Ripley's POV

After the incident in the kitchen, Jake had gently suggested Ripley start trying to take some control of her power. He did his best to walk her through how he had learned to use his abilities, but that only got them so far.

He had called off work that Wednesday, staying to tutor her for a while. They ended up mostly just lounging around and filling each other in on the nitty gritty details of their lives they had left out earlier.

However, they couldn't maintain life like that, no matter how badly Ripley wanted them to. Jake had to go back to work, and Ripley genuinely needed to get some control over her power.

Jake had offered to take Ripley to meet with his father, who had a lot more knowledge on the matter.

Ripley had debated for nearly a full day, unsure of whether or not she wanted to commit to meeting his family. She felt intimidated by the thought.
