Capítulo 50: Change Of Plans

In the deep of the night, I relish the silence that the Dragon Pavilion gives me. After my stunt, and showing of gold, they kindly offer me a whole pavilion in which I can rest.

Lu Gao and Yin Shu are resting now in one of the pavilion's richest rooms.

Meanwhile, the fate of the Sun's Scripture sect master and the two demonic cultivators is now in the hands of what remains of their sect. I am not so bloodthirsty as to end a man's life so easily. In the confrontation back in the Inn, I manage to snag the hostages and while at it, deal severe injuries to the now former sect master.

After interrogating the former sect master, I then leave him to the disciples. Now, I don't know what the fate of that man is. I know that it wouldn't be nice, but it is disappointing. Why is no one meeting me now? I specifically ask that the highest person in charge next come to talk to me tonight, and now it is the darkest of midnight.

I am literally pulling an all-nighter now just for this person. Do they think I am some sort of immortal who doesn't need sleep anymore? Damn, they do! But I am not.

Suddenly, I hear the creaking of the bamboo sliding, and still kowtowing to me, a man crawling allows himself a little bit inside my resting place. I recognize the man with his white sideburns and the relative aging as I can observe from the wrinkles near his eyes. This was the elder who was first to get out of the inn when the 'humiliation' of his sect master becomes more humiliating to the point of no return.

The people of the cultivation world are very pragmatic people. Assuming that I am an 11th-stage cultivator, they'd know very well not to involve themselves with me. That is how fearsome the 11th stage is across the world.

Even now, the 11th stages roam the world. I am as certain of this as old Fu Shi's memories provide, his many encounters with the 11th stages are so frequent I am finding it fascinating. In fact, there is actually a civilization in heaven that only the 11th stage can enter.

I only gaze at the elder who is remaining very low in my presence. He speaks of reason and begs me to forgive him. "Apologies to the Lord Immortal, it wasn't my sect's intention to disrespect you. I've come to offer you our sect's allegiance and gratitude for apprehending a demonic cultivator in my sect's midst. On my return, we conducted a purge that still continues at this very moment. If it has caused you fury, please don't punish my sect. if you deem our sect needs punishment, I hope that I alone would prove enough to calm your rage."

This person knows how to speak! I muse about the chaos happening in his sect. Looks like it was the right move to give that foolish Bones Devouring Sect spy to him.

"I am not angry. In fact, I was happy knowing that your sect was able to see the rot through my enlightenment. I imagined you'd be troubled and stubborn, and thus refuse my claims… But as I have proven… There really are demonic cultivators in your sect's midst. And I have reasons to believe it is just not your sect alone. I won't punish you, however, you shall accept my righteous words!"

The elder who is kowtowing slightly looks at me, his eyes trembling in surprise at my generosity. I proceed with my words adding my Telekinesis as special effects to make my beard, robe, and hair flutter.

"From now on, you shall accept the system as your own! You shall become a new man as these tenets will provide you with a path of Dao! Become my player!"

Immediately, the old man answers, though in his heart, he is feeling confused as from how it sounds, it seems more like a reward instead of a punishment.

"I shall accept!" He reverently says with conviction in his eyes.

I usher my quintessence and it envelops him. The initial process of 'player-ification' is happening in front of my eyes. But suddenly, it stops… The man didn't accept the system… No… More accurately, the system isn't accepting the elder.

I repeat the moving of quintessence again, yet it fails me. Using my raw quintessence, I empower my Mind's Eye. Then comes the surprise…. There is already a quintessence of nature different from mine hovering over the elder.

This is my first time empowering my Mind's Eye with quintessence to such a degree that I am losing 10 quintessence every second. I stop fueling my Mind's Eye with quintessence.

"Interesting…" I whisper to myself as new theories pop up in my head. "You can go now, and be reminded that I am always watching…" I tell the elder to go, and mark him with my Mind's Eye ensuring that I will be able to see what he is doing immediately at my wish.

I find this elder useful, and so, I will use him.

"Before you go… What is your name?"

The elder didn't even make it far as he was about to stand up and go. I realize he might not be that old. I see these traces of youth in him. Referring to Old Fu Shi's memories, I realize that this is the sign of someone who has lost their life force to a demonic cultivator.

"My name is Ao Yong." The elder respectfully tells me his name.

"I should reward you," I tell him and immediately dives on spending tens of thousands of quintessence to reverse his age and turn it back a hundred years. I find it very weird that it only takes me 1 quintessence to reverse my age a year, and for others, it would take enormous amounts!

I am 813 years old. If I want to, I can just spam Age Reversal and return to my youth. And here I am, busting my wallet for another person.

I look at Ao Yong who might not be past 300. "How old are you?" I offhandedly ask him.

Ao Yong with his eyes wide, trembles in joy as he feels vitality surging within him with force. "I… I am only 72 years old…"

He is only 72 years old, and he looks that old. Not to mention the cultivation strength worth the 4th stage in him? This is baffling.

"Go now, I don't need to hear your story," I tell him, and at that moment, he now looks like a 72-year-old who is in the 4th stage of cultivation— to be specific, the looks of a handsome middle-aged man.

"I am forever in your—"

I don't want to hear it so I close the sliding door with my telekinesis.

My mind goes into deep contemplating mode. After Ao Yong's treatment, I again use an empowered Mind's Eye at him, and the quintessence surrounding him remains unchanged. This system and quintessence are very mysterious. Only now did I learn that there is also a quintessence of different natures.

I sneak at the sleeping Lu Gao and Yin Shu. Through my Mind's Eye, it seems that they too have quintessence around them, but I can almost taste it, I can recognize it… It was my quintessence.

I am the master of this mysterious system and quintessence, yet I don't fully know what they truly are… It is like inventing something yet not knowing its full potential. I recall my vague past life once more. Did the inventor of carbonated drinks imagine that his creation would be that big? Would the person who invented the first computer imagine it would develop its tech that far? Did the Creator know that his creations are capable of something he didn't imagine even possible?

I was only hoping to create something to replace my cultivation, and with it, build my MMORPG, but I have instead… this system… I wonder… Just who or what is responsible for creating quintessence? The very thing my system fuels its function with?

"Sigh…"

I had plans after uprooting the Bones Devouring Sects.

After that…

I want to rule all of the sects of the Biron Kingdom, and integrate them with my player community, but with how the current things are… I'd have to change my plans…
