[Tessia Eralith POV]
Today was just the first day in the school year, so there was no class, it was time for students to get to know the school and walk around to learn all the basics possible. But I couldn't believe that on that first day, there was already a fight first thing in the morning, and worse, Arthur and Luz were involved in it.
"That was a shock...." I spoke quietly as I sat at my desk in the Student Council office.
This room was in the same academy building that my mentor Cynthia Goodsky's room was in. It was made this way so that we could always be close to her when there was a problem and we needed to contact her as soon as possible. It was also in this building that there was another group that was still being formed, the name is Disciplinary Committee.
Apparently this committee would do similar jobs to the Student Council, but instead of filling out paperwork and trying to work things out in conversation, they would be aggressive and make risky decisions when necessary. We could say it's the same idea as a good guard and a bad guard in an interrogation room.
Clive was against this idea, saying that our group could do that job too, but Grandma Cynthia said that if that were the case, the Student Council would have a lot of trouble getting things done, and that unlike us, the committee would only be formed by people with the same sense of morality that she has, with the function of disciplining students who didn't follow the rules or who showed aggression and discrimination between races. It doesn't matter if the student is a famous noble or not, this committee would act as if everyone was in the same boat.
This didn't sit well with Jarrod, the treasurer of the council, but we had no say in the fact that our sense of morals was different from Goodsky's. And that some of us would be tame with famous noble students, instead of really doing the work.
"The way Clive acted with Luz... As if he was superior and had all right... Like he is my vice president... but still, on top of that he didn't let me speak, as if my words were obvious to him... As if I was so easy to read that he actually forget that I had and NEED to say a thing at least. Really, our group wouldn't serve those functions that Grandma Cynthia wants." I thought, looking now at the paperwork in front of me, were the witnesses written about the fight that took place this morning. Everyone was saying very similar things.
"A trio of human students went to help a dwarf student who was going to be attacked outside of the dueling system."
"One of the human students faced the attacker without using mana"
"One of the human students used earth magic to keep the dwarf out of harm's way."
With so many similarities, it was impossible for anyone to disprove the fact that this actually happened. After all, there were eight people who were there if I don't count Arthur, Luz, the attacker, the dwarf and the student with glasses who was with them.
A few hours passed, and at the moment I was having a small meeting with the my group at the head table. It was just to reorganize some thoughts, so that tomorrow, at our meeting with the new committee that would be formed, we would already have comments prepared.
Someone seemed to knock on the front door and Lilia got up to see who it was, after all, she was our secretary. We couldn't see her from the way the rooms were located, but we could hear her squeal in surprise.
"L-lilia?!" Jarrod, our treasurer, exclaimed as he stood up to see what had happened, we ended up following him.
Luckily, it didn't seem like a serious situation, but even so, my eyes widened seeing the scene. Lilia was in front of the open door and what had made her scream out of nowhere, was seeing that same boy with black hair and light eyes, he looked like he was carrying a tray.
"Geez, Lily. Did you really scream at the sight of me? I thought I taught you better than that." Luz said laughing, it seemed that he didn't realize that it wasn't just Lilia who was seeing him there.
"Y-You arrived while we were in a meeting! And worse, it was when we were talking about the incident that happened in the morning. Seriously, of course I was going to freak out, it's like we summoned you out of nowhere!!!" Lilia said, hitting him a little on the shoulder.
"Woah. Sorry, I may be super skilled, but I'm not a seer." Luz said smiling at her.
"Hm.. What are you doing here? It's already quite late at evening..." Clive spoke, suspecting something was wrong, but I could feel that he was holding back anger at the green ice that was in his hand before. Luckily, Lilia and I were close, so we used our magic to melt the ice as soon as we could.
"Oh, no big deal. Just an apology followed by..." Luz took the lid off the tray and I was even surprised.
"Some sweets. Like Lilia and Tessia, I know other people who are already studying around here, and one of those people is sick of cupcakes, so I already had several that I made in advance... I thought to myself 'maybe deliver some of this isn't a bad idea.' So here I am." He said still smiling, for a few seconds I thought why he suddenly stopped using nicknames, but then I realized it was because he was talking to Clive.
"Oh! How nice, it's really nice of you to sacrifice some of those cupcakes for us, thanks." Fable, our PR director, said with that big smile of his as he carefully picked up the tray.
"Hmmm... I still haven't bought this idea, can someone check if it's poisoned?" Clive said to us as he faced the boy I consider my brother.
"Heh?! Why did you say that?" Lilia said, confused.
"Is there a problem, Clive?" I also asked super confused.
"Well, I just think it's impossible for someone to give away things like that without any pretext, especially someone like him." He kept staring Luz.
"... Like me? What are you talking about?" Luz asked, tilting his head a little to the side.
"During the afternoon, I gathered some information, a commoner within our school... How stupid... I don't know how you got in here, but you will never approach the nobility. Why don't you just get out of here while we dump that bribe you delivered?" Clive replied, I was even more confused, where was he getting so much stupid logic from? It even paralyzed me.
"What?!? Is that a bribe?" Flabe said with his mouth full, he was already eating one of the cupcakes.
"Of course it's a bribe, after all he's delivering this to us, at a time of evening, and on the same day he caused trouble." Clive was talking, and I was still trying to understand the stupid logic he was having.
"I'm sorry, but did you research it correctly?" Luz asked, with a smile I could only describe as insane.
"What are you implying? And why didn't you get out of here already?" Clive said trying to intimidate, but as expected from my big brother, it didn't work.
"Firstly, you said that I will never approach the nobility... Should I remind you that I literally live on Lilia's family estate and am known to Tessia?" Luz said, with the smile still plastered on his face, but his voice showing irritation.
"And second, in theory, I'm a noble too, apparently you only looked at reports from the Kingdom of Sapin, but you didn't look at those from the Kingdom of Elenoir." Luz said showing the golden medal he received before he could go back to Sapin, seeing that made me have some nostalgic memories of the party.
". . ." Clive was silent as he looked at the medal and then looked at me and Lilia.
". . . this is fabricated, and I will not believe such stupidity." He spoke in a monotone.
"Uh... Clive... He's not lying." I said to see if he woke up from the fantasy world he was living there.
".... What?" he looked at me with a neutral face.
"Luz is an acquaintance of mine, in fact he and I are so close that I even consider him my brother. And the medal is real, he is the first human to have an elven title..." I said it slowly to see if he understood.
Jarrod and Fable were wide-eyed to hear this information coming out of my mouth, Lilia put her hand on her cheek, pretending to be surprised, but her face was the complete opposite. Apparently Luz had told her about me before, but why hadn't she told me about knowing Luz? Maybe they'd promised not to make comments like that and wait for everyone to be there in person?
"Oh... Oh my god.. How crazy...." Lilia was saying monotonously now as she slowly walked out of the room, and closed the door with Luz being outside with her.
"Wait... So it was him...? BITCH!!!" Jarrod exclaimed, heading to his office.
"Eh?!?" I looked confused in Jarrod's direction, not understanding what was happening, I looked at Clive, and he was standing like a statue, still processing what I said.
"Wow, a single boy destabilized us in less than 1 day?... HOW AMAZING! Tessia, tell me, is he the type who knows how to speak very well in public?" Fable said handing me one of the cupcakes from that tray and I just nodded in agreement.
"Great! I'll want to talk to him. Picking up new strategies is never a bad thing." Fable said, as he walked back to his office.
It was just me and Clive there, I went to the tray that had the cupcakes, took one, and put it in Clive's mouth, still gaping, he still couldn't believe what happened there. I didn't say anything else, I just went to my office too.

[Cynthia Goodsky POV]
I was filling out some paperwork in my office, it was related to the new group I was creating, the Disciplinary Committee, or just DC for short. Most of the students I wanted on this committee had already agreed to participate in advance last year. I was just making adjustments, as I was thinking of calling a few more students at the last minute.
Among the participants were upperclass students, Claire Bladeheart, Curtis Glayder, Kai Crestless and Theodore Maxwell. But there were also underclass students like Feyrith Ivsaar III, Doradrea Oreguard and Kathyln Glayder. Officially, there were five humans, an elf and a dwarf, however, I felt that three more spots were possible to be filled among the new faces.
I got up from my chair, grabbed a briefcase and walked out of my office. I was looking around as I went down the stairs, since my room was on the top floor of the building, but when I got to the student council floor, I ended up seeing something that surprised me.
In the main hall of the floor were Luz Leywin and Lilia Helstea. The boy was leaning with his back to the wall as the girl talked to him, her cheeks were clearly red. The boy noticed my presence and turned to face me, waving, Miss Helstea noticed right after I was there, getting even redder in the cheeks.
"Director Goodsky!? W-What are you doing at this hour? Want some help?" Lilia Helstea said in a trembling voice.
"Oho... I'm the one who should ask you guys that, shouldn't I?" I asked with a raised eyebrow and a mischievous smile on my face, again the boy was the only one of the two who didn't seem bothered by the way I insinuated something.
"No big deal, Cynthia. There was a problem involving the dueling system today, I was in the middle... So I decided to come here to apologize. Actually... I already made the apology, now I'm just talking to Lily." Luz Leywin said, as if it were something common.
"Oh, I heard that, things blow through this school like the wind... But wait...Lily?" I smirked at the student council secretary, who was now hiding her face with both hands.
"Okay, but still, I think this is lucky. I was heading to the underclass students' dorm to meet you and your brother." I commented looking at the boy.
"Anything else involving us? What would it be? Are you going to invite us to the committee?" His questions surprised me, after all, the committee was something only the student council knew about.
It even seemed that he read my mind, because he took my doubt. "Curtis was at my sister's birthday last year, and he commented on this Committee. Have you decided what the official name would be?"
"It will be called the Disciplinary Committee. Tomorrow is the day they will officially present themselves to the school and also when I will release to all members, new rooms in this building, since where we are is a place just for me, for the student council, and to the disciplinary committee. And yes.. I was going to ask you to join it. What do you think?" I said with a little laugh.
"I'd love to, but I'd like access to the ENTIRE academy library and permission to take classes from an upperclass student."
"Luz!? Are you really crazy? Are you really making such an offer—?" Before Lilia Helstea could finish speaking, I was nodding in agreement.
"Of course, and I bet your brother will want things like that in return too, won't he?" the girl was in shock that I had accepted the boy's idea.
"Hehe. There are a lot of things you don't know about us, but yes, you're right about that, Cynthia." Luz Leywin said, heading towards me.
"Fine. Take the package that has your name on it." I said opening the briefcase in my hand, revealing packages containing committee uniforms, along with some accessories.
The Leywin boy took the package with his name on it and laughed. "Oh, so you're not just going to call Arthur, are you going to call Elijah too?" He said after seeing the name that was on the other two packages.
"Yes, Arthur for being as prodigious as you are, and Elijah for he is considered a representative of Darv. Currently on the committee, we only have one other dwarf, so that way it doesn't look too weird, don't you think?" I said and he nodded in agreement.
"Considering that this committee is supposed to kick the ass of anyone who causes problems, no matter what race they are, it's really a good idea to have representatives of all three races, at least it doesn't end up being considered a racist group." He said, but soon the girl slapped him on the back of the head.
"Don't use that language!? My god, I feel like Aunt Alice would be pulling your ears for a whole week if she saw this scene." Lilia Helstea commented and I giggled a little, reminding me of when their mother kept tugging on Arthur's ear whenever he wasn't formal with me.
"Okay, with that out of the way, I'll go to the dorms to break the news to the boys. Do you want to accompany me, it's already night, you shouldn't even be here at this hour." I was talking to Luz, who simply accepted the idea.
He says goodbye to the daughter of the Helstea and then we went together to the dormitory building. There wasn't much conversation, just a few simple comments about how our days were and how when I talked to him, I felt like I was talking to Virion. He snapped doing an almost perfect imitation of that old man calling me "Old Witch!" making us laugh for nothing.
Arriving at the dorms, we parted ways, he wanted to go straight to bed instead of seeing the other two's reaction to being invited to the committee. Luz warned me that Arthur already knew about the existence of this new group, while Elijah had no idea of this possibility, and that for Elijah to accept it for sure, I should say that there was a high chance of him getting girlfriends by joining the committee.
I was confused by that comment, but Luz just had to answer me, that Elijah is a thirsty for women, that I understood everything and I've already started to plan a malefic plan of what words to use so that Darv's representative doesn't refuse the invitation. Arriving in room number 394, I gave a small knock on the door, already starting to hear voices on the other side.
"—Maybe our neighbors are just saying hello?" I heard a voice approaching the door.
The owner of the voice opened the door for me, it was Elijah Knight. "Who is..." He was stunned to see it was me, it was even a little comical.
After a few seconds, Arthur Leywin appeared there too, probably worried about his roommate who was frozen in the same position by surprise, I gave them a slight smile. "Good Evening, Arthur, Elijah. May I come in?"
"D-D-Director Goodsky! I-It's an honor to see you again." Elijah gave a forceful bow that looked almost comedic, when he lifted his head back up, he made this too quickly, almost dropping his glasses in the process. This made me smile a little, this was really a funny way to react, but I needed to be polite in front of them.
"Please come in, Director Goodsky. Elijah, stop blocking the dooway." Arthur pulled out the chair from a desk, motioning for me to take a seat on the sofa there.
"I told to call me 'Cynthia'." I walked to the sofa, taking a seat on it.
"I don't think it would be wise of a twelve-year-old with no background to be on a first-name basis with the director of the most prestigious academy in this continent." He chuckled as he took a seat on his chair, while I sat cross-legged on the couch.
I noticed his bond there in the couch on my side. For some reason, it was now white like snow, what made me ask what was going on, since the last time I saw it, it was a black mana beast. "My... Your bond has changed a lot in appearance since the last time we met. Intriguing." I tried to hold the mana beast, but it hopped out of my reach and nestled itself on Arthur's head.
"Haha, as shy as before, I see." I looked more at it, but after, I returned my gaze to him. "Hmmmm... So, how is my precious Quadra-Elemental student doing?"
"Fine, just waiting to see my classes tomorrow." He said.
"Talking about classes. I wanted you to know... That, because of you genius type, I will give to you full access to advanced books and some upperclasses. Since you decided to be a Scholar Mage..." I said with a smile in my face.
"... Okay, what's the catch this time, Old Witch? This is to good to dont have some backslash on me." I laught in my mind when he used the same expression Luz used before, they really are brothers.
"Arthur, I'm heartbroken! I only wanted to do this for your growth!" I placed a hand on top of my heart, acting as if genuinely offended.
"Art! You're being rude to the director!" Elijah's voice was described in a single word... 'Panic'. While this was happen, Arthur smiled at me, waiting silently for my answer.
I sighed. "Very well. I really have one favor that I want you to do for having this extra things."
"Please, don't say that you want me to be in the Student Council." he shook his head.
"Don't worry, I wouldn't leave you in the same group as the elven princess. Even if you are known, I know very well that your presence there would make her not focus on the tasks." I said, and soon I saw his cheeks turn extremely red.
I quickly replied, as if reading his mind. "She told me how special you were and that you were a person she admired. Even though I'm her mentor, her goal is to at least reach the same level as you, or a level that you can look up for her and not see her as weak."
Arthur blushed even more as he looked away and spoke. "Does she... Does she really use me as the highest motivation?..."
"Yes, and I think she'll love it if you get closer to her." I said with a smile when I saw his reaction.
"Closer? But you said that you're not here to invite me to the Student Council." he asked confused.
"I want you... No... I want you and your friend, Elijah, to join a committee that I'm doing, this group will debut tomorrow and will have the function of solving problems, toxic and racist discussions, and things that level, directly. Let's just say... They're a kind of Guard, who can discipline anyone on the spot, if there's enough evidence. I know Elijah will probably accept without a second thought, but for you, Arthur. The reward would be those extra things I mentioned before." I was saying that, looking at both of them, Arthur in front of me and Elijah standing to the side.
Elijah started to stutter trying to find the right words, but ended up just bowing comically again, as if it was an honor for that request. On the other hand, Arthur had a thoughtful face.
"And what does that have to do with getting closer to Tessia?" Arthur asked again.
"It's because, obviously, both the Student Council and the Disciplinary Committee, will have some meetings together, to solve common problems, besides, the rooms that you will have, along with the committee's office, are in the building where my office and where Student Council members stay." I answered him.
"I see…" He was still very thoughtful, while Elijah was still in a position of thanks, causing me to give a small laugh.
"I think that to speed up your decision I should speak up... Your brother has also been selected to join the committee, and he has already accepted." I said, making Arthur nod in agreement as he understood the situation.
"Fine, I'll accept, but since I'll have Upperclass and Underclass subjects.... I want to have one more small advantage in terms of schedules." He raised a very important point, after all it would be long hours of class.
"You can talk." I made a gesture with my hand for him to continue.
"I want permission to be late to class by no more than 15 minutes." He asked and I agreed, it wasn't such a big deal, if I think that he would be accepting being in a disciplinary group and in exchange not having much free time.
"Great. So, do we start tomorrow?" He asked just to get confirmation.
"Yes." I opened the briefcase, showing them the packages that held their uniforms and accessories. "Tomorrow morning, you will have a meeting with the other members of the disciplinary committee. And after that, you will have to go to the auditorium to make official the existence of this new group. So I recommend that you wake up very early. In total, counting you, we have ten members, five representing the humans, two representing the elves, two representing the dwarves and one representing the elements~" I spoke the last parts looking straight into their eyes.
Elijah seemed to smile as he realized that he wouldn't be the only dwarf representative there, while Arthur chuckled at me having considered him an elemental representative and not a representative of any race. Arthur got up and walked over to give me a handshake.
"Will we meet you there?" He said.
I stood up, accepting the handshake. "There is a chance, but maybe not."
I smiled and walked out of their room. Starting to walk back to my office, past the beautiful evening landscape of the campus. I noticed something like an owl approaching me and landing on my shoulder, it was my bond, Avier.
"Any news?" I asked him mentally.
"None, for now the surrounding areas are clean." Avier, my wyvern disguised as an owl, answered me.
"Great and what about the patrol involving the students?" I asked as I walked with him.
"If you're asking about those young boys from the Leywin family. I would say I felt an incredible and terrifying presence coming from them. In the case of the brown haired boy, I think it comes from him and his bond. But in the case of the dark haired boy, I felt like his aura was going to devour me, even as I was flying away. And I think he didn't even notice me, which makes it weirder that his aura gives me that feeling." he said, making me look wide-eyed.
"I only have one thing to say, mistress Cynthia, if they see you as an obstacle, even a tiny one, it will be the end of us." Avier said that leaving my shoulder and flying towards my office window.
"...." I got a cold sweat with those words, I even stopped walking a little, standing under a point of light made by an artifact.
"Will it be the end of me if I'm a thorn in their path?... He's never been that serious with me since he warned me to get off the street when Cadell was in a celebratory parade... Now I'm relieved that at least Luz Leywin talk to me as if I were an old acquaintance." I thought, taking a deep, long breath as I made my way back to my office.
"But... It's a relief to know that mages like the two of them will be a great example for this new generation." Those were my last thoughts before I locked myself in my room.
[Claire Bladeheart POV]
The morning was really amazing and beautiful, having woken up around 5 am, I was able to enjoy a beautiful sunrise, while having a cup of coffee in the Disciplinary Committee kitchen area.
Yes... the Disciplinary Committee. I had been the first of all the members to get permission from Director Goodsky to sleep in the room assigned to me. The reason for this? Simple, she had left me as a temporary leader, because of that, I was responsible for tidying up the basics, before I could meet the students who would be joining me in this group.
As I continued to observe the scenery in one of the windows, I heard someone knocking on the door. I was wearing my new assigned black uniform, so if it was any of my new classmates, I'd have no problem letting them in. Unlike what I imagined, when I opened the door, I saw a package on the floor, along with a paper. I grabbed the items and closed the door, eventually leaving the package on the head table while I read the paper, still drinking coffee.
"Hmmm... Interesting." I whispered to myself as I read.
That was a list of the committee members. It was pretty simple and said everything I needed to know. It had a name, year, age, mana core stage in the beggining of this school year, elemental affinity, and a small photo of people's faces. The names were all written in different colors which confused me.
I looked at the other side of the paper, and saw some sort of explanation. Apparently, in the package there would be items that would serve as sorts of glowing communicators, and the colors in the names that were on the list symbolized which color each one represented.
I returned to the front of the list and started reading from top to bottom, as I'd only had a quick look, but I felt like I'd seen familiar names.
"Arthur Leywin (Grey), first year, age 12, Dark Yellow, Fire(Lightning) - Water(Ice) - Earth - Wind Augmenter"
"Claire Bladeheart (Pink), fifth year, age 17, Solid Orange, Wind - Fire Augmenter."
"Curtis Glayder (Red), fourth year, age 15, Solid Orange, Fire Augmenter."
"Doradrea Oreguard (Dark Red), first year, age 14, Light Red, Earth Augmenter."
"Elijah Knight (Orange), first year, age 13, Solid Orange, Earth(Metal) Conjurer."
"Feyrith Ivsaar III (Green), first year, age 15, Light Orange, Water Conjurer"
"Kai Crestless (Silver), fourth year, age 16, Dark Orange, Metal Augmenter."
"Kathyln Glayder (Blue), first year, age 12, Light Red, Water(Ice) Conjurer."
"Luz Leywin (Black), first year, age 13, Light Yellow, Fire(Lightning) - Wind(Sound) Conjurer."
"Theodore Maxwell (Yellow), sixth year, age 18, Solid Orange, Earth(Gravity) Augmenter."
Initially, I didn't realize it, because it had famous names of some students, and even had the prince and princess of Sapin. But soon I noticed the name of 2 specific people, I ended up dropping the coffee mug, spilling it on the floor, but not breaking it because it is made of a resistant material.
"Leywins... Diamond... Note... On the disciplinary committee...?" I started to do some light chuckling as I held the paper tighter.
"And they're the only ones above the Orange Stage and they're only in their first year.. And my god, I never realized how insane it is that he's Quadra Elemental! Ah... I couldn't be more surprised than that!!! Wait... Does she know?! Director Goodsky knows about them?!?" I was a little panicked about the situation and soon took a deep breath to calm myself down.
"Claire Bladeheart... Calm down... It's going to be okay... If they're on the list, it means they're within the Director's limits... But wait... Will I be my mentor's leader? This seems so wrong..... I think we'll have a vote between us later to find out who will be the official leader." I thought as I took the mug and left it on the table, using wind magic, I cleaned the mess on the floor.
Once again there was a knock on the door, I gave a sigh, still calming myself. "I'm on my way!" I warned, as I approached the door and opened it, revealing a man approximately 2 meters tall, with a musculature that I could have compared to a bear's, if it weren't for the photo on the committee's membership list and the uniform he wore, I would think it was an invader.
"Good morning Miss Bladeheart, it's been a long time." he said as I made way for him to enter.
"It's really good to see you Theodore, and please call me Claire." I answered him, soon noticing another person coming along with him.
"Good morning Claire. How are you doing?" Said a tall boy, but not as tall as Theodore, he was also thin and the thing that most caught my attention was his light gray hair.
"Hello Kai, nice to see you. And I'm fine, I just had a little accident as you can see." I spoke, pointing to a small stain I had on my uniform from when I spilled my coffee.
"Well, we just ask some water mage for help and then you use wind magic, simple." Theodore provided an easy alternative to the situation, and I agreed.
"Oooh... And what would that be?" Kai Crestless was pointing to the package on the table.
"From what I understand, inside that there are several communication devices for us. I'm waiting for everyone to arrive to open. It's still 5:30 a.m, isn't it?" I spoke, closing the door and walking towards them.
"Yes, I hope the other members don't take long to arrive. I want to see who we're working with." Kai said smiling and rubbing his palms together.
"Hmmm... Really, do you know who the members are?" Theodore asked as he sat down in one of the chairs.
"Actually, I already knew about you, and a few others. But I received the list just now along with this package." I had say, a little reluctant to show Theodore the list.
"Hmm... Any problem?" He raised an eyebrow.
"None, it's just that... I feel that the newbies who have joined are very... Powerful." I said trying to lighten the situation.
"Oooh? Powerful? Well, we're here because our beautiful Director Goodsky was looking for powerful people with strong morals. What's wrong with powerful people?" Kai asked curiously.
"It's just... Two first-year students... They're in the yellow stage, and they're both deviants in two elements." I said handing the paper to Theodore, who got a face of intense happiness to hear this, but when he looked at the list, I swear, his smile was shining with excitement.
"WOAAAAH?!?! THIS IS INSANE!! And they're BROTHERS on top of that?!? I want to test them! Now! Especially this Quadra-Elemental!" Theodore said super excited.
"Q-Quadra-Elemental?! Are you crazy? Give me this!" Kai said pulling the paper out of our giant colleague's hands, I saw his smile turn into something super sinister, probably because his facial features are naturally sinister.
"Wow... This committee is going to be super interesting. It will be amazing to meet them..." Kai said, leaving the list on the table.
"I agree. Well, do you want to talk something before—" I was interrupted by another knock on the door, this time Kai went to open it for me and I ended up seeing two more people entering the main room next to him.
Next to Kai, I saw a boy with very long and blond hair, with pointed ears that betrayed the fact that he was an elf. The other boy had short black hair, with bangs covering his right eye, with the exposed eye having a very deep cyan colored iris.
"Hello!! It's an incredible honor to be here with you, my name is Feyrith Ivsaar III! I'm an underclass student." Said the blond elf, introducing himself.
"Yo, I'm a first year too. My name is Luz Leywin, it's a pleasure to be here." he said, noticing that I was there and smirking as he walked to the central table.
"Luz Leywin? Ohoho! So you're the one with the most developed mana core in the entire Committee?" our giant colleague said approaching him, it looked like he was going to do a handshake.
"Hmm...?" He looked confused and accepted the handshake.
I noticed a great force surrounding the two of them, while the ground under Luz's feet was being slightly deformed, as if his weight had increased a lot, but even so he didn't seem affected. Clearly, this was some gravity magic from Theodore.
"W-what?" Theodore said confused now.
"Are you trying to do something?" Luz smiled and let go of his hand.
"No big deal, you've put up with my magic quite a bit. My name is Theodore Maxwell, it's a pleasure to work with you in this group." He sat on the edge of the table.
"My name is Kai Crestless... And as for your doubt from what you heard our colleague saying, here it is." He would introduce himself to the two and take the list of members, handing it to Luz.
"Hm...." He read the list and made a super confused face. "Why are you listed as Metal Augmenter and not Earth, Deviant Metal, Argumenter?" when he asked Kai this, I also noticed that it was kind of weird, he was the only one that wasn't mentioned for the element, just his Deviant form.
"Oh, that's simple, for some reason I can't use earth magic, but metal magic is something I can do very well. Let's just say it's an anomaly." He said, smiling.
"And you're not a dwarf either. Does this have anything to do with this anomaly? Since in theory it's impossible for a human to have this deviant form?" Luz asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Hmmm??? But what about the boy listed as Elijah?" Kai said with a little laugh.
"Oh. This one I know, he's one of Darv's representatives, he's half dwarf, half human." Luz explained and laughed.
"So there's a chance that Kai's family had a dwarf at some point?" Theodore raised the theory.
"Hmmm... Honestly, I never thought of that." the Crestless boy said.
"Yeah, the world is crazy sometimes. Sorry for the question." Luz said giving Kai a light tap on the shoulder and then looked at me.
"Luz! I think people will like your idea." the elf said, and I got a little confused, and I wasn't the only one.
"Oh! Of course!" My mentor took a dimensional ring from his pocket and take something out, putting it on the table, it was a big tray with cupcakes on top.
"Oh, where did you buy it?" Theodore was picking one up and tasting it.
"I didn't buy it, I made them myself." Luz said giving me a smirk and I blushed.
Each of the members present took a cupcake, but I, I couldn't bear it and took two. Feyrith helped me get and make more coffee. It was already 6 am and all five of us were having our breakfast. Until someone else knocked on the door, Luz went to open the door and soon we saw that the people who arrived were Curtis and Kathyln Glayder.
"Good morning everyone! How are you?" Curtis said, with a mana beast walking beside him.
"Good morning...." Kathyln spoke, and strangely she was hugging Luz's left arm as if she was a mana beast hugging a tree.
"Good morning Princess Kathyln and Prince Curtis. Have you had breakfast yet?" I asked with a smirk, I already knew Curtis well enough to know that, since the creation of The Council, he hates being called a prince.
"Hm, yes, but a cupcake wouldn't be a bad thing." Curtis said snobbishly to tease me and then took a cupcake off the table, taking a bite.
"Thanks.... I'm not hungry." Kathyln said, still hugging my mentor, while he was leading her to the table so they could sit down.
"Really? It took me a long time to do it, at least taste it." He said.
"I'm hungry." Kathyln said in her completely neutral voice and advanced already putting a cupcake in her mouth, it was even cute.
"Heh. Light Yellow Boy, aren't you too close with the princess?" Theodore questioned, I was also curious.
"No big deal, it's just that there was a bizarre incident a few years ago and then I saved her and Curtis. Since then, I always interact with them whenever I can." my mentor said it simply while drinking a cup of coffee.
"Interesting, are you the bounty type?" Kai asked now.
"No, he is honorable." Unintentionally, Kathyln and I ended up saying the same thing, finally she expressed something, the princess had a super confused face.
"Ha! How cute! They spoke at the same time to describe me!" Luz had a few laughs saying that, and soon Curtis slapped the back of his head, but now it was the two of them who were laughing.
"One of my great rivals really has an incredible reputation for Honor! Perfect!" Feyrith spoke animatedly.
"Oh, great rival? Have you guys met before?" Curtis asked this time.
Luz didn't answer anything, just put a medal on the table, making some of the members look silly, while I didn't express so much for already knowing. It was a medal of elven royalty.
"You are in front of the first human with elven title. Hehehe" He gave a proud laugh and now relaxed in the chair, actually.... He tried to relax, because the way that Kathyln kept holding him was getting in the way a little.
We stayed talking a little longer, waiting for the others. When it was around 6:30 a.m., Doradrea arrived. She was already an acquaintance of mine and I introduced her to the others, she is a dwarf, tough, and who is similar to Theodore in the sense that they both think strong people are incredible, the difference is that Theodore looks at general strength, while Doradrea sees only the muscle strength as important. But it was fun to see that when she accepted to eat one of the cupcakes on the table, she went straight to get 3 more and go to one of the sofas to lie down.
I'm not the only one addicted to sweets, Uncle Kaspian.
Another 15 minutes went by, and finally the last two members arrived, one of them had dark hair, wore glasses that were stylized, but could be considered simple if I didn't look closely, and the other had beautiful brown hair, with a small ponytail, in addition to walking with a certain class. All of us, with the exception of Luz, looked at them a lot, or I could say we were looking at only one of them, the first and only Quadra Elemental that we knew existed.
"Good morning everyone! My name is Elijah Knight, nice to meet you!" Said the boy with the glasses, excited.
"Good morning everyone, my name is Arthur Leywin, I hope we can do great things together?" the boy, whom I knew as Note, was speaking.
No, I shouldn't consider him as Note anymore, now he's Arthur, just as I shouldn't consider Luz as Diamond. Now they are not adventurers, they are students and they are in one of the two elite groups of this school.
The two new members were being introduced to everyone else who was here and soon I noticed Theodore using gravity magic on Arthur, and the same thing happened when he did it before with Luz, it didn't seem like it had any effect. Feyrith, Curtis and Doradrea saw this and asked him to do it on them too. Feyrith fell to the ground instantly, Curtis took a few seconds to fall, and Dora managed to hold on, but unlike the Leywins, she expressed an effort to keep up.
"Enough of kidding with magic, people, let's get things straightened out. Today we're going to perform in the auditorium, so we can personally introduce our group. Does anyone of you want to give a speech, or will I, as temporary leader, do this job?" I caught their attention while I was opening the package, there seemed to be some daggers, but something caught my attention, one of the daggers was connected to a shield, while another was connected to a piece of arm equipment, made of leather.
No one answered what I asked, but Luz held up his hand. "Maybe I can, since I had a fight yesterday and I kind of disciplined the guy without being in the group." This made everyone laugh as I handed over those items to the designated people.
"Okay, you can reinforce the points you see I miss during my speech." I spoke looking at my mentor as I handed him that shield, I handed the leather arm piece for Arthur as well.
"Huh? Why do you have different things?" Elijah asked looking at Arthur and Luz, and they both looked confused not knowing why they got that too.
"Okay guys, you all received these daggers, and in the case of Arthur and Luz, you received the daggers along with stylized supports for them. They work as a blade and as a communication artifact. When someone is in trouble, the dagger gems of all other members, will glow a specific color." I said, now taking the list.
"The colors are, Gray for Arthur, Pink for me, Red for Curtis, Dark Red for Doradrae, Orange for Elijah, Green for Feyrith, Silver for Kai, Yellow for Theodore, Blue for Kathyln and Black for Luz. Any questions?" I said what was on the list and looked around everyone, Arthur raised his hand.
"How are we going to differentiate when Kai and I need help? Won't gray and silver be a little similar?" he asked.
"Turn it on so we can see the difference, Art." Luz spoke.
Therefore, Arthur activated his first and then Kai activated his. The differences between gray and silver were quite distinct, as silver was closer to white than gray.
"Great, does anyone else have any doubts?" I asked and no one seemed to want to talk. "Okay, let's go downstairs to meet the Student Council, and we'll go with them to the auditorium."
"AYE!" Everyone nodded and stood up as I walked out of our main room.
We went to meet with the student council and from there, as I expected, we went straight to the auditorium, we could see some students starting to arrive in the audience, while we were all behind the curtains. Luz, Curtis and President Tessia seemed to sense my anxiety and were trying to calm me down.
It was even interesting to see how the people from the student council and disciplinary committee interacted with each other, but the person who had the most reactions were Luz and Arthur. They both seemed to know the Student Council President, Tessia and the secretary Lilia very well. I was quite curious, but decided that I would wait until some free time to ask these questions.
As the intros began, Tessia and the rest of the student council took to the stage, they seemed to reinforce a bit what was said on the first day, along with important notices such as the existence of extra clubs that students could have if they weren't full of classes. When she commented on this, I was reminded of the club I was at last year, it's a shame that with my job of being in the disciplinary committee, I may not have time for those clubs.
"Before the club rush commences, the student council would like to formally introduce to you, the students of this academy, a group that was personally picked by the director in hopes to resolve and prevent disputes amongst students as well as enforce penalizing measures for troublemakers. While the student council's main job is to help the director make sure this academy and the events held run smoothly, this group's job allows them to use magic appropriately to uphold the peace and safety of students, whether against other students or trespassers. Please join me in welcoming the disciplinary committee!" Princess Tessia's voice rang at her last words.
The auditorium filled with applause as the red curtains we stood behind were raised. We stood there, shoulders square and hands glued to our sides. I had to admit, the fact that Curtis was with his mana beast, the world lion Grawder, behind him, made us look cooler than what I was expecting.
As we stood in front of the students of Xyrus on the stage, side by side, we pulled out our daggers and held them out in front of us so the insignia in them was showed. I could see a little of Luz and Arthur, they were directly beside me, the way they put out their daggers for their costumized glove and shield, made them look more as the Elite part inside the committee. Unsheathing our daggers, I started to give my speech.
"Hello, my dear colleagues at this amazing school! I, Claire Bladeheart, am here to let you know that, our committee will not be easy on anyone who decides to disturb or cause trouble. Here, in our view, you are neither famous nobles nor unknown nobles. Here, we are all students, we are all in the same boat. So that there are no misinterpretations coming from our way of seeing situations, we have in our group, humans, dwarves and elves, in addition to two incredible students, who are commoners, but even so, they got a spot in this beautiful school, for working hard and demonstrating exactly what this disciplinary committee represents: effort, trust, loyalty, honor and above all, an open mind to new ideas. I'd like to introduce you to these students who will be the vice-capitains of the committee, both brothers, Luz and Arthur Leywin!"
A lot of applause started to rise as the two boys looked at me super confused, I hadn't spoken to them, but as a temporary leader, I was already seeing both of them as possibilities to replace me or to be my assistants, since I knew what they are capable of, I knew about them being adventurers. I took a step back and the two boys took a step forward.
"I honestly found it quite surprising what our friend Claire Bladeheart did. I wasn't expecting that we would be called to this speech." Luz made the comment, causing some students to laugh, the situation really was a bit comical.
Arthur made a move for them to stop laughing and then Luz continued talking. "My brother has no words at the moment to say, for not having rehearsed, but I would like to speak and reinforce a few things. My dear colleagues and veterans, we went through a lot of trouble to get here today, we gave our sweat and blood to be able to go up, I know what it's like to be betrayed, I know what it's like to be loved, and I know what it's like to have life and death problems, and in my thirteen years of life, I know how the relationships between races are extremely complicated, especially in the present times, when we will now have all three races, united in this amazing school. My colleague, Claire, introduced me as a commoner, but I think that some students here, more specifically the Elves, know very well my current situation. I, Luz Leywin, am the first human to receive a title as a noble and royal knight of the elven realm, and I achieved this by doing incredible deeds for the Kingdom of Elenoir, along with my brother. While he politely declined this offer, I accepted it as something that I honestly would view as an affront to the awesome kings of Elenoir and parents of our adorable student council president." Some students started to applaud, especially the elves, who even stood up to clap their hands.
Arthur again made a motion with his hand for everyone to be quiet, and Luz continued talking. "In a period like this, I see myself as an example of unity between races that have recently gone to war with each other. I may be a human, but I'm here to be one of the individuals to represent all my fellow elves, who start studying this year in Xyrus! And that said, I would like to comment on reports against other students, if you, elf, dwarf, human, student of this magnificent place, have a report to give about people causing problems, disturbing order, or whatever. Don't be afraid to reach out to us to comment, we of the disciplinary committee, will listen. If you don't find us in the halls of the academy, you can also look for student council members, they will redirect these reports for us, whenever possible. And don't be afraid to interact with us during classes or when you see us walking in the campus, just like you, we are students. I hope this year is a great start, no only for this committee that was created to protect, but for all the new students that are coming to our school. Thank you, and have a nice day."
The audience went wild with several students clapping again with his words, we all bowed as the curtains went down and hid us. Lilia gave Luz a little punch on the shoulder and Tessia walked towards him too.
"It was a nice speech, you know?" the elven princess said smiling.
"Oho! Thanks, that was the best I could think of, since a certain girl didn't tell me she was going to do this." He looked at me with a neutral face.
"Heh, what's up? You were good, weren't you?" I said while chuckling.
"Well...yes, but you've drawn a lot of attention to us for being the only commoners here." Arthur soon retorted.
"At least Luz used the fact that Claire commented on it for him to comment on his title to support the fact that we are a group that listens to everyone, regardless of race and background." Curtis said caressing Grawder's fur.
"Fine. But I think you, first-years, have classes now, don't you?" Theodore raised this point.
"Okay, me, Luz and Art have the same class now, so let's get going. See you later." Elijah said as the other two walked with him.
"See you later!" I waved at the trio that had always been together since their adventurer careers.
"So are you going to do anything else?" Tessia Eralith asked me, after all she and I were the leaders of our respective groups.
"Well, I'm thinking about starting to make a list in relation to the routine in which we will have to watch. Due to the function of our group, we always have to have someone watching the corridors, don't we?" I spoke, giving her a smile.
"Oh, I understand, if you need any help, just let us know, I think Fable is the type who loves to walk around." When she said that, the PR director, Fable Kristwood, would complain, as if it were a lie, but the way the other members of the student council looked at him showed that Tessia was being honest about the comment.
"No need to worry, we'll see what we can." Curtis said smiling and then looked at Feyrith, Kathyln and Doradrae. "Hey, don't you guys have class now too?"
"Oh Right! We'll meet you later. I think Kathyln and I have the same class right now, don't you?" Feyrith spoke.
"Basic Element Studies I?" Kathyln asked.
"Yep, this one, so let's go together." Feyrith said as she led Kathyln out of the auditorium, Doradrae followed them, not to mention which class she would have now.
"See you around guys, I'll walk around for a bit." I was waving to the student council members, leaving the auditorium and going looking for Luz and Arthur, but as they left well before us and didn't say what class they were going to have, I was a little lost.
"Ouch... I hope they don't find Lucas in the hallways." I thought with a big sigh as I adjusted my dagger and started to walk confidently, I was the leader of the committee, I can't show weakness.
