Evan was not surprised because wind manipulation is a powerful skill.

Even though wind manipulation is a powerful skill the reason he was stunned was completely different.

Up until now, after absorbing cores Evan received skills like, ice chains, shadow bullet, haste etc.

But all of these skills are normal skills.

When someone awakens as a hunter he will get a skill, like how he got his shadow walk when he was awakened.

But no one can awaken skills like wind manipulation, earth manipulation, fire manipulation, or other similar skills.
