Selene gives Sparrow a worried look and picks up her pace, trying to catch up to Onyx.
“Hey,” she chirps.
He doesn’t answer her and keeps trotting along at a good pace.
Selene gulps down her pride. “So, Sparrow may have just mentioned to me that I messed up.”
Onyx still doesn’t say anything, but he does slow down a little.
“I wasn’t trying to defy you,” Selene explains. “I just didn’t want you to hurt a shifter on my account. I overreacted when I told you I was in trouble. Truth is, I was just really scared.”
He may not be talking to her, but Selene can feel his emotions shifting from anger to frustration.
“Come on,” she begs. “I really don’t want you to be mad at me. I said I was sorry, and from now on I’ll privately talk with you instead of just jumping in.”
Onyx stops walking and sits down. Selene follows suit and sits down in front of him. He scoots forward until Selene can rest her head under his muzzle on his chest.
