Chapter Fifteen

Once I’m on the bridge, Kia is waiting for me. I swing up onto her as she runs by me. I’m so angry right now I could scream. How did hunting down a murderer turn into me fighting for my independence once again? That’s all I ever seem to do. I always have to fight to be myself and I’m sick of it. I’m tired of being strong. I’m tired of being forced to put up a front. I can protect myself, as well as my kingdom and way of life. I’m not something to protect. I’m an asset. Well and likely an ass as well. Silas is right about that. Then again, he’s right about a lot of things.

Kia has taken me to a cliff side so I can practice my ariels. I’ve been practicing for hours, and I know this due to the setting sun. One of these days, I will manage to beat my father. Or anyone for that matter. I scream when a gust of wind hits me and sends me sailing. I manage to stop myself inches from the water and get sprayed, turning my legs slightly turquoise as it reacts.
