Pandemonium breaks loose as the other horses catch sight of the charging lion, with Piet trying desperately to stay in the saddle, his muscular arms now wrapped around his horse’s neck. Jacques Le Vee lies unconscious, directly in line with the lion's charge, but the feline's eyes are firmly fixed on the rump of the bolting horse, and as it reaches the prone horseman the big cat swerves around the still body and charges into the thick bush in hot pursuit of the runaway horse.
