Capítulo 12: Chapter Twelve
She conformed by binding her mouth with it instantly.
He undressed her himself and made her lay on the floor with her chest down..
He pulled off his shorts and trousers and went down with her. After consuming a good moment making out with Val in the restroom, Albert was headed to his office when he suddenly came across Ruby at the lobby, as she was about going to the restroom.
She greeted him modestly by bowing and wanted to leave but he roughly dragged her back, making her to look at him.
"Is there a problem sir?* She queried stuttering.
"I want to make out with you" he said emphatically, accessing her body with his ravenous eyes.
"Release me" she whispered, trying to break free but he pinned and trapped her to the wall .
"Make me" he said and tried to kiss her but she struggled with him, making sure it doesn't happen
She struggled to release one of her hands and it reached for her hair. She detached the hairpin and plunged it into his shoulder and with that, he released her instantly;
She held the pin up, breathing heavily "Step forward for a moment, and I'll murder you.
Blood was already gushing out of his wounded shoulder, as he held it.
Ruby ran out of the place.
"My God" He raged as his shoulder bleed continually.
"You got what you asked for" Richard exclaimed from the spot he stood watching them. He was really beholding the spectacle but when he wanted to prevent his brother from having his way with her, that was when she defended herself by piercing him with her hair pin.
"Big brother" Albert called.
"Albert, so you took my advice for granted even after I instructed you not to toil with her"
"You know I certainly do not seduce twice if the first effort isn't positive, I give up and that's my rule so you win. After all, she's better than your fiancée"
"What do you mean by that?" Richard asked.
"My apologies bro but Val is a slut. By the way, I need to go get my shoulder treated at the hospital” Albert answered and left him.
"My fiancée is a slut, really? He doesn't talk without a reason" Richard thought.
Saturday
“Finally I can rest, It was stressful all through the week!" Ruby yelled the moment she woke up and Janet chuckled.
“So where should we go today?" She asked.
"Let's just journey round Lagos and enjoy!" She screamed.
"Of course, let's get ready" Janet replied as they left the bed.
Meanwhile, Richard couldn’t sleep last night. All he did was ponder about his secretary hence Valerie was far from his thoughts.
"I think I'm definitely under an enchantment" he confirmed as he rose from his bed.
He went down and ordered the maids to get him a cup of coffee which was brought in a jiffy and he settled on a couch viewing a pageantry show. The model on display was curvy like Ruby, she's wore a crop top, exposing her navel which reminded him of Ruby. He turned off the Television and attempted to drink the coffee but her face was even appearing inside the cup.
He placed the cup on the dining table and opened the freezer to take a drink but all he's seeing is her. He closed the freezer in frustration and relaxed on it.
“Ruby, what have you done to me?" He thought, scattering his hair. He went back to his room and decided to have a bath. Stepping into the tub, his eyes were focused on the ring he wore on his finger.
“Oh Ruby “he called, taking it nearer to his lips.
He nearly kissed the ring but he prevented himself. He finally came out of the tub after a clean shower
"Now, what will I do today?" He questioned himself.
"Val, I truly lack what to make of you"
He stared at his phone and thought of who to call
“Oh Julius, That fool"
He rang his number and he responded straightaway
“Hi fool"
“Hey idiot you called, I should jot it down for the records" Julius said
“Shut up, I'm on my way to your house"
"Really? You're always wanted, but ensure you eat before coming because I can't prepare anything for an ill-mannered fool and neither can my maids cook for you"
"Shut your mouth" Richard said before hanging up.
He left his room and met his driver who was already waiting beside the car he will be taking out. He got into the car and the drove to Julius house.
"Lagos is lovely!" Ruby screamed during the bus cruise
"I know right? No place like home" Janet responded
The bus took them faraway into various streets in Lagos and Ruby couldn’t help but shout and laugh all through. The tour concluded at midday and they got off the bus, they proceeded to watch a movie at a cinema.
"Richard, did you come here to sleep" Julius asked tapping Richard who was asleep on the sofa, cuddling a pillow. He has been like that since arrived Julius house
"I'm not sleeping, my eyes are just shut"
"Is anything disturbing you? You look worried" Julius asked
Richard sat up
"Julius look into my eyes and tell me what you see" Richard said
Julius watched intensely into his eyes and beamed
"I see insanity"
Richard sighed "You may be correct after all, I really have no clue on what I'm doing any longer"
"Something is certainly not right" Julius said.
Richard stood and carried his phone “I think I'm missing someone so desperately perhaps, listening to her voice will soothe my pain away.
“Are you out of your insane?, Why ask again, that's the only solution though it'll only make you miss the person more, by the way are you talking about Valerie?" Julius asked
"I and Val had an argument so we're not having a good rapport"
"Then, who be that?"
Richard ignored him and dialed Ruby’s number. She didn't pick at the first ring but eventually did at the second ring.
"Before you question me about who I am, it's me" he said, hopeful she'll remember his voice
“Boss, how’s your weekend going?"
"Not good at all, I honestly can’t reason appropriately but never mind"
“Ok"
“So where are you at the moment?"
“Am at the Cinema with Janet"
"Sure?"
"Yes sir"
He dropped the call and pulled Julius up.
“Don’t tell me you're placing me on auction" Julius asked, watching him
"I wish I could do that but no one would love to purchase a goat. Now, let's go Richard said dragging him out of the house,
"I can't imagine I'm being pulled out of my own apartment" Julius said
"Keep shut and follow me" as he kept dragging Julius till they arrived the parking lot.
"Now tell me where we are headed"
Richard made him sit in the car
"You have no right to be aware until we arrive there" he said and closed the door
"To the Cinema" he told his driver
"Cinema" Julius virtually screamed.
"Who called?” Janet asked the moment Ruby ended the call
"My boss, he asked where I was"
"I knew it, maybe you should get ready for another surprise" Janet responded with a beam
“The time is almost eight and it's now becoming dark let's go back home, I'm tired" Ruby said
"We haven't even finished watching our movie"
"Maybe some other time, it appears like it'll rain and I don’t want it to"
"Well, I don’t think so" Janet replied as Richard’s car arrived and stopped in front of them then Richard alighted with a new gentleman
"Boss" Ruby said astonishingly
He walked up to them
"You truly came?" Ruby said still in shock.
Sincerely, Ruby was excited to see him because his thought has secretly preoccupied her mind lately.
Julius on the other hand focused his attention on Janet and she couldn't help but noticed so, she ensured there was no form of eye contact with him so it won't feel strange.
"Julius could you assist by keeping Janet company for now? i need to have a moment with Ruby"
Julius stared at Janet once more but this time, their eyes connected and he smiled
"Why not"
Richard held Ruby's hand without warning and pulled her out of sight to the balcony of one of the buildings.
He really wanted an embrace from her with an assurance that all will be well
"I truly wasn't anticipating your arrival" Ruby said, biting her lips again .
They both stared at each other for a moment
Lightning struck, signifying that it was about to rain
"It shouldn't rain tonight, I don't want to get sick again" she said fearfully
"What’s the meaning of that"
"It's nothing Sir"
“listen Ruby, you can confide in me?"
"Actually I'm an orphan and I grew up at the orphanage"
Richard looked at her in amazement
" My parents died in a fatal car accident on a rainy night when I was seven, dad was a farmer and mum only helps him in his farm...we have only the farm to live for. ... That fateful day, it started raining while they were in the farm...they waited for it to stop but it didn't, till the night.
I waited at our small house for my parents to come but no sign of them, it's raining heavily and I cried while waiting for them, not knowing I'm not going to see them anymore.
Maybe they thought of me as the only one at home, they entered the rain and started trekking home but unfortunately, they both got hit by a truck, they died on the spot
I can still remember how the rain water was flushing their blood on the road that night
I lived in an orphanage since then and rainy nights has been the scariest thing on Earth to me, I get sick badly anytime it rains at night cos it brings back a rush of the scary memory...you might want to ask how I went to school, well it's the orphanage owner, she sent all the kids in the orphanage then to school, but Immediately after I finished my university education last year, she passed away,
I left the orphanage and met Janet, she has really helped a lot" she said
Richard concealed his tears as she narrated her story it was really touching
"But it seems it'll really rain tonight, I'm afraid" she said, looking at the dark sky
" I'm sorry" he said
"No boss, it's ok....I'm...
That was interrupted with a rain drop on her face
"Let's get back to the car, seems like it'll really rain" he said,
He took her hand and they hurried into the car as the rain kept pouring.
Even before they got to the car, she has started shivering like a drenched kitten
They got to the car and it started raining immediately
Her phone rang, it's Janet
Richard stared at her phone
It's out of the world, the screen is.. crashed already
She had to pickup before recognizing the caller with the voice
He couldn't conceal his tears anymore, he rubbed his eyes with his fingers and wiped it as it fell so she won't notice
"Hey Ruby, are you ok? Where are you?, What do I do, it's raining" Janet's voice said
" I'm.. still with.... boss, and I'm... I'm fine" she replied with a shaky voice
"Ruby you're shivering" Janet said worriedly
"I'll be ... fine, just don't ... worry" she replied and her phone went dead immediately, maybe it ran out of battery...
"I....I...I'm... feeling cold" she said, shaking badly already, she rested her head on the seat and despite the fact that it's raining heavily outside, she's sweating and shaking at the same time
He removed his jacket and then his shirt, leaving him shirtless
He wore the shirt for her first before wearing the jacket for her too
"Headache too, I'm... feeling headache and it's painful" she said weakly, the manner at which she shivered will make anyone believe she entered the rain
Richard ran out of ideas on what to do.
Pharmacies would have closed by now, he'd have ran out in the rain to get her drugs
He brought out his hanker chief from his pocket and opened the car window slowly
He brought it out and the rainwater soaked it, then he placed it on her forehead but she unconsciously fell from her seat
He caught her, making her head land on his chest
Her temperature is too hot
"Ruby" he called gently but no response
She's still breathing though
He hugged her tightly with her head on his bare chest, trying to share his body warmth with her
"Boss" she called slowly
"Don't say a word Ruby just embrace me and let's share my body warmth" he said, hugging her closely.
Ruby's hands went behind his back carefully embracing him like he wanted.
With her head resting on his chest and his body heat mixing with her cold, she feels safe and better
She soon slept off in his arms but Richard continued staring at her, stroking her hair as she slept
"I wish I could be with you every rainy night like this" he said carefully, still pulling her closer
He soon drifted off to sleep at midnight
In the Morning
Ruby yawned softly and tried stretching herself but wasn't possible, like someone was holding her. She opened her eyes immediately and raised her head up, looking at a manly chest till she finally sighted his face
"Boss" she called, recalling all that happened last night
"What do i do?" She asked, staring at his sleeping face
She swallowed nothing in particular as she kept admiring
his beautiful face and that only made him appear more handsome.
She found her eyes moving to his lips, small and kissable
Her heart Started pounding in her ribcage as she stared
"You've started again" she thought, referring to her beating heart
She raised her hand to his face and placed it on his cheek
"I don't know why, but perhaps because you were here, of all the rainy nights I've ever had in anguish, last night was the best" she muttered beaming widely.
Suddenly she felt her throat running dry as her eyes fell on his bare chest It's cute! then she looked at his lips again and felt her thumb moving towards it
She touched his lower lip and that woke him up
Her heart beats became more irregular as their eyes met with her thumb still on his lip
None of them broke the stare till Ruby did
She quickly moved her hand away from his lip and had the opportunity to leave his arms, he let her go and she sat beside him, face down, picking on her nails
"How are you feeling now?" He asked
"I'm alright" she answered awkwardly
