Laura and Gabriella
The Palace - That Same Night 10 PM
After dinner and a night full of laughter, they returned to Gabriella’s apartments.
taking off her shoes, Gabriella flipped on the lights. Snow white plush carpeting covered the floor. She loved how the carpet felt under her bare feet.
“I just don’t understand it,” Sophie said behind her, closing the door. “I mean, none of the wolves have relationships except when they’re having children?”
“That’s just how it works when you live for half a millennium,” Gabriella said over her shoulder, heading to the bar. “You need to understand that nothing changes much here. It’s not like we have new things to talk about or need financial security. Everything is provided to us. We all know each others’ stories.
“If anything new comes along,” Gabriella continued, looking over her shoulder and winking at Sophie. “Well, let’s just say, we’re all about it.”
She made two martinis and brought one to Sophie who accepted it with a smile.
