Capítulo 31: Claw Back (I)
Pain was the only thing I could feel, at least for a few moments before everything went blank…
I don't know how much time passed since the explosion, but now the only thing I could feel was everything was numb. I felt like I was floating in shape… Did I die again? I remember climbing out of the car and then the world started to spin around me before everything around me exploded. After that, the only thing I remember was pain.
I no longer felt any pain, but I would have preferred pain over this nothingness… Maybe, I did die and maybe, this is what the afterlife felt like… And now that I was probably dead again, I realized that I shouldn't have been so arrogant. I thought with my powers I couldn't die, but I was wrong. My powers simply made it harder to kill me.
Then all of a sudden, mind-blinding pain coursed through my whole body, breaking me out of my morbid thoughts. I felt like all of my nerves had been set on fire and once again, my mind completely blanked due to the pain… However, I realized that pain was good. Pain was much better than the nothingness.
And more than anything else, pain meant I was still alive…
Then all of a sudden, I started to hear some voices, but I couldn't make anything out of it. I tried to open my eyes, but much to my horror I realized that I couldn't even feel my face. The next thing I tried to do was to move, but the thing I could feel was my right hand, but calling it a hand would be an exaggeration as I could barely feel my right arm.
"...man. What are we doing again?"
"We are looking for the body"
"Do you think there is still a body after Goto torched the place?"
"I have heard the kid is resilient"
The voices were much clearer now… They must have set a trap for me, kind of obvious I suppose and Ito also played a part in it either willingly or unwillingly. Does it really matter? He betrayed me and that's the end of it, but killing him would be such a waste. I didn't want to lose my cash cow, but could I let him live knowing that he had betrayed me once?
The answer was a big fat NO!! He might have had his reasons, but his reasons were none of my business…
"Fuck!!"
One of the men looking for me, hissed loudly. He must have touched something hot by mistake and I would have laughed at him if I could laugh. However, I needed to get out of here before I could think of revenge. From their voices, I could tell that they were not anywhere close to me, at least not yet. Thankfully, I was still healing at a rapid pace.
Now, I could feel all of my right arm along with some part of my left arm… The pain was still there, but it was much more bearable than before. For a moment, I wondered if I should try to crawl away, but after thinking for a moment, I gave up on the idea. I didn't know what kind of position I was in so moving might give away my position.
I decided not to move until I could see again…
I tensed for a moment when I heard them getting close to me, but I sighed in relief when they moved away. After almost half a minute, I could see again… I slowly opened my eyes and tried to look around. A small smile bloomed on my face when I realized that I had made the right call by not trying to move as there was a wall on top of me, and the wall was a pretty good cover.
Now that I knew that I was not in any immediate danger, I decided to inspect my body, which was kind of hard since I was buried under the wall. However, I could move around my hands. My right hand was completely healed while my left hand was still healing… I grimaced a bit when I saw the condition of my left hand and now I was afraid to see the condition of the rest of my body.
At least, I was alive…
"That's not him"
I heard one of the men looking for me call out and I realized that there were more than two people looking for me since this was a completely new voice. I growled internally as I heard approaching me… Lang Min (if that was his name in the first place) must have decided to cut his losses when he realized his goon was dead and I was coming for him.
He must have been desperate enough to overlook the collateral damage before he blew up the place and must have had more goons working under him than Ito told me, or he might have hired some other gang to get rid of me. According to Ito, Lang Min was in the loan business, which meant money was not a problem for him.
"Move that wall"
Someone ordered and I stiffened… Thankfully, I could feel my legs again even though there was no room for me to move my legs to see if they were in working condition or not. I heard a couple of people approach my location and I got ready to make my move. My left hand was completely healed, which was a good thing since I was certain that they were going to find me.
I moved around my hands, trying to find something, anything I could use as a weapon and found myself a piece of some metal… The thing didn't have any edge or weight to it, but it was fine… I was strong enough to stab a person with a butter knife and this was much sharper than a butter knife. I decided to wait patiently for them to move the wall from on top of me.
I felt the weight disappear from on top of me and one of the men cheered…
"He is here!" The man exclaimed, without bothering to check if I had any weapon, a mistake he was never going to repeat, since I was going to kill him right here.
I grabbed his head with my left hand and stabbed him through the chin while looking straight into his eyes and his buddy simply stared at us with a dumbfounded look on his face, but before he could do anything, my hands were already snaking around his neck…
