Capítulo 23: Chapter 23: Friends At Last

Nancy’s POV

We take Carter’s car to Quick Pasta since it’s not on campus. The ride is quiet; neither Carter nor I try to start a conversation. However, he does play some older alternative rock band songs to fill the silence.

The roads are mostly clear of other cars; people are either still at work or school right now. Pulling into Quick Pasta, we find an empty parking spot. I get out as soon as Carter turns the car off.

Quick Pasta is exactly what it sounds like—a fast-food pasta place. Stepping inside I can see they haven’t changed anything. There are still cream-colored walls with pictures of different types of pasta, light wooden floors, brown tables, chairs, and booths. The smell of different sauces assaults my nose instantaneously.

We step in line behind a small group of people, but the wait isn’t long.

“Hi, welcome to Quick Pasta, what can I get for you?” the young girl behind the counter says.
