Capítulo 13: Old house

We sat there on the side of the road for a couple of minutes, the silence between us stretching out like a vast chasm. Suddenly, January burst into laughter, the sound startling me out of my thoughts. I didn't understand why he was laughing, but there was something contagious about it, and I slowly started to chuckle too. It felt good to laugh, to let some of the tension and uncertainty of the day melt away, even if just for a moment.

"You know," January said after some time, when he had gained control over his laughter, "we don't really get along in most situations. You think and act in a different way than I do, and you're mostly egoistic, viewing situations only from your perspective." He wiped tears of mirth from his eyes, his gaze meeting mine. "But sometimes, I feel like you're the best. You don't even think, you just go where your friends are, and you don't care about anything else."

I smiled, unsure of what to say in response. It was true that January and I had our differences, but in moments like these, I realized just how much I valued our friendship. Despite our contrasting approaches to life, we had a bond that ran deeper than mere compatibility.

January stood up, brushing dirt from his pants. "There's another place in today's plan, and we should go. It's just about time now."

I nodded, rising to my feet as well. Whatever lay ahead, I knew that I could face it with January by my side. We had already been through so much together, and I had a feeling that our journey was far from over.

As we walked down the main street, the number of drunk people had multiplied tenfold compared to when we first arrived. January and I strolled along until we stopped near a grand, luxurious house that, for a moment, made me think we had stumbled into a wealthy district. Yet, there was something warm and welcoming about this particular house that set it apart from the others.

"We've got rich people down here too," January smiled, noticing my surprise.

From inside the house, the sounds of music, dancing, and lively partying could be heard. January approached the door and knocked twice, then once, followed by four more knocks. The door swung open, revealing a large, muscular man with an intimidating look. However, his expression softened as soon as he saw January.

"Oh, dear January!" he exclaimed, his eyes filled with happiness. "Long time no see, since you know... Our tragedy."

But then his gaze shifted to me, and his eyes widened in shock. "You came back..."

Suddenly, the man stepped outside and reached out to me, causing a twinge of fear to run through my body. However, instead of any aggression, he enveloped me in a tight hug. The embrace was so powerful that I felt my bones cracking as he lifted me off the ground.

"Hey, hey, Alexander. Easy there," January intervened. "And not everything is as well as it seems. Let's talk inside, please."

Alexander gently set me back on the ground, and I noticed his eyes were glistening with unshed tears. A pang of guilt struck me as I realized I couldn't remember him, despite the clear emotional connection he felt towards me.

As we stepped inside, the grandeur of the house's interior took my breath away. The spacious hall was adorned with elegant furnishings and intricate decorations, a testament to the wealth and status of its occupants. A grand staircase descended from the second floor, its polished wooden steps gleaming in the soft light. Crystal chandeliers cast dancing shadows across marble floors, and priceless artwork adorned the walls. The music that had been muffled outside now filled the air, emanating from a room on the left side of the stairs, the melodic notes of a piano intertwining with animated conversation.

January guided Alexander and me to a quiet corner of the hall, partially concealed behind an ornate pillar, where he began to recount the details of my memory loss. As he spoke in his characteristically methodical way, I watched Alexander's expression shift from shock to disbelief, his muscular frame tensing with each revelation. His eyes darted between January and me, his impressive mustache twitching with barely contained emotion. The fact that January was sharing this information with Alexander was a clear sign that these people were trustworthy, and I felt a sense of relief wash over me, even as my heart ached at the pain I was clearly causing this man.

"And he doesn't remember miss?" Alexander asked, his voice tinged with fear, his large hands clenching and unclenching at his sides. The question seemed to carry more weight than I could comprehend.

January glanced at me before shaking his head, his typically stoic expression softening slightly. "He doesn't, Alexander."

A heavy silence fell upon the hall, the weight of the revelation hanging in the air like a physical presence. The distant music seemed to fade away, leaving only the thundering of my heart in my ears. I couldn't bear the tension any longer and found myself asking, "Who is this miss?" The words tumbled out before I could stop them, and I noticed Alexander flinch as if I'd struck him.

"Miss Ann Scarlet," Alexander said, and at that moment, a sharp pain shot through my head. The name reverberated through the hall like an announcement, and as if on cue, the door to the music room slammed open. A cheerful, sweet voice filled the air. "Alexander, is that Lena?"

I turned to see a stunning woman standing in the doorway. Her eyes, a vibrant shade of green, scanned the room, first landing on Alexander, then January, and finally, on me. As our gazes met, I felt the color drain from my face, and I could see the same happening to her. My heart sank as a flood of memories rushed through my mind, each one featuring this woman. Tender moments intertwined with hard times, beautiful experiences marred by ugly truths.

Ann didn't give me a chance to process the onslaught of emotions. She quickly approached me, her eyes brimming with tears. In a swift motion, she slapped me on the right cheek, then on the left. The stinging sensation barely registered as she took my face in her hands and pressed her lips against mine. The kiss was a whirlwind of emotions, a testament to the complex history we shared.

I closed my eyes, losing myself in the moment as we embraced each other tightly. When we finally parted and opened our eyes, we realized that we were alone in the hall. Alexander and January had discreetly slipped away, leaving us to navigate the tumultuous waters of our past and present.

As I looked into Ann's eyes, I saw a reflection of my own confusion and longing. The memories that had come rushing back were fragmented, like pieces of a puzzle that didn't quite fit together. I knew that this woman had played a significant role in my life, but the details remained hazy, just out of reach.

Ann took my hand, her slender fingers intertwining with mine as she led me up the grand staircase. The world around us seemed to fade away, the music and chatter from the party below becoming nothing more than a distant hum. In that moment, all that existed was the two of us, our shared history, and the undeniable connection that pulled us together.

We reached the top of the stairs, and Ann guided me down a dimly lit hallway, the plush carpet muffling our footsteps. She stopped in front of a large, ornate door, her hand resting on the golden handle. Our eyes met, and I could see the same desire and longing that I felt reflected in her gaze.

Without a word, she pushed the door open, revealing a luxurious bedroom. The room was bathed in soft candlelight, casting dancing shadows across the rich, velvety textures of the furnishings. A large, four-poster bed dominated the space, its dark wooden frame draped with sheer, billowing curtains.

As the door clicked shut behind us, Ann turned to face me, her hands reaching up to cup my face. Her touch was electric, sending shivers down my spine. She leaned in, her lips brushing against mine in a feather-light kiss that left me aching for more.

I wrapped my arms around her waist, pulling her closer as our lips met again, this time with a fierce intensity. The kiss deepened, our tongues dancing together in a passionate embrace. Ann's fingers tangled in my hair, tugging gently as she pressed her body against mine.

We stumbled towards the bed, our hands exploring each other's bodies with a desperate urgency. Clothing was shed, piece by piece, until there was nothing left between us but the heat of our skin. We fell onto the soft mattress, our limbs entangled, our hearts racing in unison.

In that moment, nothing else mattered. The questions, the confusion, the fragmented memories - all of it was pushed aside, replaced by the overwhelming desire to lose ourselves in each other. Ann's touch was like fire, igniting a passion within me that I hadn't even known existed.

We made love with a fervor that bordered on desperation, each caress, each kiss, each whispered word of affection a testament to the depth of our connection. Time seemed to stand still as we explored each other's bodies, discovering and rediscovering the places that brought us the most pleasure.
