“Who are you?!” I screamed, hitting at this nut job’s chest as he tried to pull me closer.
“You don’t know anything about Bethany and me!”
“She’s never mentioned me?” he asked. That was enough of a shock to get him to let me go. I pushed him away and took a few steps back.
“No,” I snapped. I wiped his spit off my face and looked towards the entrance of the alley. But, it was no use. He would stop me in a second if I tried to run.
“I’m Claude, you know, Bethany’s sweetheart. She’s really never mentioned me?” he asked again. His face screwed up in confusion. It was like his brain couldn’t comprehend that Bethany wouldn’t tell the world about him.
“Sorry, but my sister has definitely been giving you the wrong idea,” I scoffed.
Claude recovered quickly at the thought of being played for a fool. He raised his hand and struck me hard on the face. “Don’t you ever speak about Bethany like that!”
I reeled back, covering my stinging cheek with my hand.
