Capítulo 18: 5 Years Later

(General POV)

It's been five years since then.

Not much has changed in Forks. The weather was still as gloomy as ever and the people, even more so. Other than the sudden 'arrival' of Carlisle Cullen's foster kids that came during summer break, life went on as usual in the dreary city.

As for Alan; the young boy had now grown up.

His boyish appearance had long vanished and replacing it was the handsome appearance of a young man entering adulthood.

Since his arrival in this world five years ago, Alan has lived a relatively peaceful life minus that one year. Despite his initial feelings of being an outsider in this supposed world of fiction, five years was enough time for him to accept that he was now a permanent resident of this world.

The relationships he developed with various characters were factors that played an important role in his changing mindset.

No longer were they 'just' characters of a fictional story but 'real' people. Real people with real lives and real emotions.

He could sympathize with them and understand their feelings - something he couldn't do if they were just characters in a story.

Take his relationship with Charlie for example. Charlie Swan was someone he acknowledged as his father. Despite the biological barrier between them, he was taken in and cared for. Sure, Charlie wasn't the type to show his emotions easily but Alan knew that the man somewhat considered him his son.

That was something Alan was grateful for.

As for his relationship with Bella, they were like siblings. Although they had only met in person once, they still kept contact with each other through the years and every time Charlie went down to Phoenix, he would help the two exchange gifts and letters.

Jacob was the same as ever aside from that ridiculous hairdo he had. He and Alan were best pals along with Seth. Not much has changed about their relationship other than the time they spent together being reduced due to various things. However, their time together along with the events of the first year Alan spent in this world made Alan realize something that had crossed his mind when he first arrived here.

This world may not have been the 'Twilight' he knew. Sure it was still Twilight but there were numerous evidence to suggest that this world was a version of the Twilight he knew. His presence could have caused a Butterfly effect but with what Alan has observed and noticed, the former suggestion seemed much more plausible.

The probability of this world being an alternate universe of the original Twilight one was high.

That would mean the knowledge he currently thought he had could be wrong and the assumptions he made before regarding various events could also be wrong.

His train of thoughts brought him to another piece of information that sat blank.

Who was he?

Yes, his name was Alan and he was a transmigrator but WHO was he?

If one thought about it, it's kind of strange that he woke up in a warehouse of all places. Why was a boy no older than 12 even in a warehouse in the middle of nowhere in the first place? Did the body just appear there or was there more to the story?

The questions in his head only brought on more questions, all of which were unanswered.

However, he hoped that wouldn't be the case for long.

Alan couldn't help but stare jaw-dropped at his friend.

With swept back hair, a tight white t-shirt with a black leather jacket on top of it, and a pair of ripped jeans, Sean Wells hopped off his motorcycle and sauntered toward to him with arms opened.

"Alan, my friend, wassup?"

"You..." Alan was momentarily speechless, "What's with the get-up?"

"What do you mean?" asked the other before turning around. Running a hand through his hair, the boy said, "This is my new look. Pretty cool, eh?"

"Sure..." replied Alan scanning his friend from head to toe. Then in a sarcastic tone; "If you're aiming to star in W*ttpad's latest bad boy novel. What the hell man?"

"Don't girls dig this kind of look?" asked the brunette. "You've got competition this year my boy."

Alan was once again rendered speechless as he watched his friend give flirty winks to various passing girls. Shaking his head, he briefly wondered if an alien possessed his friend's body. What happened to the studious nerdy boy he met in middle school?

"You know what, I don't even care," muttered Alan with a sigh. Tugging Sean's arm, he said, "C'mon. The opening assembly should be starting soon."

As the two made their way up the stairs, Alan suddenly felt himself being watched.

That's when he noticed the students around him were staring at something or rather, someone behind him.

Turning around, he noticed a Mercedes-Benz C-Class convertible driving into a parking spot and stepping out of it, the newly arrived Cullen foster kids.

"Holy shit," someone muttered.

But Alan didn't notice. His attention was on one specific female that stepped out of the vehicle. Perhaps noticing his blatant staring, her eyes looked up at met his.

Alan's eyes widened as an unfamiliar feeling passed through his chest.

'Alice Cullen?'

The two of them stared at each other for a minute or so before Alan averted his eyes out of embarrassment. He looked at the other 'siblings' and frowned when he noticed an unfamiliar face among them holding Jasper's hand.

'Who is that? Wasn't Alice Jasper's partner...' Oh right. This was a supposed alternate universe.

But then, wouldn't that mean that Alice didn't have a partner right now?

Alan didn't know why he felt relieved at that.

"Dude, THOSE are Dr. Cullens' foster kids?" Sean's voice snapped Alan out of his thoughts. "Damn. Looks like I have more competition now."

Resisting the urge to roll his eyes at his friend's words, Alan gave one more look at the new arrivals before walking inside. Whatever this pounding in his chest was, he could ignore it for now.

In the mean time...

"No way...THAT guy is your destined one?" Emmett asked in shock.

"Yes, it appears so," Alice replied. "I didn't think he was the same person as that boy you rescued five years ago."

That's when Rosalie realized something.

"Now that I think about it, when you saw him in your vision, you said there were blue flames surrounding him. It could've been referring to that day we found him after Rowan kidnapped him."

Jasper and Leslie's eyes widened when they realized what she was implying.

"Right. Rowan's body was burning with blue flames," muttered Leslie. "How come we never considered the possibility then?"

"Because we were preoccupied I guess," Rosalie sighed. Putting a hand on her hip, she said, "Then, could he have been the cause of Rowan's death?"

"But how...he's human," Alice replied with a slight frown.

"I don't know about that..."

Hearing Edward's sudden words, the group looked at him in confusion.

"What do you mean?" asked Alice. "What else could he be?"

Edward, however, pursed his lips at gazed up at the stairs where the subject of their attention was previously standing. After a minute, he said, "I don't know."

"Then why..."

"Because I cannot read his mind," replied the stoic male. Turning to the others, he spoke solemnly, "I can't read his mind at all. There's something blocking me from doing so."

After he said that, the group descended into silence.
