Julia Locke POV:
Rob and several other members of his team arrived shortly after Marcus. I moved out to sit on my sofa to avoid people crowding in my bedroom.
It was awkward with all of them there, particularly because of the history this group shared with Marcus, but I ignored it. It wasn’t my problem. The Red Chapter already beginning to target my family was.
They asked me questions about what I happened, and I answered, telling which of my people had killed, and where they could be found. The entire time, Marcus sat on the sofa with me, gently rubbing my back.
After I finished answering their questions, Rob and the other Inquisitors left.
Marcus stayed with me after they left, and we sat together in silence for a long time.
At any other time, I would have been thrilled to have Marcus here to comfort me. But now it didn’t feel as right as I thought it would.
“Marcus, I have a question for you,” I spoke up softly.
“What is it, Julia?”
