Capítulo 15: Chapter 15:
There wasn't really a way to describe the feeling, but uncomfortable and strange was the closest description. Not that there was a reason to, because I was sitting in the most luxurious airplane seats ever. My muscles felt tingly and irritated, and it was as if there was a giant bubble inside of my stomach that kept swelling.
I should've felt relief, but my mind kept wandering. All I could think of was Lena in this moment. Not even Dinah, Normani or my other friends crossed my mind for more than a minute. All I could think of was Lena. Would I ever see her again? Did I want to? But why? I was fleeing with Lauren after all. Though I wasn't sure if it was the right decision at this moment.
It took a long time to get there but after a long time and our flight finally arrived. I was woken up by Lauren. Apparently I had fallen asleep on her shoulder. Lauren had been busy the whole flight, arranging everything for our stay. She wanted to make sure we were safe, and definitely not followed. I even got my own bodyguards, including the woman with the bob haircut I had spoken to before. I learned her name was Evelyn.
"I've got a place here in Oxford." Lauren explained. "We can rest there for today, but before we leave the airport you need to wear disguise. Normally everything is safe, but we can't be too careful."
We were led off the plane by more of Lauren's personnel. Outside a subtle but still expensive looking car took us to Lauren's place. It was a beautiful place.
As we went inside into the hallway. I felt a sudden surge of panic. I saw red. What if Lauren was out to get me? What if she was just like Lena? I felt an enormous wave of pain wash over me, I caught a glimpse of myself in a mirror. My eyes. Not again...
"Are you ok?"I heard Lauren ask as she put her hand on my shoulder. I immediately felt the urge to push her off and run. So I did. And she flew against one of the bodyguards. I quickly made my way up the stairs. I had to get onto the roof. As I reached the 2nd floor, I heard "Get her!"
To get onto the attic I had to open a latch. I had no time to take down the ladder so I jumped, but I felt multiple people grab onto my shirt. 4 people At the same time were tackling me, and were screaming things to eachother which I wasn't able to fully comprehend anymore.
"Tranquillizer! Quick!" I heard Lauren say, and shortly after I felt a small stinging sensation.
...
I woke up with the worst headache and my throat felt dry. I always kept a water bottle on my nightstand, so I reached over with my hand only to bump into something.
"Y/n, how are you feeling?" I heard Lauren's voice
What happened? We were on the plane, that's all I remember.
"What the fuck happened Lauren, I feel horrible" My voice sounded hoarse and weak.
"I have no idea, but your eyes they went blue again. You panicked, and we needed all bodyguards to hold you still. You even bled out of your nose, and It kept on going. I instantly called my contact here. She'll be here soon."
"I remember wanting to get to the roof."
"Yeah, you were on your way to the attic. Good thing you didn't reach the little window up there. Wouldn't have been easy to squeeze through though."
"How long have I been out? "
"A few hours. We had to tranquillise you, but I'm glad you're ok now though. I was so worried, whatever you're having. It keeps progressing, and I'm afraid I'll lose you by the end of it."
I still felt anxious though, and the feeling didn't cease. I should've been relieved. So far away from Lena, no way for her to find me now, but I wasn't.
As I saw the airplane ascend, I felt my heart sink. How would I ever be able to find her. Where were they headed, and what the hell was Lauren planning with y/n? Oh Y/n, why do you have to make this so difficult.
I was surrounded by dozens of my men, standing there, with no idea what to do next. "Is there any way to check where they are going? For some reason I can't track the plane."
"The flight is excluded form the public database. We checked the tail number "
"Then we'll have to break some privacy regulations. Get their destination, so I know which people I need to contact overseas."
"Yes, miss Luthor."
A bit later Kara called.
"Hey, Lena. I tried, but can't seem to enter. My powers... they don't work."
"She must've given one of those devices to them. It's useless now. I'm afraid I don't need the help anymore Kara. I'll have to do this on my own."
"No way Lena, I'll go with you. I know how important this is."
"No, you stay here and make sure her little gang doesn't do anything stupid."
"Ok Lena... but be careful ok?"
"I will. Thanks for the help Kara."
Not long after Kara's call one of my men ran up to me.
"We got the location. They're going to the UK. Oxford airport."
"Let's head to London. We'll raise suspicion if we land in Oxford too. Lauren will make sure she's not followed, it seems I'm not the only one with connections. We'll find her soon enough, btw call Lucy please."
The medical professional Lauren knew arrived pretty soon after Lauren told me. As soon as she entered my room, I felt a new wave of unease. I wasn't ready to be another test subject, and judging by the way she eyed me, I wouldn't be far from that.
"Hi y/n. I'm Lucy. Professional in human enhancement and testing. I'll make sure your problem is solved in no time! Lauren told me so much about you"
"eh... Hi there Lucy... so what do you plan on doing? Thanks for offering to help."
"Well as Lauren might have told you, I've been enhancing humans for a while, but you. You seem to be a special case. Very interesting indeed. I might run a few tests and see what you are capable of. What might've caused this. The way Lauren described it... I couldn't believe it. It's just... fascinating."
The way she talked... It didn't really make me feel better. I was just some case to her.
"Tomorrow you and Lauren can come over to my lab. I'll run a few tests now and with the results we can continue further."
After more than 2 hours of the strangest tests, she was finally done with it.
"Great. Very interesting. I can't wait to see what we'll discover."
"I hope you discover a solution. That's all."
"Yes, yes." She muttered, inspecting every sample she took, before packing it in her large case.
It didn't seem to bother Lauren that much, but I really had a bad feeling about this.
