promise." He tried reassuring her but ended up reassuring himself as Paige didn't really take his words seriously.

"I have to go now." She told him. "I need to take a shower. Let's talk soon." She proposed.

"We'll talk soon." Frankie replied and hung up. She quickly made her way to the bathroom while Frankie on the other end sat still. The rage he felt before was replaced with lots of surging emotions that he couldn't put a name to. Ranging from fear, pain, anxiety to regret. He silently prayed that he won't loose Paige as he started plotting of ways to win her back. He still couldn't understand why he behaved the one he did during her visit. He had plan of being in his best behavior and pushing away any atom of doubt she might have still left in her only fir him to mess everything up.
