I look at the king, and the little respect I have is now gone. The king is tall, around one hundred and eighty centimeters tall. However, because of his bulging stomach, he looks short and chubbier. He is not fat, not too fat. I think it is because of excessive alcohol consumption that makes him look fat.
Shame. A king needs to watch his appearance because he is the head of a nation. Image is important for diplomacy. At least that's what my father told me.
"Welcome! Welcome to the feast, honored guests! We, King Hernandes Murian Thomas Gipan, welcome you to this feast!"
What with that name? Hernandes Murian Thomas Gipan… How many first names do you need in your name?! Also, this is my first time hearing someone use the royal plural in real life. I saw it on TV and the internet in my previous life but not hearing it directly.
"Today's feast is for our beloved brother from the south!"
I can hear people clapping politely at that word. However, I can also hear someone whispering something rude, like how I don't deserve this and how barbarians should stay in the South and never touch the ground they stand on.
Just long the stick that stuck up their butthole? A kilometer? Maybe a little bit more. I look at Jullian and shake my head a little when I see him ready to punch the one whispering that.
"Gwyndolin Alexander Cunnigham! The heir of the Cunningham family! The healer of the Black Death! And the Savior of the Luzia Kingdom! Three cheers for the young savior!"
People start to cheer for me, with Jullian being the loudest. I can feel my entire body heat in embarrassment. I'm not used to this much attention. Also, stop being smug, Jullian.
"For his action and contribution to spreading the good name of the Gipan Kingdom, We grant him the title of Grandmaster of the Gipand Kingdom! He shall be known as Grandmaster of Medicine Gwyndolin from now on!"
I blink for a few seconds at that title. That is not a bad title, to be honest. Grandmaster is a title given to a group of individuals. They are persons that reach a height that no other can reach in a certain profession. Five titles are still alive, including mine, in this Kingdom. The first one is the holder of the title Grandmaster of Healing. The second one is Grandmaster of Curse. The third one is the Grandmaster of Alchemist. The fourth one is Grandmaster of Magic. The fifth one is mine, the Grandmaster of Medicine.
As much as I hate to admit it, I feel honored by the title, and I can see the smug Jullian get even smugger than before.
"Come, Gwyndolin! Let's begin the ceremony!"
I snap from my thoughts and quickly make sure I'm presentable. I take a deep breath and walk to the podium. I smile at the king and see him nod with a big smile on his face. He looks back, and his guard presents him with a beautiful sword. The king takes it and says.
"Kneel"
I kneel in front of him and make sure my head is down. A second later, I can feel the sword on my left shoulder.
"We, King Hernandes Murian Thomas Gipan of the Gipan Kingdom, declare that the individual named Gwyndolin Alexander Cunnigham shall receive the title of Grandmaster! Let his name be known throughout the kingdom, and his deed remembered for eternity! Let his deeds become the beacon for the next generation and lead our kingdom to its eternal prosperity!"
The king put his sword on my right shoulder and my head throughout his speech. After that, I slowly get up and see two people already waiting for me while holding a crown holder, but instead of a crown, I can see a medal on it.
The king takes the medal and puts it on my clothes. After that, he takes the sword that looks like it cannot slice tofu and gives it to me.
"Let this medal and sword be the proof of your deeds. I shall give you a piece of land north of Cunningham County alongside the title. Let it be known that land shall be yours and your family's land from now on."
I bow and say.
"Thank you for this honor, Your Highness. I shall not disappoint you."
"Hahahaha! I know you won't!"
After saying that, he takes a glass of wine and raises it high.
"Let the party begin!"

|Hernandes Murian Thomas Gipan - King of the Gipan Kingdom|
I release a tired sigh and sit on the couch of my office. Today is a tiring day.
*Knock* Knock*
"Come in"
When the door opens up, I can see Arthur Keegan Verqur walk inside my office. He is the head of the Verqur family and the Duke of Verqur Duchy. He is one of my advisors and my best and oldest friend.
"Good work."
He smiles and sits in front of me.
"Yeah. Yeah. How is the investigation?"
"Slow. However, I managed to get some leads."
He placed a stack of paper on the table. I take one and start reading.
"We did not get much, but I figured out who switched your letter with the fake one and even caught the culprit."
I frown a little and say.
"This paper did not say how someone could forge my handwriting and the royal family stamp. That thing is enchanted so that no one can forge it."
"That is why I said that the investigation is slow. The prisoner has poison undead on his tongue that he eats to kill himself."
"Damnit!"
I know the North hates the South, but I don't think it was this much. To the point that they switched the letter that I sent to try to mend the relationship between the North and the South. I cannot let this hatred go any longer.
I know that people think of me as a gullible king they can manipulate, but it was an image I cultivated throughout my reign. Slowly but surely, I had already cut down the nobles' power in the capital city without them noticing.
Arthur and his army of spies and assassins will deal with the one who notices it.
"How about your son Jonathan? He and his little girlfriend are investigating on their own, right? What did they find?"
Jonathan and Catharina are snooping around the city, thinking they are doing it secretly so anyone will not notice them. That is a cute attempt. However, I decided to let them do it if only they could find something useful.
"They found something, your highness. Not in the north but in the south."
"Oh? Tell me."
"Have you heard of the fall of the Alcott family?"
"A series of unfortunate accidents that made their family extinct, yes. That is also the reason why I give the Cunningham family that piece of land."
"Jonathan and Catharina found something interesting."
Arthur gives me a stack of paper.
"This evidence shows that the Alcott family sabotages the South. Not only that, but they are also the ones bribing the previous royal family to make that stupid rule."
"Yeah, I already know it. Tell me something I don't know."
"What I want to say is how they died. Someone wants them dead, and they arrange it."
"And yes, I already know about it."
"Let me finish, or I will slap you. Where was I? Oh, right. They are assassinated, and we find a lead to who is the one killing them. Jonathan and Catharina found these things."
I look at them and frown a little.
"Doesn't that…"
"Yeah."
"Dammit! This gets even more complicated. Fuck it. You take care of this, and I will try to mend the relationship between the North and the South. I hear the southern kingdom start creating a weird movement."
I drink the tea and release a tired sigh.
"At least we get some kind of trust from the Cunningham family by giving them that title. Also, because of his title, he cannot reject me from buying his potions."
"Yes, that is rather genius of you. Because of his title as Grandmaster, you can buy his potions, and he cannot reject you, but the other noble is a different matter. The Cunningham family can reject them and even ban them if they are annoying enough."
"Yup. I also can start filtering which noble house disregards my word and harasses the South. Now… help me think of a way to ensure our relationship with the South stays at least bearable."
Arthur looks at me and says.
"I hear that your daughter, Bernadette, makes a great first impression."
I look at him for a few seconds and sigh.
"Spill it."
Arthur's smile gets even bigger. I hate politics! I only want to drink and fuck my beautiful wife all night! Is that so hard?!
