Capítulo 88: ITS THERE!

"MY MUSCLES ARE GONE!" With his heaven-shaking scream, a dark premonition clouded Jianyu's mind.

Slowly and hesitantly, his trembling hand moved towards his lower half, patting upon his precious scepter and family jewels. Only after confirming their presence did Jianyu take a breath in relief.

"The family's future is safe." With a thumbs up and his now-usual smile, he reassured Xin Dongyang.

Who in turn felt a phantom headache pass through. "That's not what I was worried about."

Jianyu simply tilted his head in confusion.

"I am wondering about that smile of yours," pointing towards his grandson, Dongyang's brows furrowed even further.

"Ah, this..." covering his face with his hand, Jianyu tried to mold his smile in an attempt to change his expression. "A side effect of half-step ascension perhaps? After all, it's a rather unstable process against the usual rules, heavily influenced by one's wishes."

It wasn't that Xin Dongyang couldn't understand such a thing, but he felt like something was amiss. But a wish to don a smile forever... That in itself was a sad wish, wasn't it? So, he decided to remain silent for now.

As silence reigned with Jianyu trying to change his expression repeatedly with no success and Xin Dongyang remaining quiet, Xin Dongyang remembered something.

"Before you leave for the other realm, you should meet your mother and friends."

"Friends?" Jianyu frowned with displeasure enveloping his words. "Does that include that Xiao Xiang?"

Xin Dongyang's eyes widened slightly. This was definitely a strange development. "No... that girl has yet to gain consciousness after the events from three days ago."

"It would be nice if she just keeps on being like that." Some rather dark words exited Jianyu's mouth quite naturally.

"Did something happen between you and her?" It was a rather shocking event, but not a bad one to Xin Dongyang. After all, while having that Yin bitch's disciple wrapped around his grandson's fingers was a fun idea to humor, he felt that the girl was rather odd and did not want his family to get involved with her if possible.

"Well, first of all, I almost died because of her!" Jianyu's anger was somewhat apparent even through his smile. "And she's that fucker's daughter! Can you believe it?! Even now not letting me live in peace!"

Listening to the non-stop aggressive rant from his grandson was yet another surprise to Xin Dongyang. But even then, he did not miss a certain detail.

"....Her father?" Dongyang felt rather shocked by this revelation. He couldn't understand how Xiao Xiang's father managed it, but he had somehow escaped his and that Yin family witch's information net? No... that's unlikely unless...

"I don't mean that guy. Let's see..." massaging his temples, Xin Jianyu paused in an attempt to calm himself. "I am talking about another guy, a manipulative bastard!" He failed to calm himself.

"There used to be this fox-like snake bastard titled Dao Sage back in my past life. That bastard single-handedly made me one of the most miserable beings back in the days and had the gall to speak nonsense justifying his actions. 'It's for the greater good,' he said, ready to ruin others' lives yet too cowardly to take the blame! The bastard's probably still alive, fucking insect-like bastard hanging onto life while hiding and using others as shields!"

"Umm, wait a minute!" Having enough of the one-sided conversation, Dongyang finally interrupted. "How exactly is Xiao Xiang the daughter of this 'Dao Sage'? Also, why are you so sure of this?"

"Ah, yes... I forgot to explain that... Well, the Dao Sage had once used his Dao to create an offspring of his own with a 'special ability.' An ability that copied his own or perhaps even surpassed it. Of course, most of the information regarding that guy was unreliable, to say the least, but he was definitely a monstrous bastard... I believe he took around a millennia to reach the Dao without inheritance or guidance."

Upon hearing this, Xin Dongyang felt quite shocked. After all, this was a feat that he himself could not imagine... Although it was still not something he'd straight up deny since he did have knowledge of someone similar, or rather, two such people... one of them even sat in front of him...

Meanwhile, Jianyu simply continued, "As for how I'm so sure that she is that rat's daughter? Well, do you not find it weird how her ability keeps on improving, evolving? It's simply unnatural. Moreover, I can tell... after all, I've had the displeasure of knowing her even before. Of course, I am not sure why exactly she's a mortal right now... Well, I can guess the reason why... But, surely it's not anything good!"

"Sighing tiredly, Dongyang felt like his grandson was being a bit too open with him. "I am not sure about your history with Xiao Xiang and this Dao sage, but I do believe that the girl truly does like you..."

"So what?! Many people want to get in my bed. I'm just that breathtaking. Does that mean I have to sleep with half the sect?"

Shameless, utterly shameless! His grandson had grown too shameless... What made it even worse was the fact that Dongyang's younger self resembled him quite a bit.

Jianyu's smile deepened as his eyes began to glow ominously, "The only kind of love I can reciprocate for that woman is the one where one devours the other person whole."

"..." While it might seem like a passing sarcastic comment to others, to Xin Dongyang this comment did not seem so.

"In a way, isn't that a great display of love, surely you would agree~"

And that was the confirmation Dongyang needed, "How much do you know?" This was something related to the very founder of the Xin family and a secret unkown to all but the head of the family.

"Just a bit~" Glowing violet eyes, a wide creepy smile and an unnerving aura...

"...Just don't act like this in front of your mother." Another source of worry for Dongyang...

"Of course, I won't. You're worrying a bit too much," he shrugged alongside this carefree remark causing nothing but worry to Dongyang.

"And you should be worrying a bit more!" Somehow, the current situation was more stressful than when his grandson suffered from an inner devil... 'Well, as long as my wife doesn't find out about this... and the fact that I'm half at fault for this personality change...'

Xin Dongyang had committed an act of betrayal towards the sect and his main body, he was partially caused the derailment of the sect's plans. He could've prevented part of this by resisting that "guidance".

But, in the end, the recent decisions of his while somewhat questionable were not something he regretted, if he can secure the happiness of his family with such a small price it was worth it.

Moreover, neither the sect nor his main body were able to find out about this so, there wasn't much to regret about... except for his grandson's situation.

'Well, as long as he behaves well enough in front of my daughter...'

...

Xin Dongyang's worries turned out to be mostly unfounded as the meeting between the son and mother pair was quite harmonious.

With Xin Yingyue hugging Jianyu in a tight embrace and Jianyu telling her that he's completely fine over and over... Well, that was understandable since from a shallow glance, Jianyu's current situation looked quite precarious.

And finally there was 'that' thing...

"Um..." Jianyu began with a smile and slight hesitance. "I am sure you already know of it, but I have some memories from my past life... I am sorry for not telling you about this earlier."

What followed this was a series of self-blame and stuff... Xin Dongyang made sure to not interrupt this till his daughter has had her fill.

Perhaps it was because of Jianyu's shrunken size, but Yingyue was much more affectionate towards her son, keeping him in a tight embrace for hours...

And finally when she prepared to leave, she left behind the words, "Well, I'll let you meet your friends and 'Xifeng' now."

For the most part, Yingyue was left in the dark about the growing tension between Jianyu and Xifeng. Since her visits to the sect were far and few between, and Jianyu had attempted his best to not let her worry.

Of course, it's not that she didn't have an inkling but with the whole inner devil situation, she believed everything to be caused by that.

...

After that was Cao Meihui's turn, where Jianyu had a little "talk" with her regarding this and that...

Finally, Xin Dongyang let Mo Suyin and Xin Guang meet Jianyu. Of course, he didn't meet them directly as he was the patriarch of the esteemed Xin family, escorting juniors like them... wasn't something he ought to do.

Xin Guang entered the spatial gate to meet Jianyu with Mo Suyin, as the surroundings on the other side of the gate became clearer, he felt his intuition flare up as he panicingly attempted to block whatever was coming towards him.

"TAKE THIS, YOU BASTARD!"

With that declaration, a sword flew at him with the intent to kill. The force behind the attack was immense and it was just as swift yet the attack lacked any true substance, no Qi nor any intent.

Thanks to that Xin Guang was able to stop the blade from piercing his chest using multiple flame barrier spells as well some other spells.

Looking at his assailant, Xin Guang roared with fury, "What are you doing?!"

To which...

"Tsk, I missed!"

Jianyu smiled welcomingly.

Capítulo 89: Xin Jianyu of Guidance

Looking at his assailant, Xin Guang roared with fury, "What are you doing?!"

To which...

"Tsk, I missed!"

Jianyu smiled welcomingly.

"What do you mean by 'missed'?" Xin Guang asked in annoyance.

To which Jianyu muttered under his breath, "If I could use intent, it wouldn't have missed."

"Do you want to kill me?!" Xin Gaung asked in slight fear and anger.

"Just an arm~" Jianyu shrugged jokingly.

"It was aimed at my chest!" Pointing to his chest, he yelled in frustration.

"Hmph! Shouldn't have gone behind your senior brother's back, fooling around with his precious junior sister." Jianyu crossed his arms as he snorted.

"I-I wasn't messing around..." Xin Guang stuttered a clear fucking admission of guilt.

With a widening smile, Jianyu asked, "So you love her?"

"L-love?!" Xin guang's face reddened as his voice got louder.

"Oh, so you are playing with my junior sister's heart, how dare you?!"

"N-no, it's just that..." With lowered head, Xin Guang continued with somewhat lowered volume.

"Speak up clearly or else... Do not approach Meihui ever."

"..." He fell silent, he did not know what to say... On one hand he did not want his relationship with Cao Meihui to cease, but on the other hand... It was embarrassing

"I do not care for a spineless fool, especially one who can't even speak the truth of his own hear!" Jianyu's voice was cold, much in contradiction with his smile, but, Xin Guang who had lowered his head couldn't see it.

"I... I like her...!" Xin Guang's voice was so loud that if, he had spoken this back at the sect then even the people from the other peaks would've heard his confession of love.

"Ho~ So you plan on marrying her?" Jianyu continued.

"M-marry?!"

"So you just wanna fool around?!"

"N-no, but..."

"He~"

"Huh? Y-you!!" Finally realizing it, Xin Guang raised his head, only to see a Jianyu with a wide smile and Mo Suyin who seemed to be having issues in controlling her laughter... Moreover, the mocking look on Jianyu's face was apparant.

"Hahaha! 'M-marry?!' he says!" Jianyu pointed as he laughed heartily at Xin Guang's youthful declarations.

"Stop it!" XIn Guang stepped forward to seal off Jianyu's mouth,

However, Jianyu just dodged him effortlessly, "Don't wanna~"

"...!"

"..." A stare off began between the two, which was soon interrupted.

"Pfft...! Haha... I'm sorry... haha..." Finally, unable to hold back anymore, Mo Suyin laughed aloud

"See, even she finds it funny~" Jianyu further teased adding fuel to fire.

"..."

...

"Haa..." Sighing in annoyance after having to deal with all that, Xin Guang asked, "So... what happened to you?" His brows were furrowed in blatant scrutiny.

Jianyu's gaze wandered in a whimsical manner, 'more than me... Even Mo Suyin... W-well she's someone physically strong. so...' His smile widened in a twisted manner as he lamented the loss of his oh-so-dear muscles while comparing himself with others... "Nothing much."

"... That does not look like nothing much." Xin Guang's frown deepened.

"Ah, this..." As tiresome as it was to explain his newly found sore spot, the loss of his muscles for the third time today... Jianyu decided to be somewhat gracious, "Well, ascension does cause changes to one's existence, this is even more so truer for half-step ascension which is far more unstable and unpredictable."

"Moreover, my body was utterly destroyed..." Despite the rather unpleasant sounding topic, Jianyu's voice was as casual as if he was talking about the cute mischiefs of his pet cat. Yet, despite that his voice trailed off as he noticed something.

"..." In front of him, at the opposite side of the table, Mo Suyin had silently clenched her fists...

"Well, anyway, that's the reason why my form has changed so much."

"Huh... I was talking about that creepy smile." Rather bluntly, Xin Guang asked while also rudely pointing to Jianyu's face...

"This again?" His smile remained persistent, but Jianyu's smile definitely did falter or rather... changed a bit? "It's a side-effect, no need to worry about it."

At this point, Xin Guang recalled something... "Side effect? Wait... Didn't you mention something about 'If I could use intent'? Don't tell me..."

"Oh yeah, lost that too~" Bringing his hand forward while stretching out his index finger, Jianyu formed a small wisp of flame, "I can't really use my Qi properly either, nor can I form spells... My body feels wobbly as well."

Almost as soon as it appeared, the small wisp flickered and began to transform haphazardly, turning to earthen yellow, sharp white, soothing wavy blue, and green till it exploded into smoke, a part of which was absorbed back into Jianyu's body.

"What?!" Xin Guang exclaimed, it was shocking to say the least. Not being able to utilize Qi was something unthinkable for a cultivator...

Mo Suyin lowered her head with a bitter expression, an action that didn't go unnoticed by Jianyu.

"It's not that bad, you know?" Jianyu's demeanor was calm with an unceasing smile, "Half-step ascension is quite unstable, driven by one's desires unlike the usual immortal ascension, a transformation governed by Dao's rules, an irrefutable mark of one's 'path'."

These words left Xin Guang and Mo Suyin speechless. Somehow they could tell that this was not something meant to be known by someone as young as Jianyu.

"It's quite fortunate that I didn't become a mindless chaos-dwelling critter or a fool who lost his own self..."

The words, while in a light tone, weighed heavily on the other two, this was especially true for Mo Suyin who blamed herself for the current situation. Amidst the silence, Jianyu got up from his seat and unhurriedly walked towards the other side of the table where Mo Suyin and Xin Guang sat. Standing behind their backs, he stared at the two lovely and endearing fools of his and reached out for them.

"...I am almost, pretty much, completely fine! So, no need to be too worried, alright?"

He petted both of their heads, gently caressing their hair while displaying a heartwarming smile. Causing the both of them to turn towards him. However, by then Jianyu had already turned away with his back now facing them.

"Now then go back now, I've left some 'gifts' for you two make sure to use them well~"

...

...

"Interesting, isn't it?"

"Mm," Xin Dongyang nodded in acknowledgment as he recalled the changes in the two who had just left, "Indeed, quite an interesting change... You seem to know something about it, don't you?"

"Not really~ And I'm not hiding or lying about this," Jianyu shrugged.

Dongyang didn't care much either and instead moved on to the next matter at hand, "Will you be meeting with Xifeng now?"

"Yes, I guess I will."

"Well, that's good," Xin Dongyang smiled slightly. It wasn't too bad to have Yin Xifeng as his granddaughter-in-law. But his smile was soon to go away as...

"I'll be breaking this annoying engagement of ours, today,"

...Jianyu robbed him of this small joy.

"...Why?"

"At this point, why shouldn't I?" Simple words, yet the meaning was far more vast than what was said.

...

...

"So..." Staring at his grandson who quietly sipped his tea while not saying anything, Xin Dongyang asked, "What happened?"

"Her fearful expression, the scent of despair emanating from her in response to my every single action! It was all just too adorable!" Pumping his fist, Jianyu spoke with much excitement, to which Xin Dongyang looked over him with much apprehension.

"...Anyways, I decided against breaking off the engagement because of that. After all, not much of a point in breaking the engagement. It's not as if she's the sole individual to blame for everything." Jianyu simply shrugged his shoulders and Xin Dongyang stared at him in scrutiny.

"That's quite the difference from what you said earlier."

"Well, always great to have someone who knows the future by my side! Also... She seems like she'd do anything I ask of her..." His smile widened as his mind thought of certain thoughts.

"Haa..." Xin Dongyang sighed tiredly. Even though the current chaotic nature of his grandson's soul and body made it difficult to perceive the falsehoods of his words, as his grandfather, Xin Dongyang could tell that he was lying. "So, when will you be ready to leave?"

"Just let me finish my tea~" His voice was cheery yet, he felt quite complicated inside... He just couldn't reject her... That familiar face that reminded him of the memories of that distant meeting amidst the winter snow...

'She resembles her...but...' Even if that familiarity did not exist, Jianyu could not reject the fact that he had come to adore that fool.

Even if his idea of love had grown warped... Even if he was no longer a human, He could just not reject those tear-welled eyes.

He truly adored Yin Xifeng.

And with that the chains bound his neck. Binding him to that distant finality.

Far, far away, in between the chaos seas and the grand nothingness, the void's boundaries,

At the time that was not the present but a close-by past, two entities looked over certain events in the chaos sea with rather odd amusement.

In front of the two was a fissure in reality. Within the fissure, the events of the hidden realm and the battle between a certain inner devil and two meager weaklings took place.

Even though the void lacked a true flow of time and the chaos seas' flow of time differed yet, at the boundary between two such extremities, the flow of time flowed in sync with the whims of the two beings, and all of it was caused by the being loftily sitting upon a throne.

||What are your thoughts on this?|| Looking to his side, the lofty being asked the other entity who stood by his side as they observed a boy face his inner devil.

|A waste of time,| the other one's words were simple and boring, unamusing to the lofty being. |If he struggles to even defeat such a simple shadow of the past, I hardly believe him to hold any value.|

||Is that so...|| The being shook his head in disappointment. ||It seems your viewpoint is still far too narrow-minded.||

|...How so?| While not exactly happy with such statements, he knew that the being who sat upon the throne was not one to say pointless things and thus, he asked.

||Before you met me, this chaos sea possessed many alternate, parallel flows of the river of time, did it not?||

|...|

||Yet, when I first arrived here, this chaos sea was already in a state of temporal singularity with no alternate timelines. Yet, the world acts in a manner imitating a chaos sea with alternate timelines... No such thing as regression had been sensed by us, yet, there are so many menial beings who, for some reason, had such memories... Odd, isn't it?||

|And what does it have to do with anything?|

||A certain being had guided me here back then. Of course, it couldn't have forced me, but due to certain reasons, I decided to humor it, and that's how I arrived at this collapsing existence. The Chaos Sea had already regressed and turned into a temporal singularity by the time I had arrived. A Chaos sea that had regressed yet acted out in a similar way comparative to the past flow of time, to reach a similar conclusion as before, as if in accordance with someone else's plans. As for who the culprit for these plans is...|| His gaze returned to the fissure, upon the boy or rather the creature that had begun to perish struggled...

|You mean...|

||Xin Jianyu of Guidance. He'll be what you'll consider as someone beyond the third grand step of cultivation.|| The being reached out for the empty space with his dull red eyes set ablaze; however, as he touched the empty space, his fingers traced a certain something, and an ethereal branched structure slowly began to reveal itself. ||The fourth step is quite similar to the third one, actually. But you know what's the difference between them? The third step is one where you attempt to comprehend what you call the grand Dao and forge your Dao through it. But in the fourth step, you recreate the grand Dao in your own image without any assistance!||

As the branched structure illuminated to reveal the humongous path once trailed by the guidance, the other being lowered his head, as simply looking at it burdened his existence.

The dull red-eyed being, however, paid no heed to that and instead weaved a small thread of mystical mist from the vestiges of the guidance and sent it to the "dying" young man beyond the fissure.

Even though the young soul would have survived this ordeal, the red-eyed being decided to help him out. After all, he was one to pay back favors, and with this, he owed the guidance that brought him closer to his "goal" nothing.

||Well then, take this,|| the branched structure, the vestiges of the path of guidance, shrunk into a small branch that could easily fit in one's hand, ||Here's a gift for you, 'little Tiandi!'||

...

...

...

||Guidance... Quite the foolish path. Nothing special, not much in strength, nothing exceptional at all. But a selfless path guiding all of creation.|| He spoke to himself in his lonesome, a habit he kept from his younger self.

||In a way, a path that could be easier to trail... But even then...|| An unceasing illumination blazed around him, a branched structure far too grand, a path that kept on splitting, crossing itself, ending up in dead end over and over and retracing it's path to create a new path... This was the path of the Guidance, Xin Jianyu.

||Even then, it wouldn't explain the "length" of this infantile path.||reaching out for the grandiose path, he simply reached out, ||Who am I kidding, I already know the answer to such questions all too well|| The immense path was now held within his palm.

||Little Tiandi won't be needing any more of this... He should be able to reach the next step soon... Moreover, I still have to continue my work... Perhaps I should make a tower with this! Been so long since I did any such thing~ However before that...|| His smile deepened as the dull red eyes moved to meet the others,

...

The echoes of these events could be heard throughout the distant chaos seas and void, the Architect of ruin's path had gained a scion... The path of that crazed maniac who had slaughtered countless to fulfill his own dreams had gained a successor... Yet none could do anything as none could find the scion's whereabouts.

Till now even though, it was crumbling, the Architect of ruin's path, the path of Dream forge had never gained a successor for that went against it's ideal dream.

||Finally! The Dream forge will have a true successor, not a false one like that thief!||

The crumbling path, the shattered dream, had begun to dream under the distant Guidance and it's promise.

...

A similar event happened for yet another master-less path, however, most did not know about any of this except for the countless beings that knelt before that path.

They were beings that had forged their own path separated from the "origin". Yet, despite that they had dedicated their everything to this master-less path, that ultimate finality, that shadow that engulfs all sooner or later... And were overjoyed to see their dreams come to fruition.

Yet, they didn't question why they couldn't locate the scion, for they were believers, their paths, their existence, their everything was dedicated to this master-less path... the path of despair.

The violet eyed fragment smiled staring at the countless fools kneeling to it's vestiges.
