Ryan raised an eyebrow while looking at the deadpanned young man in his arms. For someone who was asking to get laid, he looked like a fish on a cutting plate. Terrified and reluctant. And funnily, determined.

"No," Ryan said. "Just your blood."

"Why not?" Aiden demanded to know.

Ryan sighed.

"You should do it with someone you love," the vampire reasoned.

It made sense, of course, but Aiden had never heard crueler words coming out of Ryan's mouth.

Aiden bit into his lips to prevent the tears in his eyes from spilling.

He knew it.

He knew it, but it still hurt.

It turned out that what he dreaded months ago was accurate. When Ryan said that he liked Aiden, his feelings did not reach the level of "love". Ryan liked him like he liked so many other human beings who sold their blood to him, maybe. Did Ryan not say that Aiden's blood was exquisite?
