Capítulo 13: The next morning
The next morning, we went to the the building. We were put into five groups, exactly as I expected. In every group were about 30 people. I was lucky and became part of the group with the person, who was a 6th rank, but to be sure, I still wrote a farewell message the day before. I can't really give much to my kids, as I am poor, but at least some words would reach them, if I would die...
After we were put in groups, we started to go inside the building. Three groups were at the first floor and two groups at the second. Our group was on the first floor. We searched and searched, to find monsters and I could see how people slowly became calmer and calmer.
After around thirty minutes we changed the floors, while the rest of the groups stayed on the floors they already were. We were stronger and faster, so we were assigned to be the first group to change floors. Actually we were only faster because, this 6th ranked guy in our group, has a skill to open closed doors without keys, the keys probably didn't even exist anymore, as these apartments were empty for years now.
We went to the third of the five possible floors, and looked around there. In some rooms, we still could see, some things left behind by people that once lived here. It is no wonder after all, that no one lives here anymore, after what happened 15 years ago. It still is a mystery, how someone could bring monsters into a savezone. That person killed so many people in this savezone, that no new people from other areas came here anymore for a few years. This person wasn't captured to this day. Just a few months ago, I heard he was in a savezone, not far from this one. He might even return to here and bring fear back to the people living here. It would be a major problem, as there arent many strong people in this city, and even if there were, most of them are in portals all the time, to make sure no monsters come and destroy the barrier of a savezone.
On the third floor, we couldn't find any monsters either. It slowly got weird, normally we would have found about 30-50 monsters, at this point in time, but we didn't find even one yet. It was already midday, as we came to the last room in this floor. We opened it and didn't even try to be quietly anymore, as there weren't any monsters to be seen yet, but we couldn't believe what we saw. It was a completely clean apartment, as if someone would still live here. We looked around and suddenly could hear something, something or someone was singing, while taking a shower?
We all had a weird look on our faces, how could anyone live in such a apartment, in which it was quite possible to die any second through a monster. We couldn't understand, why anyone would do this. Then the 6th ranked said something, which made the most sense: "it must be a monster, that tries to trick us, be careful, everyone!"
We slowly approached the seemingly bathroom, and decided to slowly open it. Our captain(the 6th ranked guy) quietly looks through the door and suddenly screamed. We all thought, that this means, a monster was inside, a monster not even our captain could win against. We all decided to get our weapons out and be ready to fight it, in case it would come out of this room. Though we didn't have good weapons. We waited and waited, but our captain didn't say anything at all, he seems to be terrified.

I was just taking a shower, as usual, even though I hadn't done so in 20 years and didn't smell bad at all. I still liked to take this shower to keep the old memories alive of life before the monster arrived in our world. Suddenly, I heard something; someone was screaming. It seemed to be a human, but I knew it could also be a monster, trying to deceive me.
I quickly finished taking the shower and put on my casual clothes. I stepped out of the bathroom and was met with an unexpected sight. In front of me were around 30 humans, all of them armed with some kind of different weapon, some had swords and other bows, but none appeared to have a pistol. Then, I remembered that weapons like pistols aren't effective against monsters and most hunters/awakened.
After a few weird seconds, I could hear one of the humans say something: "He is no monster, he is just a normal civilian, still living in here, we should ask the people, organizing the project to talk this out with him. That is, if he can show us that he actually lives here..." I instantly knew, that this was the person, who screamed a few minutes ago. I showed him my key and id, I luckily still had on the table next to me, and asked if they would kindly leave me alone afterwards. They agreed and went away.
Just one person stayed behind and introduced himself as, Joe Setterls. He was assigned to stay here to make sure, I wouldn't just go away. He was a rather muscular man, which was big, but seemed to be nice.
As the others left, he asked me, if I could give him some drinks and I agreed. We both got ourselves some water and sat at one of my tables and started to talk.
After talking with him a little bit, I knew he was a nice guy and exactly is the kind of guy our world needs to be awakened. So I asked him what power he would like to have, if he ever awakened. He said, he would like, to just have the power to protect his children.
As nice as I'm, I decided to awaken him, this was the last person, I was able to awaken, as the system said, I was only able to awake three people. One of them being me, the other the little kid and now this man in front of me. I decided to type in: The Ability to create a shield, made of magic to protect himself and people he likes.
