Capítulo 112: Chapter 109

I traced back the texts to the day we had had that encounter at the store. He had texted Kyle literally three hours afterwards. The fucking nerve of him!

" Hey, hope you're okay. "

" I'm good, don't worry about it. "

I didn't get why Kyle was texting him back. Especially when he knew how I felt about that guy. I mean, I wasn't going to be a hypocrite about the whole thing, it's true I was jealous. Insanely so. And whenever it had to do with Kyle, my envy always had a life of it's own. It was the unhealthy and scary type, I could feel that sickening feeling as it turned my blood sour and filled my head with thoughts that made me want to seek out that person and use whichever means I could to make him understand things. In other words,my type of jealousy wavered along the psychotic lines. And before reading those texts, I had simply disliked that guy, but afterwards, I loathed him with burning passion.

" So that's your type? Never would have guessed, " one of the texts read.

What in the suicidal and arrogant hell was that supposed to be. What type was he referring to? And did that question mean that I was wrong for Kyle? And if I was.....was he the one that was right for him? I wanted to find him and stamp my fist on his face, strangle for him and possibly leave him breathless. And I wasn't joking either. It had been a while since I felt those types of feelings with that sort of intensity and that only confirmed how much he was messing with my mentality. Kyle had defended me, as expected, saying I wasn't actually like that. But he seemed to have gotten it in his head that I wasn't good enough for Kyle and I could clearly see how he was indirectly trying to make Kyle see that. And Kyle was just too polite to do anything but repeatedly assure him I was better once you got to know me. I was in a fairly okay mood, so all I did was delete the chats and then I deleted his number.

I also looked him up on his socials, found out they had been in contact there once or twice and I blocked him from every platform I could find... nothing too major. I then tucked the phone back into his pocket and went about my business talking with Miles. He told me the actual race was going to start at noon but he had wanted us to get there earlier so I could train a bit. I thought it was a sensible decision, I was pretty confident in myself and my abilities but I also had to keep in mind the fact that the location was both foreign and steep, not to mention how rough that path was gonna be. I mean, it was literally called Rocky Mountains. Kyle woke up halfway there, and he made me recall how grumpy he could be when he was sleepy by complaining about how thirsty he was, and when Miles offered him his water bottle he shook his head, then he turned to me with eyes half open and told me he wanted something sweet.

" Like what?"

" I don't know, just something sweet, I want a ton of sugar!"

I wasn't surprised about that, Kyle wasn't a fan of water, claimed it was too.... tasteless. And he tended to supplement it with other drinks often.

" Okay, relax. Miles, could you pull over at the first store you see?"

" Sure thing,"

Kyle rubbed his eyes, then he took off his hoody and with lazy movements, folded it into what I assumed was a pillow, then he placed it on my lap and less than a minute later he was back to his deep sleeping state. I couldn't understand why he had taken the hoody off, he was basically freezing. And because I carried more about him than I did about myself, I took off my jacket and covered him with it. Miles was lucky enough to find a store, he parked and glanced back at me, I managed to get Kyle to wake up, and when I did, so did he.

" I should just get you a bottle of honey for you to chug down, " I lightly commented as I unlocked the door and stepped out.

" I want apple juice, preferably refrigerated, " he instructed and I told him I was on it. I was relieved on finding only two bottles of the juice he wanted left, and I grabbed both so he could still have one left for later. I also bought some snacks, all his favourites, we would be there till after noon and I didn't want him to stay hungry for my sake. When I went back to the car, he seemed better, not as drowsy as before. He took the bottle from me, opened it up and gulped like half of it down. He must have really been thirsty.

" Here...you good now or is there something else you want?" I asked as I handed him the snacks. He took them, peeked inside the bag and placed it aside, withholding his smile.

" That it? Can we go now?" Miles asked and I told him to go ahead and drive.

" I'm never dating in my life!" I heard him mutter in a very low voice. Coming from him that wasn't at all surprising.

" Put it on, " Kyle said as he handed me the jacket back to me. But first I made sure he wore his hoody before I did as asked. We got there like ten minutes after nine, and the place was just as remote as I had expected it to be. There were no people in sight, but at least the weather was warm. We took the bike off the back of the truck, and before I started riding we decided to walk around to get a feel of the place. Kyle was silent throughout the walk. He was just scrolling through his phone.

" There are so many damn tyre tracks here. I'm betting they belong to the tiring twins, "Miles commented. By ' Tiring twins ' he meant Dave and his best friend Jay. Miles disliked that duo almost as much as  he liked making cash. His observation was however correct, there were bike marks all over the place which meant that most of the other competitors had been practicing hard. Because it couldn't only be those two. Kyle was keeping pace beside me and I reached out and held his hand. He stopped, forcing me to do the same, Miles walked on a few steps.

" This is crazy! " He exclaimed, looking around the place with noticeable dislike. I had been expecting that exact reaction from him. He had freaked out the last time and that was a nicely tarmacked road, so it was only natural for him to react in such a negative way.

" I brought safety equipment this time, "

He shook his head.

" One tiny mistake and you could end up paralysed!"

" Kyle, I love you but can we not get into this again?"

" Fine! Go ride up your fucking mountain...with the sharp, pointy rocks sticking out and the possibility of an emergency room in one of you guys' future. "

Whoa,he was seriously not happy about that place and he wasn't trying to hide it. I knew it when there was no convincing him of something, and he had already made up his mind about that place so all I had to do was try to forget about all that and focus on why I was there. He did however hold my hand and talk to me about other things. Because he didn't want me to think he was acting like that because he didn't care. It was actually the opposite. his reaction was strictly because he cared and was always worried about me. And those were the aspects of him that I would forever be in love with.We walked back down, it was still pretty early so I wasn't worried about time. Miles made a few phonecalls, then he walked over to us and rubbed his hands together, asking me whether I was ready. I told him I was, but I wanted some time before I officially began. Kyle and I went back to the parked truck and got into the backseat, right where we had been. Miles joked around by asking us to spare his seats.

The second I shut the door, I turned and found Kyle staring at me with the most unreadable look. I asked him what was wrong but instead of replying, he simply reached into his pocket and took out his phone, then he took my hand and placed it on my palm.

" Here,Incase you weren't satisfied before, " he told me. It was clear that I had been caught. I blankly stared at his phone, and when I didn't say anything for a while he arched a brow and asked me why I was so quiet.

" You really thought I wouldn't find out?"

" I hoped you would, "

It was the truth. I had been praying he realized what I had done so that he could know how serious I was about that issue.

Kyle told me that he had actually heard me the second I pulled out his phone, but he had decided to let me have my fun and do whatever I felt like. Even he had his limits when it came to handling my actions.

" But deleting entire conversations? Seriously Austin?"

He sounded disappointed, but I didn't regret a thing of what I had done.
