Capítulo 28: Troubles brewing

Two quiet weeks have passed without much to be called major. Hades slowly got used to the maids enough to not start considering them a threat to kill, albeit they still avoid him like the plague. He still scared them when with his glare.

Fen on the other hand was getting quite liked, just by feeding him for two days, the maids have become attached to him. He always spend the night with Hades and in the day kept playing in the garden with the maids.

Gabriella has gotten used to her new living place, but her attitude of always trying to be close to Hades has become a troubling headache for everyone else. She insisted on sleeping in Hades's room (Which she was denied every time), being informed of his every move, and poking her nose in Eva's work all day long.

She once asked Hades to teach her fighting, and he accepted by the result was what everyone expected. All he could tell her was to swing harder, which wasn't as much of training as she expected but she took it seriously. She was just as much of a troublemaker as Hades in some cases.

But today, the inevitable finally happened. An envoy from the central church with orders to investigate the incident of Raiba's fall. It was something that the church expected long ago, what they didn't expect was for it to take twenty years and they wanted to know why it survived for so long.

Standing at Ginis's gate, the envoy stared around at the empty street. All the citizens hid in their houses, only his armed force stood behind him in silver armor. Cold air slowly blew across the garden as he stroked his long curly mustache and coughed to clear his thin throat.

"William Ginis, Alen Ginis. As issued by the central church, all survivors of Raiba are to be sent to the central church to reduce the refugees' numbers and offer them better-living conditions. We heard that one is living with you, please hand him over." The envoy shouted.

…William was staring from the window curtain as Alen stood beside him with a worried glare. "This is bullshit, something is going on," Alen said putting a hand on his sword.

William scratched his chin glaring at the envoy, "We should go and meet the man, surely there is something we can do about this." William grabbed his blade and looked behind at the maid standing patiently in the corner.

"I should prepare a drink and something to eat." She bowed and left immediately, she knew the drill.

"Are you intending to fight them?" Alen asked with a worried face, "Those are from the central church."

William sat silent for a moment thinking about it, "I won't let them take Hades no matter what, he's too much of a powerful soldier to let go this easily. Even the high priest Gabriella is insisting to stay by his side…" He looked out, "My instincts are telling me to keep him close."

"I see, it's either he stays or blood. We can always say they attacked first…" Alen smiled, William looked back at him, "…if no one survived, that's an important rule."

The envoy looked around the garden, he saw a small cub running after a red butterfly. "WAN! WAN!" the cub didn't stop parking as he played with slowly got on the man's nerves.

"Won't that thing just shut up…" He started getting frustrated as he has waited long enough.

The cub suddenly stopped moving and glared at the envoy in silence, the red butterfly landed on the cub's nose as if he was a stone. Those glares quickly got under the envoy's skin.

"You finally closed your mouth? A well-trained one…" It was then that he noticed the knights behind him backing down, they could feel it in their bones, that cub was dangerous.

"Sir Almanos, please back off slowly. Don't make any sudden moves if you want to live." A knight whispered as he grabbed the envoy by the coat.

CREEEAK! The Iron Gate leading into the back garden opened and a young man with black hair walked in…That caused all the guards to freeze in place. The cub immediately turned to glare at the young man.

"WAN!" Fen rushed toward Hades wagging his tail and jumped at his chest to lick his face. Hades lifted Fen up and laid him on his shoulder.

"You there! Open the gate!" The enjoy shouted sending cold chills down his knights' spines. Could he not tell, the little cub was a monster, and the young man was more than that.

Hades glared at the envoy directly in the eyes, "I've been told not to open to strangers, and to kill them if they got in the garden without permission." Hades replied.

"I'm from the central church you ign…" one of the knights tackled him down and pulled him back, "Sorry sir, will make sure he understands that. Can you please inform Lord William of our arrival?" The knight leading the squad approached to speak.

Hades approached the gate, "They should be coming. Alen won't miss your arrival." He replied.

"Thank you for your time, we're glad to meet the current general." The knight smiled trying not to get on Hades's nerves.

Hearing those words, Hades didn't know how to respond, he was never told what to do in such a situation. "Yeah…" He replied patting Fen who was licking his ear.

The knight smiled, "Sir, are you a tamer? It's rare to see someone with such a rare skill."

This was as well a term that Hades wasn't knowledgeable about, he looked at the knight as if awaiting an explanation.

"What is his name? To think you tamed a Fenrir cub…" The knight looked at hades with a wry smile.

"This little one, though he would be a great help killing an old knight." Hades smiled patting Fen.

The knight was an old man behind his helmet, those words chilled his spine as Hades sent his intention to kill clear. The knight took a step back, it wasn't like the entire squad couldn't kill Fen and Hades. They could do it. It was just that the losses wouldn't justify the reward.

It was better for them to strike up a friendly relationship for the time being. This young man seems to be the mansion guard, getting on his good side might help them later with William or Alen.

It was then that the mansion door opened, and William walked out with Alen by his side. Gabriella silently followed them with Eva by her side. The knight stared at them confused. Why the high priest was there, and why was she wearing a knight's armor?

"Hades, you seem to have met our guests. Can you let us talk for a moment?" William asked approaching Hades and patting Fen while glaring at the knights.

"I'm going to the backyard," Hades started walking away. Gabriella silently followed him.

The enjoy managed to escape the guards' grasp, they knew he was going to start trouble if he opened his mouth. "Stop there you insolent bastard! Didn't I tell you to open the damned gate?" The envoy shouted at the top of his lungs.

As if the air froze, silence fell. Gabriella slowly turned her head toward the envoy. Glaring at him with dead eyes, she slowly pulled her sword…
