"Uhh?" Kristen asked once the story was over, unable to form another word.
"Unbelievable, right? It would be for any human." The old lady smiled fondly as she remembered her son.
"N-no, but why did you choose the Devil? It was that easy to keep closed eyes on god with just one deal?"
She didn't know if the lady was joking around because who can casually talk about Devil with no fear? Like how can a human adopt Devil as their own son? If there was no hidden agenda behind it, was Devil such a soft-hearted person to go for adoption? Kristen wanted to laugh it off but the old lady's face showed so much sincerity that she had to believe every words.
"God never listens, dear. I am still a devotee but sometimes to get what you desperately want, you have to make compromises." She explained.
"I can say it didn't even feel like a deal to us. He just gave us a family, a very loving and dependable one. I had forever be thankful to him." She continued.
"H-how did your husband die?' Kristen asked a little worried as she was still not convinced.
"He died of a heart attack. Old people." She laughed a little before continuing."He asked for Lucy before his death, not even me or our son."
"Hmm. I am sorry."
"It is fine, I just wanted to let you know that help can come from anyway and all you have to do is give it a chance."
"H-he is still with you?" She asked suddenly remembering that was the only reason for her to be on Earth.
How easy would it be if he is still around her? Kristen knew that she had to keep an eye on the lady so she just brushed her hands against the other's cold ones. Now she can keep an eye on her, perks of being an Angel.
"I wish, but not anymore. He had to leave a few months ago."
"Where to? When will he come back?" Kristen asked, her hands fidgeting as her curiosity hit the spot.
"To hell, where else can he go? There were some issues happening back then and he left saying he had come back for me."
"Jerk, went back to ruin my wedding." Kristen cursed under her breath which the old woman couldn't hear.
"He will surely return for me."
"How sure are you? He didn't mention when he had come back?" She asked again knowing the devil was still roaming on earth.
"Very soon. I just have to trust him."
"I t-think it is the best to move on without keeping much hope. Celestial beings cannot always keep words." She warned knowing the man was probably ruining some part of the world.
"He is my son, he would not lie to me. I know him well enough to trust him. People who have not been with him, just judge him. The name Devil itself is enough for that, right?"
She must have got that a lot, that is what Kristen thought. She kind of felt a little bad because the first person who kindly spoke to her would not be able to meet her son. Kristen just had three months to end him and that would be the end of the old lady's endless hope. She cannot be weak and fall for emotions but since the time she visited Earth everyone was against God, it felt as if she ended up in hell.
Even Christian didn't seem to be happy about anything even though he act cool as if everything is fine. She could see the struggles he had and how he uses every single chance to escape. Maybe the main reason, he begs her to allow him to help her. How can everything be so messed up?
"I hope y-you meet him." She said with a pressed lip before getting up.
"I surely will, but I think you should leave now. It is too late." The old lady also said as she wiped the tears which slowly rolled down her wrinkled skin.
"You too." Kristen said when someone suddenly ran to them.
"I asked you not to go this far. You almost scared me." Christian spoke as he held her hands and checking if she was fine.
"Geeez, you scared me now. Except for that, I am totally fine."
"So is he your friend?" The lady asked with a curious smile.
"Uh, y-yea. Christian, this is Mrs.Hwang and we were just talking about random things." She awkwardly introduced him.
"Oh, Hello! My name is Christian and nice to meet you." He bowed politely with a sweet smile.
"Omo, you look like an angel." She gasped, his aura literally spreading irrespective of the fact he was drunk.
"Yeah, I guess the Angels on Earth roam around shirtless and totally drunk with love bites." Kristen scoffed, pushing the boy a little away from her.
"Still I look absolutely adorable. Isn't that right, Mrs. Hwang?" He snickered, nudging her shoulder playfully.
"I think we should leave before he passes out."
"Hope to see you someday so I can introduce you to my son. Take care you both." She caressed their hair, as a way of giving a blessing before climbing back the stairs.
"Marriage proposal?" Christian asked while croaking his eyebrows.
"Yea sure, very funny but let's laugh later. Can we please leave now?" She asked.
"Sorry not sorry but I am too drunk to drive so can we stay here for the night? It's just a few hours anyways."
"No w...."
"I booked two rooms for us so let's just sleep. I promise to take you back when I am in my senses. It is dangerous to drive like this." He cut her off in between.
"This is not fair. How can you get drunk like this?" She scolded him.
"See, I am really sorry and please don't tell this to anyone. I promise to do whatever you want, please. I didn't mean to get this drunk but i-it happened." He explained again knowing he would be done for life if someone knows about it.
"You owe me a big time for always favoring you."
"I know, my angel!"
Well, she can't lie that his lathering words were not affecting her. She was amazed at how cute he could be irrespective of the looks that he owns. He had a very defined body worth worshipping, a beautifully carved face, and the sweetest smile. Kristen mentally slapped herself for having such thoughts before following the boy to their respective room.
"Christian, wake up!" Kristen was banging on the door of the boy who was dead asleep.
"Open the damn door, boy or I am snitching on you. Later don't come crying to me."
Kristen was trying to sleep but the people staying next to her room had no calm. The loud erotic noises were ringing in her ears and she wanted to throw up. She tried covering the blanket over her head, closing her ears and even banging her hand back on the wall to warn them but everything was in vain. She wondered how the humans work all the time but this time, she gave up on her thoughts.
"OPEN UP!!! IDIOTTT, I AM GOING TO LEAVE YOU HERE." She shouted for one last time, clearly knowing the boy had passed out and would never wake up.
"Wowowow! What is happening?" A voice popped up again, scaring the life out of her.
"AGHHH! What is with you all scaring me all the time?" She asked, hitting the man in his chest with all her might.
"OH gosh, that hurts like hell." he cursed holding his chest.
"U-uh, I am s-sorry." Kristen tensed up knowing her powers are unbearable to humans.
She thought he probably broke his ribs.
"What are your hands made of? Iron? This would be one of the most painful hits ever, even Selene wouldn't stand this." He complained while rubbing his chest and wide eyes.
"I said, I am sorry. I am just built a little differently." She tried to play cool but her stares were still on his chest.
"Stop staring or you would have to give me a full course massage." He chuckled, noticing she was getting tensed.
"A-as if I would."
"So you are not denying that you were staring?" He asked playfully earning a groan from her.
Why was he always smooth with words?
"Whatever."
"By the way, what are you doing here at this time? Why are you breaking the door?" He asked, peeking over her to the door.
"Hmm, n-nothing. I am j-just k-knocking."
"You almost broke the door and with this fist of your's I wonder how it still didn't break open." He sarcastically scoffed.
"Okay, the neighbors are so loud and I am unable to sleep. So basically, I am trying to wake my friend up so that I can share the room or more like kick him to my room." She said in one breath without looking at the man.
"Chill chill, which is your room? Maybe, I can try asking your neighbor to calm down." Lucifer suggested while she quickly pointed to her room.
All she wanted was a good night's sleep even though it was nearly morning.
"Oops! Sorry to say but it seems impossible." He answered with a small wave of helplessness in his honey-dripped voice.
"Why? You didn't even try for that?"
"That is my friend, Selene and I know she had be very loud. The reason why I took a room, at the farthest corner away from her." He laughed hysterically.
"Dude, if it is your friend, you should make her stop for heaven's sake." Kristen groaned as she pulled him to the door.
"Miss, she wouldn't listen to me and if I step in now, I would have to see her getting laid."
"I want to sleep tho. You better control her or I am complaining." Kristen demanded, her hands crossed over her chest.
"I am sorry for the misfortune but I didn't recommend that room for you. And yes, I am afraid that complaining wouldn't help. She must have paid extra for this or she could even be sleeping with the owner of this hotel." He passed a pressed smile and all she could do was scream.
"CALM! You are gonna wake up the entire hotel." He said quickly covering her mouth with his hands.
"Ahdhmmnmhhkkdlaghe."
"Okay, that totally made sense." He rolled her eyes while pulling her to his room quickly.
He pulled her close to him and took out the key from his jeans pocket, opening the door somehow as she was just wiggling in his grip like a fish out of water. He kicked open the door and dragged her inside and shut the door behind. Kristen took the little distraction into consideration and bit his fingers.
"Ouch." He squealed before letting go of her and shaking his hands in shock.
"W-what are you doing?" She asked, trying to control her breath.
"I just didn't want to get embarrassed there. I visit here regularly, you know? I am sorry to say but sometimes you behave like you are not from this world which is very concerning." He continued while inspecting the bite mark on his hand.
"I am from heaven."
"Well, suits you. I am from hell and we would definitely make a good combo." He laughed it off.
.
.
.
"This is so annoying. I will kill him tomorrow." Kristen mumbled while rolling on the bed as the man was smoking by the balcony.
"You said you wanted to sleep, now what are you doing?" Lucifer asked as he threw the cigarette down the balcony once it was over.
"D-do you really expect me to sleep when a man is watching me?"
"It is me, Lucifer and you know that I wouldn't even spare a glance at you. I have a girl for myself." He stated, well... he already said this a dozen times in the past hour.
"I do not believe any man with this."
"Then stay awake. Miss, I am sacrificing my own sleep for your comfort, and it seems disrespectful to see you still blaming me for no reason. I am not a human to break words."
"Okay, Devil in disguise." She mocked him, the word was giving her chills every time.
"I actually look like this in hell too, maybe a little more hot."
"I am going to sleep anyways, don't even think about looking because my kick hurts more than that hit."
"I know that women have higher lower body strength for certain reasons." He mumbled, before frowning at the figure on his bed, completely covered in a thick comforter.
