Capítulo 126: 10.04

"Hey." Helena smiled, her head entering a patient's room, who she noticed was playing video games. "Couldn't sleep?"

"Nope." He confirmed.

"Are you worried about the surgery tomorrow?" She tried.

"Can't sleep because of the crying baby next door. And the... frog and the monkey picture." He nodded towards the paintings, which seemed out of place in a teen boy's room. "Kind of freak me out."

"What level are we on, now?" The doctor shared her interest.

"Level seven. What about you, Dr. C? Shouldn't you be resting before you and Dr. Grey operate on me tomorrow?" He let out.

"I'm a surgeon." She smiled. "It comes with no sleeping superpowers. Now, video games can be good for surgical practice. Why don't you teach me how to play?"

——

Quietly entering the room Meredith's 3D printer project presentation would be in, Helena stopped next to Derek, asking. "Do we know what she's printed yet? I'm thinking liver."

"No, she said we'd have to wait and see like everyone else..." He muttered.

"I'm betting on kidney." Jackson guessed, as Meredith spoke.

"Eventually, even using a patient's own cells to prevent rejection. Welcome to the age of personalized medicine." She smiled excitedly.

Then, she pulled out a fork, disappointed mumbles and mocking chuckles starting in the room.

At the end of the room, Helena started clapping, smiling to hide her own surprise. Discreetly, she elbowing Derek and Jackson, the two doing the same.

"Guys, we just got the printer, yesterday. We're testing it out. Forks, today. Tomorrow, portal veins for actual... people." Meredith almost shrieked, frustrated. "You guys!"

——

"I've been trying to wake him..." Will's mother sighed as Helena and Meredith walked into the room.

"Come on, buddy. We've let you sleep in as much as we can." Helena smiled, as she reached for the pillow that covered his eyes.

"Good morning, Will!" Meredith let out.

"My big day started out as a nightmare when a clown came in at dawn asking me if I wanted a balloon animal." He muttered, sitting up.

"Clowns are a bit of a peds floor hazard." The short doctor chuckled.

"Are you still going to try to remove all the tumors today? It just seems like it's a lot to do all at once..." The mother let out.

"Will's cancer is a very aggressive sarcoma. It's an all-or-nothing approach." Meredith explained.

"We've come up with a plan to remove all of them, starting with number one." Helena pointed to the image on the computer. "Some should be easy enough, but there are a few tricky ones, like tumor number eight. It's deep in the liver, but we'll do our very best to get it."

"We'll get it." Meredith nodded.

"We'll try." The brunette corrected. She knew how important it was not to make these promises to the kids' parents. "Uh, it's sort of like trying to get past level six. There are some fighters, we just need to be really precise." She winked at the teen boy.

"We will eat all those dots and kill all those ghosts." Meredith tried, narrowing her eyes as she attempted to make a successful metaphor.

"She doesn't talk video games." Helena smiled, making the boy tease.

"Well, until I taught yesterday, neither did you, Dr. C."

"Oh, you did not need to do me dirty like that, Will." She playfully let out. "We'll see you in the OR."

——

Before surgery, Helena grabbed a yogurt at the attending's lounge, sitting by Arizona, as April talked to them.

"I go to his house, we eat dinner, we talk, we watch TV, we talk, we kiss, we... . And then we stop." The redhead sighed, pouring herself some coffee. "I go home. And it's hard. You know, because it's not like I don't know what I'm missing. I know what I'm missing. What do I do?"

"What?" Helena tilted her head.

"Wait, hold on, what exactly are you asking us?" Arizona stopped spreading the cream cheese on her bagel, as the short woman took a spoon of yogurt to her mouth.

"Well... how do I resist?" She sat down on a chair.

"I-I don't know." Helena shrugged, furrowing her brows. "I mean, I've been with Mark for a while. Started dating him on my second year of residency... Like, what, seven years ago? And, you know, he's . He's... amazing. I can't exactly complain in that field."

"Arizona. Remember when you had that flirtation with intern Murphy and then decided not to take it any further?" The redhead tried.

"Oh, yeah. Uh... I took that further." She admitted.

"You had sex?"

"Yeah."

"Was it...?" April leaned to the front in her chair.

"Awesome." The blond exhaled, with a nod.

"This is... not- you're not... I have to go away from you two now." The redhead muttered, walking away in frustration, as Helena giggled.

——

"Ready with tumor number one." Helena announced, in surgery, a nurse tapping the image on the screen by them, signaling it was gone.
