Kane entered the second-floor corridor from his room. As his eyes scanned his surroundings, he observed several workmen from the village who were busy taking measurements of the broken railings.

Then he turned his head and noticed a light coming from a spare bedroom down the hallway, and he suspected that was where Chadwick had placed Evangeline's new quarters.

He saw the door slowly open, and a young blonde-haired nurse appear. She was dressed in her white uniform and ready for the day. She wore a pleasant smile when she passed Lord Alexsander and gave him a slightly respectful bow as she stopped to greet him.

"Good Morning, Milord."

He reciprocated the gesture of courtesy. "A good morning to you, Ms. Evangeline."

The nurse questioned. "Did the lady sleep well last night? Did she have any sickness this morning?"
