Capítulo 14: Chapter Fourteen
On the other hand, Ruby cried for almost an hour beside the pillar, making her eyes red and her face puffy. Her injured toe was bleeding slightly but was the least of her problem at that time. The guy she has cherished for a long while just betrayed her.
Kelvin came in as her guardian angel when she was in need of it. She loved him but he destroyed that She offered her virginity to him on a platter of gold so what else was he searching for?
"So guys can be so useless they act like they care but at the end they don't, ohh Kelvin I detest you and I hate all guys" Ruby screamed.
The people passing by were looking at her but she wasn't even bothered. She finally wiped tears and began to go home but she had barely taken three steps when the tears kept dropping again until she arrived home at night.
Janet was already outside awaiting her arrival
"Hey Ruby what's up, i was just about coming to Kelvin's house to look for you . . and why are you crying" she asked, holding Ruby's hands.
Ruby looked at her with a tearful face
"He cheated on me, he betrayed me, that girl wasn't his cousin Janet, i caught them making out
"Shhh... I know already, but it's sad you're the one who got hurt" Janet said, raging with anger but trying her best to keep calm
"you're right Jane, I'm really blind at noticing things, I should have seen that he was cheating by not calling, not taking my calls, ignoring my messages, saying he was engrossed with work. "All these excuses Jane I've been a fool" Ruby said and broke down again but Jane hugged her tightly.
"Ruby please don't cry, I know how much it hurts but stop crying I beg you, it pains me seeing you in this condition" Janet said, patting her back
“Jane what should I do? I've been used and dumped"
"No Ruby he just doesn't know your value and believe me, somebody who knows how much you worth is around the corner, so please stop the tears and let's go in" Janet said pleadingly "see how you've ruined your beautiful face already"
" Thanks Jane, but it still hurts" Ruby said to Janet as her tears subsided
"Do you mind grabbing a drink at the club so you can forget about everything?" Janet asked
Ruby broke the hug and faced her
" Where do we go?" She asked but Janet smiled at her.
Richard stormed into his house and instantly took a bottle of alcohol from his winery. He walked round his room as he opened it and drank it down his throat.
He took it off his mouth and held his head as his migraine was trying to come but he's trying hard to resist it.
"Val" he let out a loud scream and smashed the bottle on the floor and It shattered with the remaining content in it.
"Albert, Val" Richard screamed again. To him, the real betrayer wasn't Val but Albert.
"He's a sex maniac who can even have sexual intercourse with a dog but is Valerie a dog?" He questioned himself
"Of course she is" he answered himself
"No wonder I sighted him coming out of her street the other day, and the change of her lips tasted different and also her change of attitude. Oh my God, i can't believe I've been so foolish" Richard lamented hitting the wall.
His eyes were bloodshot already
"Albert and Valerie, you both are dead trust me" Richard said seriously before going to the winery to take another alcohol.
IN A CLUB
"Jane I love you so much" Ruby screamed at the top of her voice
She was sitting on a chair beside the bar stand, obviously drunk with a bottle of alcohol in front of her while Jane sat beside her, watching her actions
"This is not the wise decision but what can I possibly do? I can't watch you cry all night" Janet thought
" Janet how are you?" Ruby asked rolling her eyes in a drunken manner.
" I'm fine Ruby" Janet replied tagging along
" Of course you're fine and I love you a lot!" She screamed again, gulping another bottle of alcohol
"Are all guys like Kelvin?" She suddenly said
"No Ruby, Kelvin was just a jerk and once or twice in our lives, we come in contact with jerks who make us feel like exiting the world but you know giving up is not the best of ideas" Janet replied
"Then why do I have to meet a jerk like that as my first love?" Ruby asked, taking another gulp
"Perhaps that's how it was meant to be but it's fine, at least you'll be able to focus on bigger wins" Janet replied with a smile
Ruby brought her face closer "Bigger wins, what's that?" she asked stretching her brows
"You'll get to know Ruby, now I think you've drank enough, time to go home" Janet said and attempted to take the bottle from her but Ruby held tight, not willing to let go
She gulped the remaining alcohol in the bottle down her throat at once before throwing the bottle on the ground and it crashed into bits then she laughed out loudly
"Now Kelvin, It's you I just crashed, bye cheater!" Ruby said and started going down, but Janet quickly caught her with the long hair covering her face and she slept off immediately
"How pitiful, but it's better than seeing you cry all night" Janet said before taking her out of the club house and boarded a cab that took them home
She took her in and laid her on the bed before covering her properly with the duvet and sighed, looking at her pitiful self
"I'm sorry Ruby" Janet said and slept beside her..
Richard couldn't sleep a wink last night because of the constant migraine throughout. He wwot a lot and almost assumed he won't make it alive in the morning. He felt like his head was detached from his neck It was so really painful but it subsided in the morning although he could still feel slight headache. He entered the bathroom and had a slow bath, spending almost an hour in the bathroom
His eyes caught the ring on his finger and his mind remembered Ruby and he smiled surprisingly. maybe that's how much his feelings towards her has grown then he kissed the ring and suddenly, he got the strength to completely bath himself.
After bathing, he went to his room and wore his clothes hence it was cold that morning and with the look of things, perhaps he may not be able to go to work
"But that was the only place he'll get to see her" He thought as he sat in front of the mirror hiss lips was already chapped and pale even at the fact that he has his bath not long ago
He greased his finger on his lips but it made him remember Ruby doing her lip thing then he smiled
"I'm finished, it's almost eight already oh my God!" Ruby screamed immediately she saw the time after waking up and Janet wasn't beside her any longer.
"Janet!, Janet!" Ruby called but got no response then she saw a note on the bedstand and she carried it and read.
"Ruby, I'm off to work, you can take today off I'll just inform your boss that you're aren't feeling fine. I prepared food so ensure you eat ok?, I love you see you in the evening"
"No I can't, Mr Richard may penalize me again and I can't take that so i must go to work even if he scolds me for lateness" she thought, standing up from the bed
But her phone rang immediately and she carried it from the stand, it was a message from Janet
*You might want to be stubborn and still want to come to work but relax dear, your boss is absent from work today so you're covered*
"Even at that, I'm fine now, I can still go to work" she said and made to enter the bathroom but her eyes caught her worn out shoes, the one she wore before Janet gave her more shoes
One of the reasons she hadn't dispose it was because it was the only gift she got from Kelvin but now he's gone
She hardened her facial expression and walked carefully to where it was and grabbed the shoes and threw it out through the window
"It should better be in a river, fuck Kelvin" Ruby said before entering the bathroom...
Ruby got to work and peeped at the office to make sure her boss didn't actually come
"He actually didn't come" she thought
She sat on her seat and inhaled hard, having thoughts about him untill she decided to carry her laptop and began working seriously. She accepted the qualified proposals and rejected the non eligible ones on his behalf and set appointments for him, cancelling the ones for that day hence he was absent.
Within the space of an hour, she was done so she stretched herself and yawned lightly
"I'm hungry" Ruby complained to no one in particular untill her mind suddenly drifted to the day Richard bought her lunch.
She smiled, stood up and went to his office slightly shutting the door and entered fully
"Memories are here" Ruby said
She recollected how he made her eat there and how he instructed her to stay away from Andrew.
She touched his laptop and smiled "I wonder why he's not here" she thought.
So she went out and carried her phone and dialled his number but he wasn't responding. After several trials, she kept her phone looking bothered
"I just hope he's fine wherever he is?" Ruby prayed
Instantly, Janet walked into the office.
"I knew you were still going to come. you're nothing but a workaholic" Janet said with a glare but Ruby laughed.
" I know right? I just can't stay at home idle" she replied
"Have you eaten?"
"Not yet" Ruby replied
"Then let's go get something to eat" Janet said, pulling her up
"Wait Jane, what about your boss" Ruby said
"Well, he left early, and he was a bit restless, maybe a fight transpired between the brothers" Janet said
" I'm worried about Richard" Ruby said and her eyes widened. Realizing what she said, she covered her mouth
"No I meant boss" she immediately corrected but Janet chuckled
" Don't worry about that, because it wull soon be the case anyways" Janet said dragging her out
At night, Richard rolled from one side the bed to another He has been like that since morning. The headache has subsided but he was very tired to lift a finger Even when his phone rang, he had no strength to pick.
After taking a deep breath, he said to himself
"I'm not prepared to die yet because I still have a lot to say tell someone"
He mustered all the strength in him and carried his phone from the table and saw that he has twelve missed calls from Ruby"
"Damn" he muttered before dialling her number and she responded at the first ring
"Boss, I've been worried you've not been taking your calls and not responding to your texts is everything ok with you?" Euby aaked
"Ruby, can you please come over to my house? I'm weak and I think I need someone to be with me" Richard said weakly
"Ok sir. Your address please" Ruby asked quickly
"Ogbuehi Avenue mansion 11" Richard replied and Ruby hung up Immediately.
Ruby got to the address and her eyes widened
"It's huge well I don't expect less from a billionaire" she said while accessing the environment. There were more than ten exotic cars and most of it was white even the mansion was painted white
"Maybe white is his colour, he looks good in it anyways" she thought before ringing the doorbell which was opened by one of the maids.
"Ruby" she said with a smile
She was ushered in and she smiled at the sight
"Boss is upstairs, first room by your right. Please take proper care of him because he refused us coming closer to him or take him to the hospital" one of the maids said
" Hospital? is it that bad?" Ruby asked
"Just go to him quickly, please" the other maid replied
Ruby immediately rushed upstairs by then, the time was already some minutes to nine and everywhere was dark already. When she got to the room, she opened the door to the first room and truly saw him lying on the bed weakly
"Boss!" Ruby called running to kneel beside him on his bed then he opened his eyes and smiled when he saw her
"You're here" he said, feeling very happy
"Why didn't you permit your maids take you to the hospital, have you eaten? How exactly are you feeling? You don't look good at all, how can you let it get this bad" Ruby asked but Richard smiled.
" Why does it feel good to hear you complain" He asked
"Hmmm let quickly fix something for you to eat" Ruby said
"Don't bother because I'm not hungry" he replied
"Then let me take you to the hospital" she said, feeling his temperature
"I don't want to go to the hospital either" he replied
"But your temperature is high" she said
" I actually dislike the smell of hospitals" he responded staring at her as she bit her lip making his heart race. She decided to bring a damp towel to place on his forehead but he also rejected that. Finally she sighted his drugs on the table and got off the bed to get it but Richard held her hand in a firm manner
"What's the problem?" She asked
"Ruby, can you be my medicine tonight?" He requested emotionally
"What?" Ruby asked confusedly
"Your presence here is the reason why I have the strength to talk, please don't go away" Richard said then immediately, he pulled her to himself on the bed and she descended on top of him with widened eyes too shocked as their faces were just an inch away from each other so Ruby began to breathe intensely and she blinked like a doll repeatedly.
"I'm sorry about what's about to happen but i can't help it anymore" Richard said coming close to Ruby then he covered her lips with his lips in a deep kiss
Ruby hasn't gotten over the first shock and now this?
Her eyes remained opened as she watched him devour her lips because she was too shocked to reciprocate
"Boss" her heart screamed
Richard bit her lower lip slightly in order for her to open up thereby granting him access to her mouth
She noticed her eyes began to close and her body welcomed the kiss as Richard sucked on her tongue desperately, resting his hands on her hips
"Wait" She thought, suddenly coming back to her senses
