Jake's POV
The precinct was bustling with activity. He had gotten a surprising amount of work done yesterday, though it had taken several hours to adjust to his new strength.
Just trying to have breakfast had resulted in him bending several spoons and shattering one bowl.
The adjustment hadn't taken long, though, and he was confident he could make it through today without smashing anything too vital.
The physical distance from Ripley was excruciating, though. He hadn't expected that little side effect, and it was making him miserable.
"Cheer up, you're bumming me out."
Jake searched for the source of the voice, heart nearly leaping out of his chest. It was Ripley, he was sure of it, but she was nowhere to be found.
"Not there, silly, in here," she giggled.
Jake looked around for a moment longer before remembering he had told her about mindspeaking.
She was mindspeaking.
"Can you hear me?" He tried to think loudly, not sure how the process worked.
