Capítulo 9: Chapter 9: Burning

It was late. Sage treaded through the hall with light footsteps, her cloak helping to keep her hidden in the shadows. She didn’t know where she was headed but the urgency in her chest had her nearly running as she moved through the corridors. She needed to clear her mind, needed to walk off her thoughts.

Caspian came from the night, stopping her dead in her tracks, eyes shining their marvelous purple.

“Witch,” he said, his voice a growl.

He came toward her in three steps, and Sage stumbled back until she found herself with her back to the wall. He pulled the cloak hood from Sage’s head, letting it fall to her shoulders.

“Why are you wandering the halls?” he asked. He moved closer.

Sage gasped as he pressed against her. She didn’t answer his question. His hands wandered to her hips, squeezing tightly. Caspian searched her eyes before dipping his head to kiss her neck.

“Were you searching for me?”

His voice heated her from the inside out.
