The birds chirp as a new morning comes around, everyone was asleep but my mother was wide awake.

"Where are you when I need you," my mom said to herself, sitting by the kitchen table and drinking coffee by herself.

"You're never here when I need you Ken," She held back tears as she spoke to herself.

"My kid and his friends are gone, my nephew is also missing."

"Everyone thinks they're dead but.."

"They can't be, right?"

She rests her head on the table arms folded around it, crying ugly tears,

"Haru, I'm so so sorry!"

"Forgive me,"

Eli sat on the bed he once was, staring outside with curiosity and confusion, where was he? Why was he here?

"Am I dead?" He said to himself as he stared out at the city ahead, blinding orange lights, busy crowds, and the forever black sky, nothing like the country he grew up in.

"You seem perplexed," The girl from before said, bringing him a glass of water.
