Selene wheels around to find Robbin standing behind them. He has a look of shock on his own face that mirrors her own.
“What are you doing here?” he asks Selene, obviously stunned by her presence in the village.
Selene puts her hand over her chest and takes a deep breath. People need to stop sneaking up on her. “It’s a long story,” she replies. “If you’re here, does that mean Onyx is with you?” she adds hopefully.
“No. I left the two of you in the North the morning after Onyx and I met in your room. I requested the guard give him a message that I was heading out early the next morning to return to the South. I didn’t want him to feel rushed to get back here, and I figured Tobin could use some help,” Robbin explains quickly.
“Not to change the subject, but what did you mean by Witches used to live here?” Tom asks.
Selene can tell he’s far more interested in Robbin’s knowledge of the marks over having to hear her kidnapping story again.
