What Tanya had done was show her way of investing into Brick first so she became the one with the biggest say towards any future directions the group should take.
If her investment worked out then it would be her with the power and it would be her who would handle the negotiations with her father.
It put her in a position where she had power and authority to speak with her father as an equal or superior position depending on how successful her investment came to be.
She would have her own people deeply integrated with Brick's group and would have an opportunity for those under her to train under the direction of Brick and to gain experience.
Tanya knew that the next steps that would follow would be her father keeping her from taking any direct actions herself.
Most contact with Brick would be cut off and only when he established himself enough would he be able to make contact with her again.
She vowed in her heart that she would get stronger for when that time came and she would secretly build up her fire power using what Brick had provided.
Tanya just hoped that Brick would succeed quickly so she would not have to wait too long.
Only then would she have any kind of say within the family.
If anything had been proven during the talks it was that a lot of what Brick had said had been correct.
Her father was too inflexible and set in his ways to be able to adjust to the current situation.
Seeing her own father ignore such good ideas that could aid him just because of how he viewed others was one major thing that made her wake up and realise how foolish her father really was.
Another part of her realised that her father was most likely going to make use of any knowledge provided for his own purposes even if he did not express any interest towards her or Brick's proposals.
That was just the type of man and businessman that he was.
If he could cut corners and take from others without there being a way to get caught out for it then he would do it.
It was similar to how her cousin Lucy had been cheated out of her entire inheritance and the family businesses.
Her father was usually spineless in front of power and sucked up to them but when he saw others as weak, he would not hesitate to exploit and cheat them for his own benefit.
It made her realise that her own father viewed her as someone weak too who could be taken advantage of.
A look of disdain appeared on her face as she had closed the door behind her.
She entered a room full of pink and many princess-like decorations while looking towards everything around her with a cold gaze. "So this will be my prison.. hurry Brick. I cannot keep going on like this as the pretty doll of the family."
The backpack she was wearing had been taken off and unzipped revealing many bottles of water and wrapped sweets like lollies and hard candies. "Now I just need to keep this hidden from father."
There was no way she intended to share with her father or any of his people after what had happened.
Even if it meant letting her father not have a means of growing his own power quickly, Tanya was prepared to let him remain in such a state so that she could grow to the point that her own power would be enough to cause others to be placed under her even if it was her own father.
Meanwhile Brick had been escorted outside the home of Tanya and walked back towards the outer area.
He couldn't help but feel that the many written parts of the novel about Shane simply was not enough to explain how troublesome he really was.
Brick had a headache coming on from just one time sitting opposite the man but he was relieved to get even a little bit of what he wished for.
He knew that staying by the side of Tanya would be difficult in the beginning of the apocalypse.
Bringing her into numerous dangers was already too risky so she was safer in a location that was known to be safe for some time.
The main concern was to address many security problems and to prevent any other mishaps in between the present and their next meeting.
After that was done, he needed to sort out who would be worth trusting enough to pull into the group he was forming.
He made his way past the gate and got closer to his own house where he was greeted by several familiar faces.
A small girl accompanied by a young man and woman had stood outside of his home as if they had been waiting for his return.
