Ken and Kevin rushed in, their eyes widening when they saw the ring on my finger.
Ken squealed in delight. "Yay, Mom and Dad are getting married! Finally!" he said.
"Congrats, when's the wedding?" asked Kevin, who seemed almost as excited as Ken.
I felt speechless. I wanted to be happy and excited, but I couldn't find the words. Ellis answered for me.
"I think two months will be a good time, just enough time to get everything ready."
The words hung in the air, and I felt a weight descend in my stomach. Could I really get ready in that short of a time to do something so big and life-changing? Could I forgive Ellis for all the lies? I would need to seriously think this over.
Ellis seemed to understand, and he lightly touched my arm.
"It's okay," he said quietly. "You don't have to decide right now. Take your time and think it over."
